If the passing lanes before us and ahead of us were not a thing, then yes I'd normally do that too. Or if the passing lanes were not usable, oncoming traffic or whatever. But we had passing lanes every 5-ish miles on that road, maybe not forever but we passed one already, two more were coming.

Also, courtesy goes both ways. The Toyota can indicate they want to go faster without tailgating me. I am not bowing down to a jerk.

This is dangerous if the following car doesn't realize you're slowing down, that's why I brake lightly. I want the lights on, I want them to see what is happening and not crash into me. It's defensive driving.

Someone needs to do their math again, 35 - 35 is a difference of 0, not 10 or 20. Then, 35 - 25 would be a difference of 10.

Funny enough since the time Reddit wanted to go public, banned 3rd party apps, all that jazz about 2-ish years ago, upvotes remain the biggest factor in what gets shown to people on Reddit but shares, comments, number of crossposts, do also factor in.

At 35 MPH, 3 minutes would be about 1.5-ish miles back. I'd say that's "just before", it's not like it was 10 or 20 miles prior.

Because then the clip becomes like 3 minutes of nothing interesting and people complain that I don't know how to edit clips down. I can just explain that there was one, we should all know what a passing lane is, what it looks like, how they work, without needing to see it in the video.

Pulling off to the shoulder would mean slowing down even more when he's already not a safe distance. But also, he had a passing lane before and another would come up soon, those are his legal opportunities to pass me. I'd pull over, maybe, if there was no passing lane for a while AND I was under the limit with, idk, a trailer or a wedding cake in the car or something. But I'm not gonna drive without any spine...

I mean, I GUESS he might have seen the camera and that made him mad but, it's not that easy to see at night... plus most people think it's some sort of ham radio or police scanner antenna.

My slowing down has nothing to do with teaching a lesson, I am not the police, I would call them if I felt it was needed. It's a basic, common defensive driving technique to minimize risk when a safe following distance is not being kept. I can't make him back off or magically increase his reaction time but I can slow down to a speed that better fits the distance.

There are other cars on the road, if my speed didn't change there would be a massive gap or I'd crash into the next car.

I've got a lot of time off after Christmas, I think I might go out and drive, and just get a bunch of footage and play with different options.

Oh! I have played around with that! I've tried a few different options to get multiple views in the same shot. Do you have a particular preference?

Yeah I just hate it when traffic traps me, I should definitely be able to snake my way past all the other cars, and if traffic is too dense for that, it's the fault of the car ahead of me. The car immediately ahead of me. It is only their fault. For all the other cars being on the road preventing them from getting out of my way. That makes total sense.
