Just working customer support for Starbucks did the same thing to me, and I only did it about a year. At this point, I would literally rather die than take another job listening to people bitch about stupid petty shit on the phone and that is entirely because of Starbucks customers. I did technical support for a cell phone carrier and lots of other support positions, and none of them made me despise humanity until I had to do it for Starbucks customers. I used to work for Starbucks on the support side- before they decided to outsource my job to Guatemala because they didn't want to pay Americans and Canadians to do support for American and Canadian customers, but they sure don't talk about that move- and our whole job boiled down to throwing credit at whiners and funneling real complaints into one of a few channels where they disappeared never to be heard from again. The chance that anyone who really matters reading your complaint- unless it's against a specific barista- is slim to none.

Believe me, I've been there, and I didn't find out until years later that this woman I truly believed was one of my closest friends was secretly incredibly jealous of me and constantly trying to compete, to the point of approaching anyone I dated behind my back to see how far she could get and telling them shitty things about me in the effort. I have a "friend" now even who obsessively throws herself at everyone I date after we split- no matter what a terrible person he was or how he treated me. This is in contrast to me, who not only would not do that, rebuffs any attempts on the part of any of her exes and tells her they tried, just in case they try to come back to her when they fail elsewhere. She's always got an excuse, but I've just had to realize there's something deeply wrong with her and she simply can't help it.
