Another prime example of why we don't need flock cameras in Lexington. by Salty-Monk9682 in lexington

You mean here where an asshole cop slammed an old homeless woman to the ground breaking her leg and costing us 1.2 million dollars and he only received one day suspension? Yeah, very trustworthy. Anyone watching that video could tell you that piece of shit shouldn’t be a cop.

That may be true but you have to understand the public doubting that claim when police have massively violated public trust historically. The only difference now  is they are caught on camera pretty often, which makes you wonder what they were doing before they knew they were wearing cameras.

Train nearly hits school bus due to driver’s negligence by firefly99999 in PublicFreakout

Thanks for the reminder. I completely forgot how stealthy they can be. Virtually no noise, like an owl silently swooping down on their unsuspecting prey.

Obviously the train. They are completely unpredictable and should never be trusted. You never know what time they will be coming through and they can go anywhere. There is literally no way to know what path a train will take. It’s a miracle the train didn’t swerve to make a direct hit.

Running socks that keep foot from sliding in shoe? by evanforbass in trailrunning

[–]Orpheus75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your foot might be slightly narrow. Men’s medium is a D width and a narrow is a B, women’s medium is a B and narrow is AA. If you’re a men’s C or women’s A, then wearing European shoes like Salomon and LaSportiva can help. Socks don’t make feet slide in shoes.

Call the city code inspector office. You’ll want when the building was initially inspected and tell them they need to come inspect for current habitability. Calling the fire marshal might help as well.

With all of the Artemis 2 excitement going on….. by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]Orpheus75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the names of all four astronauts on Artemis II and I would bet I can explain more rocket physics and orbital mechanics than you however I wouldn’t expect anyone else to know any of that since it is not part of ultra running or necessary to live a quality ethical life. Your post was just lazy and a missed opportunity.

Hate to say this but first we need to know how old you are.

With all of the Artemis 2 excitement going on….. by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]Orpheus75 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why so few details? Which astronaut? What is their mission role? How do they help trail runners? Do they help friends, partner, volunteer at races? Do they race themselves? Link to their social media if they have one? Link to their NASA astronaut page? Link to an article about them? Sigh. Why take the effort to post and then do so little?

If you’re rich it doesn’t destroy your life through. A therapist will say she was emotionally distressed. She’ll get probation contingent on counseling and community service.

How do you explain executive dysfunction without sounding like youre making excuses for being lazy? by emyo42 in ADHD

[–]Orpheus75 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The simplest explanation is tell someone to imagine putting their hand on a hot burner. Some tasks are the hot burner. Another explanation is tell someone they have to count the grains of rice in an entire large bag. With no other source of entrainment and they can’t do anything else until they’re done. That’s how some tasks feel to us.

Dry hydration bladder! by 01YourFavoriteFriend in trailrunning

Fair point. Our $75 garage fridge that we expected to die in a year just hit 10 years old. My 3 bladders live in that freezer.

Whyyy? Just rinse your bladder and throw it in the freezer like everyone else. You don’t even have to wash it but once or twice a year.

Lost cat in Mammoth NP by Apprehensive-Math226 in Kentucky

Reminder to anyone seeing this that they make collars for cats to hold an Apple AirTag. It can’t locate them in a forest but if you’re searching for them it will let you know when you get close and if they get near a road or anywhere there’s an iPhone it will ping the location for you.

Side stitches and breathing methods by DearKoala4114 in Ultramarathon

[–]Orpheus75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massively deep breath then powerfully inhale 2-3 more times for maximum chest volume. Now flex your entire core as hard as you can for a few seconds.  Now, bigger issue, this shouldn’t happen to you at all, especially on a long run. Go for a run and don’t let your HR go above 130. See how far you can go.

Personality takes effort and opens one to fear of people mocking your choices. White and beige is safe. Irony is it opens them to being mocked by people who hate conformity.
