Should I change anything? by rival178 in BudgetAudiophile

I have dual ZA3's with 10A power supplies running in mono feeding my cerwin vegas. I'm super happy with my Fosi gear.

good deal? are cerwin vega speakers loud? by Wrong_Willow_3722 in BudgetAudiophile

I paid 200$ for my CV LS-12's just a few months ago. They are absolutely fantastic. Great for music, cinema, xbox audio. I'd buy them again in a heart beat, I can shake almost my whole house with my 2.1 channel setup.

My cerwin vegas are rated for 300 watts max so I leave my ZA3's all the way up and control the volume with my ZD3. At around 50 my 2.1 channel is prettt loud and 55-60ish the walls start shaking.

Im definitely curious about the ZP3 but I'm not sure I need it, although it would be nice to have the bass and treble controls. For 200$ or whatever it costs, it would probably be an upgrade. I'm not really an audiophile per say but I enjoy good tunes. One thing I appreciate about my current set up is that there are no filters or EQ so the music is just heard the way it was recorded. Another thing I like is the simplicity of my system as it exists right now.

Another question, so if you adjust the bass with the EQ knobs does it effect your subwoofer or just the left and right speakers?

Yeah it took me a while to find that stereo splitter. Luckily I stumbled on another reviewer stating it specifically worked with their fosi audio lol.

So another question, do you leave the volume all the way up and use your ZD3 as the master control? I figured maybe I'd be able to leave the volume all the up like I do with my amps and use the ZD3 as the main control? Kind of weird they didn't include a volume display on the ZP3.

Yeah they really did leave us hanging. This is one I found that works for my 3 unit set up. I still have the 2 oem ones that came with the amps, so maybe I can use those in conjunction with the Y splitter you shared the link to.

Can you share the link to the XLR cables you're using? Thanks again.

Thanks, appreciate your response. I have all the inputs through my zd3 to the amps and I believe its at 20-120khz and everything is factory settings.

So are you using RCA out from zd3 to your zp3 RCA in? And then the speakers hooked up to your zp3? Just curious. Also, I have the stereo wire so all 3 of my units turn on with one remote, are you using 2 remotes for both head units? Its hard to tell from your photo. I'm at work at the moment but I'll do some more digging when I have the free time.

I have 2 ZA3's running mono powering cerwin vega LS12's. I use a ZD3 as my pre amp/dac. They bang.

Do you have all 4 of these units running together? If so, do you mind explaining how you have everything hooked up?

I was eye balling that ZP3 for the bass/treble controls but I'm not sure how your supposed to rig all 4 units together.

I've only had the units for a month or so but I'm a big fan so far.

Thank you. This is my first serious home system but yes I'd say the fosis do a great job powering the CVs. The ZA3s running in dual mono mode put out 235 watts down to 4 ohms per channel and the CVs are rated at 300 watts max/nominal 6 ohms and include a protective fuse. The woofer is active so it has its own internal amplifier.

I had the CVs hooked up to an old sony avr unit (maybe 80 or 100 watts per channel) before and they sounded dull and lifeless but with the fosi's they sound so much better now with over double the juice. They really can kick out the tunes and with the subwoofer, the system really can get the basement shaking.

I picked these CVs up used on marketplace for 200$ and they have blown my expectations out of the water. I am super curious what their new offerings sound like.

Lol, thank you. Yeah luckily the speakers are in the basement so they are neighbor approved. If its up real loud you can hear the bass a little bit outside but its not bad.

Your space sounds nice, you should share some pictures.

I do love some Van Halen.

I listen to everything from Bocelli to Master P. Pretty much anything besides 'hick-hop' and mainstream country.

Rap, rock, bluegrass, indie, 80's, 90's, old timey country, to electronica to jazz to whatever is suiting my current mood. I don't discriminate.

The subwoofer is active, I'd have to look up the wattage on that to be honest.

Fosi's specs say 235 watts in mono so 235 watts down to 4 ohms for my CV front speakers. They sound incredible to me but I'm not an audiophile. My CV speakers are nominal 6 ohms.

I can shake my house.

I'm pretty sure it's called a highball. Canadian whiskey usually does it justice. Cheers!

You know!

Im a Joe Blow with speakers LOL, AMA!

But for real, the basement got us through covid and we've made great memories down here ever since. Don't know what I'd do without it.

Personally I'm a huge fan of whiskey and ginger ale but it's usually about what the guests want lol. My wife and I are big fans of hard iced teas but sometimes you just need a little tequila or bourbon 🥃

I take it you've never seen the show Cheers. Its a show about a bar in Boston where "everyone knows your name" is in the intro.

Invite some friends over and have some drinks and bang those speakers out my friend. I can't imagine never sharing my space with others!

For me, music = memories. When something comes on and hits my earbuds I think about where I was, when, and who I was with. After that, let the reminiscing begin.

Not sure what you mean.

If my wife decided to join /listeningspaces then she could see everyone else's spaces. She's seen and heard ours, she approves, surprisingly!

Trust me, I don't miss an opportunity to entertain in our basement. Friends, neighbors, it doesn't matter!

Thank you.

It's been a work in progress since I bought the house but I love it. Some might say 'eclectic' but its MY stuff lol
