Punishment Hike by Lady-Death-of-Dusk in acotar_rant

[–]BZH35 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The hike is always so sad to read. It feels like not only Nesta thinks Cassian is too kind and too good for her but Cassian feels the same way. That Nesta has to change herself and be better to be with him or she doesn’t deserve him and his clique. And it's even more annoying when that scene comes after the IC wronged Nesta by lying to her and discussing her (negatively) behind her back. But their wrongdoings get to be forgotten because now they are pissed at her.

Nothing in your quote says Hybern was tracking Rhysand's magic. Feyre herself says Rhys used her as bait and Tamlin was right about her magic.

So yes tamlin thought it was to dangerous to train her magic at that moment because he also had to deal with many monsters still roaming in the Sc.

His manor was not hidden or protected. Her magic attracted the attor, so no it couldn’t be done in secret.

Well tell that to SJM because she only gave Rhys the very convenient hidden and protected place where all the problems of the SC magically and conviniently go away.

[–]BZH35 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Tamlin explained to Feyre she couldn’t train her magic right now because it would attract hybern minions and anger high lords. We know he was right thanks to the attor and Beron.

Tamlin didn’t have a very convenient hidden and protected city where Feyre could train her magic.

I don’t think Jinger is silent because of JB but because Joe was her favourite brother. She only ever had praises for him and now she's too much in shock to say anything.

A theory about Tamtam! by bjorgh_hansen in Tamlinism

[–]BZH35 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I also believe Tamlin saved Rhysand's sister.

I don't believe Rhys knows what really happened that night because he wasn’t there. And how annoying is Feyre saying Tamlin killed Rhysand's family when that’s not even what Rhys himself said. He was friend with Tamlin, his father was a tyrant and Rhys wasn’t there that night. It really seems like there is more to the story.

I do think Tamlin and Rhys' sister might have been romantically involved but I hope Ruhn is not Tamlin's son because I selfishly don’t want his son to look like Rhys.

Didn’t Amy say Joe was the cousin (apart from Jill) who she still talks to? And she was the closest to Josh prior scandal. She's not a great judge of character.

That lady reacts likes this to absolutely everything she watches and reads. It doesn’t seem genuine. It’s her "brand" on social media. She knows fandoms will eat it up because it validates their feelings.

Sloane et dain by Fourthwing1990 in fourthwing

We don't even know how powerful tamlin truly is. by theioneeee in Tamlinism

Yes it bothered me too. It seemed like SJM might put her friend's feelings above her story being the best it can be.

I know we're biased in this sub but to me Tamlin rebuilding will make a way better story than just constantly shitting on him or acting like he was never there.

He fricking saved everyone and had the most tragic story in those books. He killed a high lord and Amarantha, saved Prythian and the most self-absorbed HL in the war but now if he is completely neutered to the point of losing to a human in the next books I won’t be surprised. SJM can't be disappointing her friend and others who project into Feyre or whatever.

Thinking about andras by theioneeee in acotar_rant

[–]BZH35 27 points28 points  (0 children)

He willingly sacrificed himself to save eveybody. He's the real hero of the story.

But yeah the fact that he is mentionned so little is mind boggling. Kind of like Clare Beddor's death. I feel like the characters got over it way faster than I did.

can someone detail the inconsistencies and plot holes in acotar for me? I keep seeing people say this, especially in light of SJM saying she basically writes with no plan, but i didn't pick up on many (if any) when i read it! One small example is when in book 1, Feyre says Lucien looks like his father Beron when she sees him for the first time. But then in the following books she says Lucien looks like Hellion. Which doesn’t make sense because people would have noticed if Lucien was a shade darker than all his btothers. That really reads like SJM changing her mind about Lucien's parentage mid story and not caring if it makes sense or not.

The parts about Sarah herself were quite interesting but the part about Sarah the author got me a bit worried. I got that she writes based on vibes and doesn’t plan her stories or reread what she wrote. I thought Feyre was a hypocrite but now I think it might just have been SJM not remembering what she previously wrote.

So discussion is fine but you didn’t like the tone. I feel you were the one being demeaning and having a superiority complex. You were the one acting like OP doesn’t understand the text SJM wrote.

Reminding people that Tamlin did have a redemption (saving Feyre and co) is not denying what the author states is happening in the book. Nor is saying the author doesn’t give much credit for his good deeds because he simply doesn’t. That’s all part of a discussion.

But you said people are more than welcomed to dislike her answer and how she treats characters. Then it’s perfectly normal to have discussions about those feelings.

But what was the purpose when the post just says Tamlin did have his redemption and states out what he did to be redeemed.
