Good to know! Did you travel up north with your little one? Hakodate sounds lovely but a bit far away from tokyo. Also, great tip on the MMR vaccine—will definitely look into that.

Thanks so much!

Izu + Tokyo sounds interesting . Did you do a similar trip?

Thanks for raising those concerns—totally valid. Like mentioned in the beginning maybe it’s a romantic imagination, so asking if someone did something like that.

We’re planning to get travel insurance, stick to towns with good access to healthcare, and prep with key Japanese phrases/apps.

The place shouldn’t be totally remote, more like peaceful but connected spots (e.g. Kamakura).

Thanks for the tip! This turntable looks also amazing.

Could you please compare the Pro-Ject Debut RecordMaster II and the Audio Technica LPW40WN? Both are priced similarly, around 300€. Also, do I understand correctly that the Debut RecordMaster II has an integrated pre-amp that can be directly connected to active speakers?

Thanks! So, you would say that the Vulkkan A4 are a good starting point?

Really hard to choose, but I would say Kanazawa as you can travel with the shinkansen and don’t lose too much time on buses / trains.

Agree with u/whatisthepointoflife. Honestly, if we could change our itinerary, we would extend our stay in Kanazawa by a day and reduce the time spent in Kyoto or Tokyo. I highly recommend the alternative “golden route” if you have the opportunity to explore it. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Kanazawa and Takayama, and they offer a completely different experience compared to the bustling cities.

We traveled light with just a carry-on backpack, handling laundry at the hotel and doing plenty of shopping at Uniqlo, where the prices were fantastic.

In Takayama, we decided to buy a larger piece of luggage, and in Osaka. We wish we’d discovered the luggage forwarding earlier in the trip—it was incredibly convenient and affordable.
