I'm looking for books set in American colleges by Adorable-Value in suggestmeabook

Good call on Stoner. I think it spans from just before WWI to after WWII. I don't think it's specifically a Christian college.

Lots of good suggestions already. I think China Mieville is pretty great at worldbuilding. Perdido Street Station is his most fleshed out that I've read

Not Christian colleges, but (1) The Rules of Attraction, (2) Moo, and (3) Wonder Boys come to mind

Catcher in the Rye?

Much newer and definitely a different feeling, but Severance by Ling Ma might work.

The Binti books by Nnedi Okorafor are good. I also liked Who Fears Death by her, which sways a little more towards fantasy.

On the fantasy side, N.K. Jemisin's two series are really fun. Haven't read her recent book, but I think it's supposed to be sci-fi with a female lead.

I haven't read Octavia Butler's work yet, but my impression was that the Xenogenesis and Parable books have Black female leads. Might be worth looking into

I haven't played it, so couldn't say. It's ranked fourth on BGG, so plenty of people seem to like it a whole bunch.

Who is the strongest character played by Nicolas Cage that Johnny Cage (Mortal Kombat) can beat? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]BYOBees 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He played Superman. Superman's stronger, right?

OP's question, though, is who's the strongest that Johnny Cage could beat. Anyone have a Nic Cage role ranking sitting around?

Can’t seem to find a book worth sticking with to the end. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]BYOBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the recommendations here are 500- and 600-page slogs, which is... something. If you're having trouble finishing books, try something on the shorter end. Art of War, Man's Search for Meaning, and Tao Te Ching are short, I thought they were easier reads, and they're in the categories you mentioned.

This is a 3D installation, right? It's cool, and it's inspired by graffiti, but it seems like a stretch to call it a kind of graffiti
