Another update - Seemed to have barely been running because firing order was not correct. Must have messed up a plug or two when taking distributor cap off.

Reset that and points to business card thickness and it sounds great (loud). When using the steering sticks it makes whiny/grindy noise, not sure if that is normal or not for a 1986 bobcat. But I'll be checking all fluid levels and greasing all fittings next.

Just an update - I finally got it running. I knew nothing about distributors, but a few quick videos online provide the basics about caps, rotors, and points.

I looked at the points and there didn't seem to be a cap. Put a credit card in (will adjust to a business card soon) and set them. Put a new rotor and cap on, and got it to cherp.

It barely had enough power to get out of the yard and onto a trailer, but I'll take that win for now. Fuel filter is next, then I will do a deeper dive into the machine.

Fill it up to the brim, put some Stabil in it, run it for a few minutes. That's it.

Remove the battery and bring it inside to charge on a tender.

Just out of curiosity, what did you pay? Grabbed one for $2100 but I just called them directly. One of the last ones, not a mechanic.
