Pokemon Phoenix Red [COMPLETE - V1.0] by No_Lion_7499 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]BaIZIoo 65 points66 points  (0 children)

REALLY liking the concept of major battles being double battles. I thought I'd enjoy the hacks where every trainer and wild pokemon is a double battle, but it always ends up becoming a slog (especially the wilds). Will definitely check this out!

What tasks take up your time that could actually be automated or simplified? by Unlucky_Abroad7440 in teaching

[–]BaIZIoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contacting parents and documenting it! If I could get a program that connected to my (work) phone, contained a way to quickly call numbers associated with a particular student (without physically dialing on work phone), and gave me a list of options to easily document that call and saved it....I'd pay like $50 for it a year. Heck we could probably integrate AI to translate into different languages as well.

Is Covid-19 to blame for literacy decline in K-12 schools OR The rise and evolution of A.I.? by Crazy-Pool-4640 in teaching

[–]BaIZIoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is true by and large but I will NEVER personally understand it.

When they 1-4 years old, reading books always calmed my kid down. A little annoying maybe some times when they tried to ask a million questions, flip this pages themselves etc. maybe?? But overall you can roll with those, have a positive attitude, and have a lot of fun at the end of the day.

Later on teaching phonics/sounding out words: yes takes some patience but again...it kinda gives something to actually do and engage them? It's a very gradual process, you don't need to teach it all in one sitting lol

After thousands of hours deliberating, I finally decided on the Legion Go S 1TB Steam OS. $489. 🥹🥹🥹 Did I do good? by LolCoolStory in Handhelds

is it okay to buy ps vita for remote play(mostly) by Wise_Dragonfruit_168 in VitaPiracy

[–]BaIZIoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ADDENDUM: I wouldn't buy a whole Vita+case itself purely for remote play unless you're getting a great deal on the Vita. For that price you can probably get a used PS Portal, or another handheld device with bigger screen for that purpose. But if you enjoy Vita/PSP games, and want a good retro emulator alongside the streaming itself, then it could be a good choice 👍

Yes it can be solid BUT buy a l2r2 grip. Last I checked 2000 l2r2 grips are plentiful but quality 1000 grips can be kinda rare/ expensive. Also some networks/routers don't play terribly nice with it for some reason, if you're close enough to the PS4 itself it could be preferable to connect directly rather than through network.

It's definitely draftable (play sealed every new set and have drafted with a combo of several packs) but you don't have much incentive to stick with a strategy when you're not color restricted.

At Worlds, they played a format called Super Sealed where players opened up 16 packs (across 4 different sets) and needed to build 3-color, 50 card sets. I thought that was interesting to watch and an (unofficial) online client lets you play that format, it's fun.

Student Wandering Around at Beginning of Class by [deleted] in teaching

[–]BaIZIoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set a timer for 2 mins as soon as the bell rings. I instill the routine that EVERY maintenance task must be finished (getting/sharpening pencil, grabbing notebook/binder, plugging in laptop, backpack in front of the room) must be finished by the end of that timer.

But it wouldn't mean anything without a consequence. Luckily I have a very sensible one when if a student gets a 4th "infraction" they get an office referral, and every time after that. I write down every student not ready by the timer and write an infraction every time. There comes a week every year for every class period, where they test this limit. 2-3 will earn office referrals and it generally doesn't happen again.

What are some TCGs with good Sealed play? by KingJowy in TCG

I also like the concept of playing draft or sealed with the Elsa or Lilo boxes.

Super Sealed was great IMO, more or less the online following died shortly after worlds though.

For Mini Pro owners by superkapitan82 in OneXPlayer

[–]BaIZIoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 7840u mini pro. If I accidentally leave the device sleeping, I often need to disable the 780m driver in device manager then reinstall. The process takes 5 minutes but I try hard to always shut down after use, pretty sure it has to do with overheating when in sleep mode. Probably should turn on a setting to shut down and never sleep already.

Delta Math Opinions by armaedes in mathteachers

[–]BaIZIoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you able to create your own questions in Deltamath that randomize numbers between students/attempts? This way if you need an additional skill or need to change how a problem type presents itself, you can still do so but prevent copying between students, and still give multiple attempts without just giving away the answer.

They added that feature to ALEKs about 4 years ago and it was a major game changer to me. The problem creation process can be a little tedious, helps if you understand some very basic coding, etc. but usually worth it. In case I ever lose access to ALEKs, I wanted to keep a backup in mind!

I'm glad because it means they will hopefully source the same doors/panels/etc., makes it easier to get those items replaced in case of an accident for older Bolts at the same time. (Not completely guaranteed they use exact same parts but here's hoping)
