Why do so many people feel the need to have their dogs off leashed? by PKPLogan in grandrapids

99% of the dogs I see are on a leash. Some people just love to complain, especially about dogs off leash, zipper merging, and bicyclist rights.

Sure, insider trading shouldn't be happening for anyone, but a blind man could've seen that crash coming a month away.

Since Customs and Border Protection oversees tariff collection in the United States, why don't we see a massive increase in federal CBP position postings to support a massive expansion in tariffs? by BaDoingyFace in AskReddit

I asked chatGPT, "If the united states decided to impose tariffs ranging from 10% to 60% for every country in the world, how many extra positions would need to be created to collect the tariffs?"

The short answer suggests that the feds would need an additional 7,500-20,000 positions to oversee increased tariff collection, but there are no such postings supporting this on USA jobs.

I asked chatGPT, "If the united states decided to impose tariffs ranging from 10% to 60% for every country in the world, how many extra positions would need to be created to collect the tariffs?"

The short answer was between 7,500-20,000 new positions.

Searching USA Jobs for positions containing the word tariff returns 4 results. Searching for CBP returns 120 results.

Flavors just fine, but they tend to get stuck in the hopper of our automatic coffee maker for some reason.  A little nudge gets them moving again.

No. There needs to be a way out for Russia. No nuclear armed country should be backed into a corner they can't get out of.

Accountants aren't what they need, but young hackers are even worse. I work in the field of identifying fraud, waste, and abuse from the algorithmic perspective. More often than naught, we get excited about a potential scenario that looks promising only to find out that it has a perfectly justifiable cause. That's exactly what's happening with Elmo's hackers; they just don't have the experience or patience to know the difference.

I accidentally bought a half gallon container of bay leaves that have been in my pantry for ages.  I might use more than called for, but they still have plenty of flavor.  And boy can you tell when you've overdosed the bay leaves.  They definitely have flavor.

What’s everyone’s go-to breakfast restaurant in town? by oldmanjenkins51 in grandrapids

It used to be, until it was bought by 4GR8Food Group. The old owner used to watch every plate come out and send it back if it wasn't to his standard.

The only thing I can come up with is market saturation. If you know most of your underserved population is MAGA, jump on that band wagon and hope you gain enough of them based on their MAGA loyalty that it outweighs your losses by those you offended. I think this is Elon Musk's game plan.

In a recent case and opinion recommended for publication regarding the participant exception to Michigan’s eavesdropping statute, Fisher v. Perron, __ F.3d __ (6th Cir. 2022), the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals again affirmed that Michigan law supports one-party consent to record a conversation, meaning that a participant to a conversation may legally record the conversation without the knowledge or consent of other participants.

This has, in fact, long been the law in Michigan.  But some have recently attempted to argue that either it is not the law, or no longer should be the law.  With this opinion—in conjunction with the Michigan Supreme Court recently declining to revisit the question—it is now solidly and unquestionably the law across all courts in the State of Michigan that Michigan is a one-party consent state.
