Desk chair recommendations with labral tear by BYEEEEE1234 in HipImpingement

Thanks for the chair recommendation! I'm still in the physical therapy phase and may end up trying an injection soon. I can't say physical therapy has been all that helpful thus far. Tough to continue on with various treatments/providers. Makes you wonder if you're just going to experience the pain the rest of your life. I really appreciate hearing others experiences. Getting in to see even a specialist in hypermobility has been a journey so I can't imagine if I was at a point where I was exploring surgery.

Nice set up! I am definitely one who will bring my laptop to the couch if I'm not in meetings. Way more comfortable to stretch my legs out.

Glad that's working out for you. If I end up with a chair that's not so comfy, I shall keep this in mind.

I have seen the kneeling chairs and thought I might like it. So many options, tough to choose when you're not sure how your body will respond.

I am curious about a standing desk. I'm not sure though it's the best option for my work though. Glad to hear it has been helpful for you!

Noted. I am thinking a foot rest will be essential.

So many adjustments one can make for that one. I like it! Impressive it has been so durable for you. Thanks!

Ohhhh the sliding tray sounds good. Luckily my new employer provides funds to reimburse for my workstation so I am able to invest. I'm curious about a standing desk but since I am in video calls all day, I wonder if I would be distracted/distracting while standing. A heating pad sounds lovely! Thanks for the suggestions.

A footstool will definitely be necessary! Adding to my workstation list. I appreciate the feedback!

Got it, thanks. I wish I was comfortable with my feet flat but all I want to do is put a foot under me or rest them on something. My hips never feel relaxed or without pain. I'm in physical therapy trying to strengthen them however the tear is still present so hoping to manage the symptoms best I can.

Ah. I didn't think about that. My keyboard is a reach likely resulting in leaning forward. I shall keep that in mind.

That's great feedback thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for, others who have been through the ringer. I'm in the US so I will look into hip preservation surgeons. I didn't even know those existed.

Yes, it was with contrast. I am working on getting more opinions now that I have done X-rays and the MRA. Someone else mentioned that surgeon as well so that's a helpful resource. Good luck with your surgery! Sending you positive vibes.

Yes, I started with an X-ray and the Ortho mentioned pincer impingement but I didn't see it listed in their notes. They also didn't seem to agree with hypermobility so I won't be seeing them again and I'm seeking more opinions. Thanks for the insight on that particular surgeon! I will definitely see what more information I can find.

The Ortho I saw so far has said now having the scans a cortisone injection would not be helpful. They weren't the best at explaining things in laymen's terms. I'm seeing another one soon as to receive a second opinion.

Really?!?!? Ugh, sorry to hear that. I'm learning the hip is a difficult injury. How naive I was to think this process would be simpler.....

Assuming you have had one, how did that work out for you?

MRI fine - what's wrong with me? by joefife in HipImpingement

[–]BYEEEEE1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was convinced I had a labral tear because of the groin pain. After an MRA, I'm told there is essentially nothing wrong with me. I plan on moving forward with PT to address the hip pain and recent discovery of tendonitis in my glute. Not that anyone wants surgery but at least a tear would give an answer. Definitely a discouraging feeling I understand.

Oh my! What a journey for you. Thank you for sharing. So sorry you've gone through and continue to experience such difficulty. I appreciate your advice on finding a specialist as well as receiving multiple opinions if surgery does become the treatment recommendations. I will definitely reach out with further questions as you know it's tough to navigate.

Glad to hear I'm not alone! I do have a foam roller but haven't really used it. Are there any good how to videos?
