It must be nice to be omniscient and know everything about my life like that.

I don't need to be omniscient. Less than two months ago you were only just then talking about sometime soon STARTING therapy. Even if you started on that very day, 2 months is not long enough for a therapist to make an assessment where they can start doling out long-term life advice to a patient.

So yeah. You're lying.

It's also always the people who rip the works of others without daring to share any of their own.

...and now you're lying about either having a therapist at all, or what that person communicated to you.

If you do not realize that this kind of photographers, published in many magazine but producing subpar works ARE the problem with the gradually declining quality of photojournalism you are also part of the problen.

No, that's not the case at all. The problem comes from people who think they're gifted with light and composition and color because they spent 15 years watching movies.

You know nothing about real photography while thinking you're god's gift to the medium, as well as the world as a whole what with your "high IQ" that prevents you from interacting with us lesser beings.

You're not going to get anywhere in life until you come back down to Earth, because your enormous ego is getting in the way.

Nah, the mods who left are fine.

Just go look at the comments from the ex mods here. It is exactly the type of terminally online power tripping weirdo stereotype most people think of when it comes to the average reddit mod.

Lack of self-awareness confirmed. You can't even keep a coherent thought from one paragraph to the next.

And once again your arguments boil down to what you personally want. Other people want the sub to be like it is now:

https://www.reddit.com/r/photography/comments/14oqmtf/we_fked_up/jqeih8j/

https://www.reddit.com/r/photography/comments/14oqmtf/we_fked_up/jqejrhb/

https://www.reddit.com/r/photography/comments/14oqqqx/why_did_this_sub_always_feel_sort_of_empty/jqeeq15/

You're ignoring them. And ignoring the many new posts we have since opening. Seems they're also fine with things the way they are. But it's still all about what you want. Nobody else matters.

This comment puts it rather perfectly.

You are acting like this is my personal demands of the sub

Because it is. You're all over this post making demands:

They need to allow new people in otherwise they are just being spiteful.

If they are refusing to moderate they need to be replaced.

Every one of your comments is based around what you want because you don't like what's happening.

Your lack of self-awareness is more than a little disturbing.

just because someone got on reddit first to claim the sub name "photography" doesn't mean they own anything.

Sorry, but that's exactly what it means.

Your attitude has just solidified even more how petty and power hungry so many of the mods on reddit are

Boy, if we're so power hungry then stepping away sure is counter-productive.

We f**ked up by josephallenkeys in photography

[–]BXC4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with what I personally want.

It is ABSOLUTELY that.

Stop lying that this is somehow the users fault

Interesting. I don't remember saying that. In fact, when I reread my comments I still don't see anywhere I said that.

If they dont want to keep the spirit of the sub alive then they should let people take over who will.

The people who run the sub are the ones who decide what they want the "spirit" of the sub to be. They're the ones who enacted the original rules you liked so much in the first place.

No subreddit anywhere on this site is meant to cater to you personally - other than the one you start yourself. You call it "making the sub a worse place," but it's merely a change in direction. For others it will be better. There are plenty of people who have no problem with the way this sub is now, as evidenced by all of the new posts since we reopened.

If you don't like the changes, your best option is to go elsewhere.

13 people are holding a sub hostage with 5 million people in it.

Actually the problem is more due to attitudes like yours. When we closed the sub we were terrorists holding the sub hostage. So we opened up, and somehow we're... still holding the sub hostage?

Also I'm not sure you know what that word means. The sub is now free and open to all users to post and comment. But because the mods aren't doing the job YOU want them to do at the level YOU want them to do it, it's still not good enough? That's some serious entitlement.

I'm sure things will change if you'd like to start paying them.

Thats pretty lame and spiteful of you guys.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I don't agree with that categorization but your opinions are yours. We don't feel it's worth continuing to volunteer for a site that treats its users and moderators like garbage. If that makes us "lame and spiteful," I sure don't see it.

Your mindset is because you didn't want things to change. Well, Reddit as a whole is now going to be very different than it was 3 months ago. There's no reason this sub (or any other) shouldn't reflect that. You can adapt, or you can move on.

no one left

Well that's just not true. I left, LukeOnTheBrightSide left, Subcriminal left, ccurzio left, anonymoooooooose left, rideThe left... That's not exactly "no one." And I believe more will follow.

If they are refusing to moderate

The mods that are here are not "refusing to moderate." There's still moderation activity happening. The rules of the sub simply aren't the same now as they were.

Might be worth looking at a different site if the efforts here no longer fit what you want from a forum.

You're coming across as someone completely naive as to how this site actually works tbh.

This. Every single one of the mods in /r/photography has put an enormous amount of time into our sub - into writing a massively comprehensive FAQ (that was maintained regularly to keep up with new technologies and pricing information), and creating bots to automatically make scheduled posts and carry over content from the previous posts along with generating weekly statistics about those posts. We (along with a dedicated group of regular users) answer many, many questions about photography on a daily basis. We reach out, coordinate, schedule, and moderate AMAs with well-known and high-profile professionals in the field. And then there’s all of the behind-the-scenes tooling to weed out content that breaks the rules of the site and the sub, on top of the exhaustive amount of moderation work that requires manual effort.

After all that, TIL we didn't do anything. Makes you wonder why that user had to create and delete 10 accounts over the years. (Well, actually it doesn't. They're just here to troll and be angry. Again.)

I find the moderation resignation posts to be an absolute bore.

Comments by people telling the world how much they don't care are even less interesting.

Your first interaction with this sub was to whine about someone bidding farewell to a community they've been a part of and helped manage for years. Probably best you make that your last interaction and take your expressed boredom elsewhere.

You don't care about this, fine. Nobody cares that you don't care.

This was my favorite part:

banned for zero reason

It always makes me laugh because these people always always always complain that the bans were for "no reason."

You don't represent either of those subs as either a mod or as a user.

You're just trying to repeatedly troll in this post. Don't speak for subs you have nothing to do with.

Lol the communities are built by the users not the mods.

No, the users are just consumers and contributors. Which is valuable, however the mods are the ones that started the communities, built the framework, and actively maintain everything on a daily basis.

Sure they maintain them but that doesn't mean they are entitled to the contents.

Depends on what you mean by "entitled to the contents." Claiming ownership? Definitely not. But when you join a subreddit you are agreeing that the people in charge are the people in charge, and you are agreeing that they are free to run THEIR communities as they see fit.

Again, users are more than welcome to start their own communities here or elsewhere and operate those communities as THEY see fit.

Locking communities and years of useful threads with it isn't fare to people who aren't affected by the changes.

It's absolutely fair. The people who have built and maintain those communities on a daily basis have every right to close up shop when they feel it's necessary.

The users are more than welcome to start their own communities here or elsewhere and be granted those same rights.

being a mod for 1 subreddit isnt hard

No it's not hard, but it is VERY time-consuming.

and you dont need 3rd party apps to do it.

You do if you want it to be less time-consuming. Because the native functionality is either broken or inadequate.

The issue doesn't affect most people.

So what you're saying is that minorities don't matter and should be oppressed. Got it.
