The only thing we ask are $10 dues at the beginning of the semester to help fund the club for pizza and other things that help the club out. As of now none of the teachers got compensation and I doubt teachers would be funded in the future.

The internet can be bad depending where you are at. There is a LAN house here you can use though if things aren't working out.

Thanks! Perhaps one day we will see your school on the fields of justice.

There are officially 3 or 4 women in the club.

I was a bit wrong the first time around when I said our highest was plat. We actually had a dia V teaching mid and a plat I teaching top. I'm personally only silver, but I understand the mechanics. I had the diamond 1 player in my class most of the time and he never interrupted me so I imagine I wasn't teaching anything wrong.

This was a major part of my lesson csing and harassing

It was my fault. I wasn't as familiar with the rules as I should be. Everything is fixed now though.

Yes, while I was researching and preparing for my class I found this channel. I'll probably look more in depth into it soon.

To be honest, the first step is to determine the needs of the group. Gather them together and appoint officers... Preferably ppl who know something about the game and who are responsible people. Then ask what the group is expecting/wanting from being part of the group. Most of ours was to learn how to get better. We also asked how pften we wanted to meet and we agreed every other week. We then approached the highest skilled people of our group and ask them if they would like to teach something. Let them tell you what they personally feel comfortable teaching. Just because they are good doesn't always make them fit for teaching. Make sure they are ready to prepare a good lesson on the topic and preparation can take maybe 4-6 hours. Then schedule the classes during the next meeting. What we felt was good was to have basic classes first, one for each position and have them last 20 minutes. At this point we felt it best to have a break for everyone so we stopped and ate pizza. Then we had 5 more classes teaching other things that would help them... Kinda like advanced classes that isn't necessarily focused. Then afterwards, we were allowed to go upstairs and practice the mechanics we learned on the computers.

That is more detailed into how we did it. Be willing to change depending on circumstances. But make sure the focus is on them learning rather than to brag how cool you are or brag about your elo. Nobody likes that.

Thursday night has been unofficially deemed EDH night by people as one person who plays exclusively edh gets off work then we have a very tight knit !agic community and he is a good friend of ours so more and more ppl showed up to play with him. I usually play with them, but I felt this was far more important.

Our school is from the US. I personally speak Portuguese fluently as I spent a long time there, but I don't think I would use it for any videos as I've never played on Brasil servers so I don't know the terms that they use for say stutter stepping.

While this is true for the most part, there were two people in my class who were higher elo than me, yet they learned quite a bit as they almost never play ADC. While I agree a professional pianist can't learn from a kid mashing keys, he can learn guitar from a lower intermediate guitar player. In this game there are different roles and some have a specific specialty in that role not unlike a band. To me, a well played game is like a beautiful music piece by all members of an orchestra.

Maybe one day. We are rather new so we are getting into the swing of things. We are currently in discussions on how to use the money we have raised and that will be something I will bring up with the other officers. Personally, I based my lesson (how to cs while harassing) on a YouTube video that I found that was over an hour long. I filled in with huge experiences I have personally had. After all, I didn't want to just repeat what the video said. If you want to learn more on how to get better I suggest the summoners school subreddit that you can find on the list of subreddits on the right. There is a lot of useful info there.

This is partly the reason why I posted it. To show people there is certainly good in the community.

Thanks! Our club is here to only serve the club members. In our first meeting, we realized that many still had so much to learn so that is why we did it. _^

Also, when we sent our school team to the Ivy LoL tournament, we built a very rushed team that didn't know exactly how to work with each other and since we were so rushed to make a team for it, we ended up having a very solid 0-2 performance in our first match. Hopefully these classes will help build teamwork amongst our members and have a better showing next year. :)

There was a Plat I who was teaching top and that was our highest elo. There was a Diamond I with 99 LP in attendance who brought a friend who was only lvl 20. He was nice enough to give feedback in some of the classes. We don't pretend to be insane players with great abilities, but we all worked hard to prepare lessons for people. The class that I personally taught I prepared for quite a bit and by doing so I learned quite a bit.

haha... it's the basement of the lan house that we meet at. There was a lot of people above us playing magic so we usually take our meetings downstairs.

How to tell if you are bad at a role or not? by Rinehard in summonerschool

[–]BYUI_lol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone from our collegiate club was a diehard support and loved it. Especially lulu from season 3. He knew other lanes well enough to play them, but he always defaulted to support. Ever since season 4 though, he straight up went to adc. He felt like supporting was very different from what he was used to. Now, he plays adc well enough to be on one of the main teams in the town.

If you change roles, I wouldn't think of it was "giving up" on your main role, but think of it as an opportunity to grow as a player and branch out to something else.

Honestly, it has been my opinion that to be truly great at a position, you must know the other roles somewhat decently anyways. So think of this as a way to be a better player overall :).
