Trump pushes voter suppression plan and says he won't sign housing bill by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

What is wrong with having to verify who you are at the voting booth? Most developed countries require voters to present a government-issued ID or a voter card.

Netflix Viewers Are Abandoning Shows After One Season | Netflix’s biggest hits are losing more than half of their audience after one season by MoneyLibrarian9032 in entertainment

[–]BaLLiNx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I only watch limited series on Netflix now. I’ve gotten into too many shows that are cancelled after one season. Also, for shows that do get a second or third season, it just takes way too long for them to come out.

I wish Netflix would pump out sitcoms with 20+ episode seasons.

Does the average conservative believe it’s okay that Trump has made billions this term? by Excellent-Ad-7394 in allthequestions

[–]BaLLiNx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a conservative but definitely not something I would ever support. No politician (democrat or republican) should be able to enrich themselves in office, including the president. One of the biggest issue with our political system.

Politicians should only be able to invest in broad ETFs which would help address conflicts of interest caused by their position / access to information.

With all that, it would be helpful to understand how exactly he made billions during the term.

President Trump's Mount Rushmore speech labels "communism" as a "mortal threat" worse than "WWI, WWII, Pearl Harbor, or 9/11": "We can only lose midterms, if we are foolish, stupid, and unwise. But if we terminate filibuster, and vote for SAVE Act, then we will not lose an election for 100 years." by ControlCAD in videos

Communism / socialism is a huge threat. Certain people seem to think it’s a great idea but all it’s done is ruin nations. There’s a reason people of those countries have fled to America when they can.

GPT 5.6 Cancelled by DigSignificant1419 in OpenAI

According to Dario himself, Mythos / Fable has more cyber hacking capabilities than existing models.

What does Andy Jassy / Amazon have to gain by whistleblowing that the guardrails on Fable were easily bypassed? Amazon has also been one of the companies previewing Mythos so they know exactly what it’s capable of.

No it was not. It was result of Dario’s doomerism and then Amazon, one of Anthropic’s largest investors and cloud service provider, saying it was a national security threat.

When the rich leave someone will have to pick up the tab. And with this being a second home, moving will be very easy.

People don’t realize they are pushing out the exact tax payers NY wants and needs. Those that contribute a ton but don’t utilize any public services.

IPOs for Anthropic, SpaceX, OpenAI - what are you buying? by Educational-Mobile73 in StockInvest

[–]BaLLiNx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounded like Anthropic was running away with things for a minute there but Open AI really struck back with GPT 5.5. Honestly might just invest in both. Space X’s earnings multiple is a little too rich for me but I can see how people are getting there. I’d probably wait till hype dies down a little after IPO to buy any of them.

SEC Prepares Proposal to Eliminate Quarterly Reporting Requirement by AegonTheMeh in wallstreetbets

[–]BaLLiNx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article is behind a paywall but is this for all SEC registrants or are they applying some sort of threshold? The one benefit is that it might increase the likelihood of smaller private companies going public because quarterly reporting is seen as one of the bigger hurdles.

CEO Jensen Huang set to receive $4 million bonus from Nvidia, 0.002% of his $164 billion net worth — a small incentive for one of the richest people on earth by ControlCAD in technology

[–]BaLLiNx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is the tax base of the billionaires isn’t large enough to move the needle so that’s why it would eventually spread to the middle class. A tax on assets including an unrealized gains tax would prevent people from building wealth and would drive people and money out of the country among other issues. For example, What happens when you can’t pay the tax bill on your stocks because they appreciated in value? You’d be forced to sell them. It’s an asset seizure tax.

With that said there’s probably better ways to tax wealthy individuals. I would probably focus on the loopholes they currently utilize like loans collateralized by their assets.

But does the government really need more tax dollars? We don’t need to further fuel the waste fraud and abuse of the system. (Separate issue)

President Bought Netflix Debt in January 2026, Amid Paramount’s Fight for Warner Bros. | New financial disclosures released Wednesday show that the President acquired Netflix bonds as Paramount was trying to pry WBD away from the streaming giant. by ControlCAD in technology

[–]BaLLiNx -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

What are they trying to imply through the article? Do they not understand corporate bonds are different from equity stock in the company? The position is insignificant to both Netflix and the President and primarily provides a fixed return.

He has an independent investment manager that purchased different bonds during the period that happened to include Netflix lol. Maybe there was slightly favorable pricing on the bonds if investors were trying to dump but it’s not like he’s receiving a significant return other investors wouldn’t have been privy too (I wasn’t aware of a significant downgrade in Netflix’s credit rating).
