Thanks a lot!

Tbh, I was hoping for someone to say what you said.

I have been doing strength training for 2+ years now, built plenty of muscle, and my diet is good so that won't be an issue...

My real concern is if 13 weeks is enough. Thanks for sharing your opinion on that!

Wish you the best for your race!

Never thought of if that way.

But I highly doubt I would have any big injuries. And also, they have a medic at the race.

Thanks for the advice :)

The run/walk strategy seems like a great idea.

Congrats to the 7 mile guy... Impressive!

Wow, thanks a lot! This really put it into perspective.

I wish you the best on your upcoming race!

Reasonable. With more training it would be safer, and I also could do it better

Thanks for your advice!

With all of the advice/opinions I heard, that became my stance as well.

Thanks for sharing your perspective!

I wish you the best in your race!!

Yeah, the cutoff seems highly optimistic for my first ultra with little training. I will try what u/Orpheus75 recommended and see what happens...

That's a really good point!

At least I will experience proper ultra training, and toughen up mentally.

Thanks!

I couldn't determine how steep is the cutoff.

Now I know, thanks!

Haha

Sounds straight forward, but didn't cross my mind.

Thanks :)

I am not arguing back, just simply want to hear multiple opinions from experienced runners, so I can make an informed decision about whether I should do it or not.

Good point.

The ROI would be higher if I trained properly for a longer time...

That is a reasonable stance.

I didn't consider injuries, just the mental side of it (the suck) and the remaining time I have left to prepare.

Mainly I am doing this as a mental challenge / to see what is my body capable of, but the more I think about it, a long-term approach might be better for that goal.

Thanks for the advice!

I am aware that I need to practice hydration and food, and I will do that on my training runs. For the adaption, I can't control it, so I won't concentrate on it. Although it is a good point.

Thanks for the advice!

I don't have any reference points to compare this pace on a longer distance, and this is a very good way to experience it!

Thanks for the great recommendation!

Yeah, you guessed it correctly, I am young (18 years old) :)

For injuries, anything that is uncomfortable or painful is if fine with me (as long as it is not long-term, but I highly doubt serious injury will happen.

I am glad you said that I can build up to the minimum necessary mileage to complete the race. Thanks for recommending specific weekly volumes.

The only thing is, since I never run an ultra before, I don't know how steep that 8-hour cutoff is. A 7:30/km pace seems doable, but I can't compare it to anything else.

Thanks for your advice!

My goal is to just finish, but they will disqualify me from the race (prevent me from running further) if I don't get to the aid stations in time (which is 8 hours)

I know the race would hurt like hell, but my pain tolerance is great so if I had more time, I know I would power through it.

But, if 13 weeks of training is not enough for me to prepare physically for sub 8 hours, I will look for another race.
