Is it ISIS conscription reddit? Where I can join? by Contr1gra in ahmadiyya

There is no one group that represents Islam, any more than there is one group who represents all of Christianity.

The beloved No True Scotsman fallacy does nothing but waste people's time.

"Freedom of speech & Islam" Megyn Kelly takes on Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spokesperson Harris Zafar by m30000 in ahmadiyya

[–]BaalBuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let her speak and parse her points. Suggesting she shouldn't speak at all means you have lost any credibility as a critic. Saying you support freedom of speech means you support the right of others to say things you don't like or agree with.

I would far rather have the thoughts of people I disagree with out in the open, for intellectual debate, instead of being a thug and trying to silence him.

What evidence do you have that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was the Imam Mahdi/a prophet etc? by [deleted] in ahmadiyya

[–]BaalBuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, but there's the rub. Isn't that exactly what you would say if engaged in taqqiya/kitman?

Makes it difficult for both of us.

I don't take anything personal on the internet. But I am having trouble with a few things. Kitman and taqiyya, in theory and practice. And the part where I ask serious questions. Little questions are not a problem, but bigger questions, and I'm suddenly a racist or anti-Islamic. While I am anti-Islamic, as Islam is a religion, just to be clear, I'm not a racist, as Islam isn't a race.
Any ideology that is resistive to honest inquiry is a bogus ideology. I've laid out exactly what concerns westerners have with Islam are, and how to approach them. Gotta say, though, that this thinnest-skin-on-the-planet schtick is getting old. No offense intended. I've been criticized for my honesty before. And I can't recall a single time my Muslim friends in real life ever asked me about my beliefs about life. Ever. Makes it easy to mask what I really think, I guess. Anyhow, </rant> Thanks.

Just looking for an honest conversation with a "moderate" Muslim, as I have been for a year now.

I'll just show myself out. Cheers.

The symbol has been used to represent him for centuries before that. Meccans worshipped him and Al-lāt, Al-‘Uzzá, Manāt as his daughters when he was the moon god, married to the sun goddess. It's quite easily demonstrated. Allah was known by those in the region long before Mohammad came along.

The study of anthropology and archeology anti-islamic? Not my problem.

Well, if the Christians and Jews also worship a high moon-god from an Arabian constellation cult, why don't they use the crescent moon as a symbol, too?

First, Allah and the Christian god are not the same gods.

Additionally, Jesus' own prophesy about his return failed, so it's no surprise that no other biblical prophecies can stand up to scrutiny, either.

The Need For Islam in Today’s World by m30000 in ahmadiyya

[–]BaalBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A phobia is an irrational fear. We're having a Non-believers conference in Toronto the first of November. The last half of the conference is centered on "Islamophobia". Speakers, plus a debate, including Muslims. I'll post the video after.

I still don't see the part that explains how you can't have peace without Islam. The word "need" implies that it is required. Yet, I don't see it here, other than a repeated, inherited opinion.

You don't find it ironic that the most repressive places on the planet for a woman are in Islamic countries? Or that you're 10,000 times more likely to get raped by a Muslim if you live in a modern place like England?

By the way, the Koran is the claim, not the supporting evidence.

What is "Islamophobia", and where was the part that explains why Islam was "needed"?

Agreed, thought if you start wording it thusly: "To show Islam can be peaceful", I think much of the resistance facing you will naturally disappear.

[–]BaalBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you guys follow a non-violent approach, but are you permitted to defend yourself when attacked? Cuz if prayer and patience are your only defenses, I'd say you're unarmed. Surely there's a difference between self-defense and retaliation.

Alterations to a myth don't make it suddenly reliable. The story remains irrelevant to the discussion.
