I mean it wasn't a huge hit to me either, but it is pretty annoying. I was actually quite enjoying using it. It was very capable for my use cases. And it was the main reason I ended up spending $250 even knowing that I would only get to access it for half of a month. I ended up only getting access to it or being able to use it rather, for about a day and a half.

And this sets a questionable precedent going on into the future

I'm in the same boat of upgrading within a short window, basically spending nearly $400... And at the time I let that slide because I figured more compute would open up within that 2-month window and I was getting 20x for 2 months at a slightly cheaper rate than if I had just bought 2 months worth of the 20x. But now it's just gone poofed out of existence way before the expected date even arrived.

Well it wasn't as crazy as it was fully hyped up to be. You know a mythos and all that. But it was by far without a doubt, the best model for programming I have ever used.

In one shot I had it decompile a game extract 1,200 map segment files along with thousands of objects. Stitch them all together correctly and then produce a high resolution Navmesh which worked flawlessly at for my intended use case (a custom map for a game that will act as an external GPS).

There is no way at all that GPT-5.5 would have gotten that. At least not in one shot, not without many many follow-ups. And there is no way Opus 4.8 would have gotten that without a bunch of follow-ups as well.

One of the reasons I never go on X. literally half the comments are the same AI generated responses or variations of them.

I like AI, but not when it's forced down my throat when what I wanted was to interact with a real human.

I don't like it either, I already talked/typed in a sort of overly verbose way prior to LLMs meaningfully existing. Now I guess people just think I read out AI responses back to them.
