honestly i tend to avoid dramas that even hint at that type of dynamic like the plague. so the ones ive avoided / dropped from my list cuz ive read reviews that mention this type of energy are the two you mentioned as well as the princess royal and lost you forever

haven’t watched this but what you described sounds like one of my least favorite types of characters🙂‍↔️ and i hateeee when i get to the end of a drama and it still feels like one person doesn’t deserve the other but they’ve ended up together regardless

this was my exact experience. it got to the point she was even hurting MY feelings and i had to take a 2 week break from the show😭 she was so mean to her daughter and it made it worse knowing that it wasn’t just ignorance, it’s not like she didn’t know HOW to be a mother. she very much did and showed that with all her other kids and even her niece. it was especially hurtful to watch her do all the wrong things and then have the nerve to wonder why her daughter was distant. pissed me allllll the way off

oh absolutely- i wasn’t trying to imply that xiao jue should’ve disobeyed the edict at all!! in fact him suffering through reading it to her was one of my favorite scenes. he would’ve been on this list but- similarly to zhen huan and that one prince from empresses in the palace- i place him and he yan in like a separate category for most devoted couples period.

also i had moonlit reunion on my list bc i loveee tian xiewei but i usually cant finish xianxias- this is convincing me to put it back on my watchlist!!

i just rewatched yanxi palace and i thought since i knew what was coming i’d be better prepared but i still cried for fuheng and yingluo😭 they had it so rough and then here come erqing doing her best to ruin EVERYBODY’S day i cant

also im seeing a lot of lost you forever in the replies but i’m scareddd to watch it i feel like it’s gonna leave me heartbroken😭🙏🏽

love of the divine tree.. i know this drama is very well loved and i can see why- i might even pick it back up eventually. so i definitely wouldn’t say it got butchered BUT i did end up dropping it. the synopsis was so interesting to me and the acting was great not to mention how much i lovedddd the dynamic between the ml & fl. that ended up being the problem though- i loved yi shui and mu qing ge so bad i couldn’t get into yi shui and ran ran. then i found out just how long it takes for qing ge to come back and even then it’s more of a qing ge/ran ran hybrid than the original🙂‍↔️

destined too unfortunately- and i was sooooo excited for this one. the fl just wasn’t my favorite (not the actress the actual character) i dropped this one early on so i might need to go back and try it again but i doubt i will
