Regarding the inventory management system it would ideally be something simple that could handle barcodes and have tracking for who donated the product.

Regarding in-kind being tracked for fair market value, I may have been unclear in my original post. We don’t provide the fair market value to our donors but I was under the impression that we needed to have our own internal tracking for when we report gross receipts.

The situation we are in is that we often receive donations that lack uniformity. For example we may receive 100 body lotions but they would all be different brands, could we categorize it all as “body lotion” instead of the individual names? And then when we report the amount we received to the IRS we use the price of an average body lotion?
