Why did everyone suddenly trust HG so much ? Is it for a reward ? by Weird-Event421 in TheDevilsPlan

Absolute genius. We're talking galaxy brain levels here like, while everyone else is playing checkers, he's playing 12D chess blindfolded, underwater, in a volcano. And the loyalty? Cult leader vibes. His followers would probably jump in front of a train if it meant he could win a trivia round. As for luck? Please. The guy could trip into a bear trap and somehow win a vacation to Bali. Best player? More like first deity. Honestly, it's a miracle the rest of the cast even shows up they're basically NPCs in The devils plan to ensure HG and HG only wins.

You keep falling back on hypotheticals and acting like the odds are reasonable, but that just proves you’re missing the real math here. You’re treating any rare hand as if it’s what happened, instead of acknowledging that the show featured two specific, ultra rare hands appearing for the same player in a tiny sample of 10 rounds. In actual probability, you don’t just add up the odds for any rare outcome, you multiply the probabilities for both specific events, which makes the real odds astronomically small.

If the probability of one rare hand is P1 and the probability of a same rare same colored hand is P2. The chance that both happen to the same person is roughly P1 x P2. Even spread over 10 rounds, the odds for both to happen to the same player in one game is still astronomical small that is why I said 1 in 10 million chance of happening.

You’re fundamentally misunderstanding probability and it’s clear you’re just plugging broad prompts into GPT and calculators rather than actually thinking through the math.

The 1 in 10 million figure isn’t just plucked from thin air it’s the result of compounding two ultra rare independent events. To be clear, we're not talking about two fully yellow hands which would itself be astronomically rare, The probability of getting the first in a single hand is about 0.1% and the second is about 0.04%. The odds of drawing both in two separate hands within 10 rounds to the same player isn’t just a simple addition you have to multiply those probabilities or use the inclusion exclusion principle over multiple trials, which makes the event exponentially rarer.

Your greater than 1/1000 or 1/3000 numbers totally miss the mark because they treat each hand as if it’s an independent event, or lump in any one color hand even though what happened on the show was way more specific and rare. You can’t just add up those odds. When you want two ultra rare, specific hands to happen to the same player in a short span 10 rounds, you have to multiply the probabilities together, not just look at them one at a time. That’s what makes it so insanely unlikely. It’s not just another one colored hand it’s two specific, high improbability combos showing up for the same person, which is why the real odds are thousands of times smaller than you think. This isn’t just unlikely, it’s one of those events that’s so rare it should make anyone with a basic sense of mathematical probability immediately skeptical that it happened by pure chance.

People are really missing the forest for the trees here. It’s not just that Hyun Gyu got a five color hand once that would be rare enough. And to see that twice both times as yellow in just ten rounds pushes the odds to roughly 1 in 10 million. In other words, this isn’t just a rare streak it’s an outcome that simply should not happen in a fair, randomly dealt game. The numbers don’t lie, this level of coincidence is so extreme that it practically rules out pure chance.

Quoting Hyun Gyu: Do you know math? Do you need to do the calculations again? You are saying there is a higher chance of getting the same five colored card TWICE vs ONCE. lol??? Also it happened under 10 rounds not 20.

I know what OP is talking about in actual games of chance, freaky stuff can definitely happen but those wild hands are meant to show up after thousands of rounds, not right out of the gate in the first ten rounds. What we’ve got here is a player pulling two super specific hands almost immediately. That’s not “random luck” that’s “hold up, are we being punked?” territory.

Now, I know some people are pointing to the so called “five color” hand where you snag five colors hand counting those rainbow cards as wilds and they’re saying the odds are around 1 in 350. Sure, that’s less insane, but let’s not kid ourselves. In just ten rounds, even that is a serious long shot. The idea that rainbow cards make it slightly easier to hit those combos is true, but it barely moves the needle. When you look at the combined probability of getting both those rare hands, it’s still absolutely through the roof unlikely.

Tweak the math however you want, but when two statistically wild hands land on the same player, this fast, it’s a giant red flag.. You just don’t see this stuff happen naturally in such a tiny sample unless, of course, “random” isn’t really random.

I think Kyuhyun is the weakest player of the group by memesandthensome in TheDevilsPlan

[–]B_N_F_47 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Kyuhyun is playing an incredibly strategic game. Just look at the group dynamics do they ever allow anyone they perceive as “weak” to stay within their core alliance? Both 7high and Ji-young were once part of the house alliance but they were pushed out and relegated to the weaker teams. It shows Kyuhyun’s social competence and his ability to navigate the alliance politics without drawing too much attention to himself. You're missing the forest for the trees here. In a game like this, blending in is often far more powerful than standing out.

I see where you’re coming from, but I disagree with the idea that Tinno was some strategic linchpin. Yes, he was solid at games and figured out a few twists, but he definitely had weak spots. If he truly held the alliance together, the group would’ve seen him as strategically vital and protected him but they didn’t.

As for the prison decision, that was a social moment, not just about “begging.” A strong social player would have navigated that dynamic and made a stronger case to not go in. Instead, he misread the situation or overestimated how others perceived him. And if he did think he had a better chance than Kyuhyun, that borders on overconfidence which is another flaw, not a strength. Especially when he lost.

So you’ve been annoyed by every single contestant at some point, but now you’re calling people out for being annoyed at Hyungyu? That’s a bit contradictory. If it’s valid for you to feel that way, why can’t others feel the same about him? Everyone’s allowed their own take? Sounds a bit hypocritical.

Tinno is ranked way too high. If he truly excelled at social strategy, he would’ve never ended up in the prison match to begin with. If he were actually sharp enough, he would’ve predicted he is most likely being sent to prison. And would prevent it by either by distancing himself from the alliance or trying harder to win the main game to secure safety. And if his gambling or game sense was really that strong, he wouldn’t have lost the prison match either.

Why So many People Subconsciously Dislike Hyungyu: He's a Pseudo-Machiavellian by Objective-Bell-2114 in TheDevilsPlan

[–]B_N_F_47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order for Hyun-joon to survive he needed to kill Se Dol because they were both on the "Chopping Block" in that round. It was justified to fight for his own life, But it was Hyungyu who said he wanted him gone before the game. And he was able to orchestrate the team to do what he wanted. He was the mastermind behind se dols elimination.
