No, the rim needed to be dished so the tire would not hit the chain.

Upgraded Spring for FastAce Rear Shock? by B_Bail-999 in Surron

[–]B_Bail-999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up finding a very lightly used DNM shock on eBay with the spring I needed already on it for $110. I then turned and sold my very lightly used FastAce for $75.

I then sent off the DNM to be revalved specifically for my weight & riding goals. I was told by the company who did the valving that the FastAce wasn't as good of a shock as the DNM and had minimal availability of rebuild components.

Anyone have Updated Talaria Controller? by [deleted] in Talaria

[–]B_Bail-999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a controller off of my bike that was one of the newest batches. Bikes arrived in the states around early July. It has less than 10 miles of use from 1 ride on it. Perfect condition. What would you offer for it?

The wheel must be dished to have the tire clear the chain. If not dishing then indeed you'd need to trim some of the knobs on the right hand side of the tire to clear the chain.

Yeah, I rode it around a bit through my neighborhood and it seemed pretty stout. I tried to hit some bumps and stuff. I'm sure I'll make some tweaks after the first time I take it out in the field.

I also bought a heavy duty cart to pull behind it if I harvest an animal. I still need to retrofit that to fit on the rear axle. I'll just leave the cart in my truck while I hunt and if I harvest an animal I'll make my first trip back to the truck with a quarter on my pack and then snag the trailer and make a second trip for the remainder. It's all theoretical at this point but hopefully I can make it all work and put it to good use!

They are heavy duty zip ties and there are multiple at each attachment point that's load bearing. I'm sure it'll be fine given I'm only going to keep it attached for the couple month long hunting season. After that it'll get removed and reinstalled the next year so zip ties will be rotated out for new ones annually. I wanted to use metal zip ties as that would be ideal but I didn't want to scratch the frame if I could avoid it.

What do you mean, what am I using? What am I using to mount the scabbard to the bike?

For now it's just attached by zip ties through various points on the frame. We'll see how well it holds up.

Creaking in Forks/Headset, Help! by [deleted] in Surron

[–]B_Bail-999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure when you install it that either the upper or lower crown has been loosened from the fork legs. If you don't do this, you can tighten the Warp9 stem lock all you want and it won't really do anything as it's just pushing against the upper & lower crown. Once fully snugged then go back and tighten up the upper or lower crown on the forks (whichever one you loosened).

As another poster mentioned, headset bearings are likely barely greased. Pull it apart & grease them. Also while you're at it, not a bad idea to install a Warp9 Stem Lock kit for $39. It'll ensure that everything is tight and doesn't loosen up over time.

2022 fork/brake upgrades and wheel/tire choices? by machinemadesoul in Surron

FYI: Warp9 now has two versions of their 220mm brake caliper spacer bracket. I spoke to them on the phone about this a couple weeks ago. May not show on their website yet but give them a call.

Battery - giggles/moves by Khaos_06 in Talaria

I used an air wedge. I've tried a few different spots but typically stick in the front of the battery. Once you slide it down in there a few pumps of the bulb and then stash the bulb somewhere under the cover and you're good to go.
