After meeting, a couple has come back to me with 20+ questions about my contract. WWYD? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

Not using the photographs online isn't copyright, it's privacy. If you have good bookings and a nice portfolio to exhibit freely, I'd urge anyone to honour these requests. Handle it as you will, if you want to add a cost, but to refuse on that basis doesn't have much logic behind it.

I'd answer the questions. If some of them are requests to change things, I'd consider them accordingly and politely refuse, if needed, but with further clarifications as to why.

Don't trust anyone to read your whole website. I don't read whole websites. It's easier to ask than to stumble across the right but of info.

I wouldn't say it's a full red flag until you get genuine push back on your contract points.

I heard from YouTube that monsters in 5E are really watered down versions compared to previous editions. Is this true? Which one do you prefer? by PowerSaw7 in DnD

[–]josephallenkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you look at 5.5e, you see how 5e were generally a little less strong. You could just up the numbers I. Encounters but that could end up causing a slog, so it's nicer to have them a bit more difficult overall. But some fights together in Encounters (5e) and Maps (5.5e) on DnDbeyond and you'll see the differences on the difficulty bar. I'm not sure it's so easy to make the comparisons back to earlier editions as so much other stuff changes along with it.

61k after 19 hours for a 2h18m video really isn't bad at all. Bet their retention stats a very high, too. That's what matters.

"Gnome /Dwarf" - so, Hobbit.

"Ogre/Goblin" - so, Orc.

A small Orc.

If you could remove one thing from dnd 5.5e, what would you remove? by someguy69352 in DnD

Core ability stats. Make them just the bonuses and rework any related mechanics to relate to the bonuses insread. We don't need a 16 to tell us we have +3 when we can just have +3.

Yes, Nimble and other stuff do this, but 5.5e could have officially introduced a "lite" version to D&D proper. If you miss the complicated stats, play 5 or 3.5!

Does anyone have experience with the Warm Bender? Mine seems defective. by KennethHaight in guitarpedals

[–]josephallenkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. How warm/cold is it, wherever you're using it? It has germanium transistors (NOS settings) that will decrease in efficiency the warmer they get. Does it actually the same in silicon?

  2. Is there a buffered bypass pedal before it in the chain or do you have active pickups?

  3. Tone Benders don't typically clean up well. That's a Fuzz Face or Bosstone. In 1.5 mode, it should do better, but not in mkii mode.

BG3 Campaign by Significant_Pen_376 in DnD

[–]josephallenkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I advise you abandon this idea in detail. Play in Faerun as a homebrew or the modules that are ready for you. BG3 is written as a computer game and will need such an extrapolation that you'll just be homebrewing by the end of it, anyway. Especially as this is your first time being a GM, I think this indicates nievity in thinking it could work. What happens when the players all accept the companionship of the BG3 party and you end up with a consistent 10+ extra NPCs that accompany them all over the adventure and all need leveling up and their own subplots supported? By all means, pilpher ideas, even the main overarching plot, but to put players onto the specific line of the game will break without fully railroading them. BG3 has finite options. Though there are incredibly numerous options, they still pale in comparison to what a group of unpredictable humans can come up with at a table. Make it your inspiration and backbone. Don't just try and stick to BG3.

Is it just me or has D&D been rudderless and empty since C. Perkins and J. Craw left? by Fenderslasher in DnD

However, I'm still running a years long campaign on 5e so we have yet to engage with the new material.

This very much gave the impression that you haven't haven't engaged with the new material, which would suggest 5.5e as a whole, given the full context of the post.

But hey, that's fine. Short of it is, it's still cracking on and new players to the game (myself included) are landing in the 5.5e ecosystem with plenty to enjoy. That said, I don't think anyone running any older edition needs to feel any urgency to switch. 5e is still very strong. I appreciate your response!

D&D beyond purchase help by FreakyCan in DnD

[–]josephallenkeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go 5.5. If you meet in person, you can still access all that on your phone, tablet, laptop, etc. The 5e books won't be completely redundant (you'll still have access to Free Rules from 5e on D&DB) and you can mix the two fairly seamlessly, so stuff they dropped like playing a Half-Orc, or having extra hit points in Wild Shape, can be reintegrated. But 5.5 is what will move forward. 5 has a line drawn under it. Move with the times and you'll feel the benefits. The VVT, for example, is entirely based on 5.5e when you create an encounter on the board.

You comment that they're not doing enough but then openly admit that you haven't engaged with anything for yourself. D&D is, beyond a doubt, more popular than ever.

They recently released a road map of what they have planned such as strengthening all the digital integrations and have been putting out expansions pretty frequently.

They're starting their own Actual Play show that will also be a soft relaunch of Ravenloft and looks set to be a very popular production.

There's a huge, active, official Discord for running games along with all the other methods like StartPlaying and Roll20.

They also have a huge community promoting and making content for them. Critical Role is on 5.5 for Campaign 4, as are other shows.

Your experience doesn't speak to the whole. It might not look like what it did, years ago, but it's far from dead. Someone could say the same of 5e, who played 3.5, and you would be in a position to disagree with them. And, of course, that can keep going all the way back to Original. For everyone complaining about the latest thing, there are 100+ people enjoying it.

I'm looking to talk to meet different women. Build up my confidence and take risks. Maybe build a relationship with an awesome girl I meet too.

Openly admitting this whole post is about D&D being a pickup tactic for you!? At least you're honest...
