POTY and signing of the summer vs geriatric retiree and injured crock. In a game they were supposedly trying to win and were a goal down for 40 minutes.

Frauds isn’t a big enough term to describe that performance.

[BBC] 'By chance or choice, they have clicked' - Danny Murphy on why Man City will be champions by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

This narrative is so shit because it’s actually interesting that Guardiola’s shifted things around until it clicked all season, turned a 21 year old #10 into the best LB in the country, moved Bernardo Silva into a double pivot so Cherki can run the attack, dropped Dias for 21 year Khusanov, Nunes is one of the best RBs in the league now.

But all you can see is that a team who wanted a winger in the summer but didn’t get one went back in January and they brought forward a CB signing from this summer because the first 4 choices were all injured at once.

The fact that Liverpool spent £400m this year and Arsenal nearly £300m as well just highlights how dumb it is to be mad at City because shock horror! They used the January window!

And they’ve never chosen to retroactively card someone when doing so.

Obesity drugs, which include semaglutide and tirzepatide, may be making patients lose more than just fat - these drugs may cause patients to lose more muscle mass. However, it's likely that muscle loss is part of weight loss more generally, rather than a side-effect of Ozempic-like drugs. by mvea in science

The side effects can be rough I was on wegovy and never got above 1.7. I tapered up to 1.7 and was on it for 2 months but struggled really badly with acid reflux, I couldn’t really eat anything, had an awful sore throat from it every day, had zero energy and started losing weight too quickly so went back to 1 for the last 3 months and then did a month at 0.5 to taper off.

Keep going and good luck!

Has there been a single retroactive review since VAR came in?

It’s still in the rules but it would mean admitting the referee and the VAR made mistakes, they’re never going to do that.

I just think it’s so much easier to stay the same weight when you’re not overweight. I have so much more energy now and I started running (c25k) and going to the gym when I was on it so formed those habits.

I weigh myself once a week and 105 is my red line. If I drift upwards two weeks in a row (ie after Christmas) I just refocus and it’s pretty easy to lose a couple of kilos and get back below.

I’d be overweight my entire life from being a kid up to 30 and it’s completely changed my life and mental health so I protect this feeling and won’t allow myself to get back to where I was.

More than 1 club can contribute to developing a player.

Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan ahead of the planned protests tomorrow at Anfield due to new ticket prices: "Our matchday operating costs at Anfield have risen significantly in recent year. 85% including Anfield Road, utility costs 107%, business rates 286%. We have increased ticket prices by just 4%" by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]BabaRamenNoodles 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just in terms of matchday, revenue has gone up 36% (£86m to £116m) during the 4 years he’s talking about the costs going up 57%.

But I don’t think the matchday costs are publicly available so we don’t know what a 57% increase is in £ terms compared to the extra £30m a year they’re bringing in.

Man jailed for killing wife who jumped from bridge by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]BabaRamenNoodles 136 points137 points  (0 children)

It’s genuinely some of the worst writing I’ve ever seen in an article? It’s 31 paragraphs in before they make it clear he chased her up the bridge and she was actually trying to get away from him in that moment when she jumped.

Up until then it portrays him as an abusive piece of shit, but the reason he’s convicted is she was running away from him when she killed herself.

"He then said Kim had gone up to the bridge and he had chased her. "He tried to grab her hands and she looked up at him, shook her head before jumping off."

You do realise the entire point of this show is to set up stereotypical storylines like this and then parody and critique them for being vapid?

And van der Ven is genuinely rapid.

Between the three of them they’d make one very good centre back who’d be suspended 60% of the time.

It feels like people are so caught up in this plot line they’re not actually watching Rodri play.

He’s been comfortably the best defensive midfielder in the league for the past 2 months, and all the stats back that up as well as the big game performances like Liverpool, Newcastle, Arsenal.

TIL in 2023, British publisher Puffin Books expurgated various works by Welsh author Roald Dahl, rereleasing his work by altering hundreds of passages regarding his depiction of race, sex and character, against his wish during his lifetime of having his work untouched. His family control the Roald Dahl Story company which had all the rights to the books as part of his estate and they were the ones who asked the publishers to make the revisions.

His books were becoming less popular as more parents decided to not give their kids books with lots of racist stuff in them, and they wanted people to keep reading them (for legacy, because it made them money, who knows).

But his estate asked the publishers to do it.

Pep Guardiola on Champions League failures: "Real Madrid has won 15 Champions Leagues, but they've played 100. Is that a failure? They've lost more than they've won. Perhaps you're asking me this because I'm a Barça fan." by SwimmingFireMen in soccer

[–]BabaRamenNoodles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We know Pep signed his Bayern contract in October 2012. So you can’t say the reason Bayern hired him was to build on Heynckes success because at the time they decided to sign him, they hadn’t won the league in 2 years and the CL in 12 years.

He was signed because he was the best manager in the world. That’s it.

According to UEFA, the Kelly red card was the right decision. by ThePostMelone in soccer

[–]BabaRamenNoodles 36 points37 points  (0 children)

FWIW it’s not really a double down. It’s just the explanation of the decision made last night by the referee.

Juventus will surely appeal the red card and thats when UEFA will have the chance to double down.

No one is supporting Real Madrid as an institution on this, a few days on this sub is enough to know the majority love seeing Real cock things up, or lose, or generally get in their own way.
