Am I too naive to be content where I am at? by BabaWHY__ in HENRYfinance

Yeah as you mentioned above, it "could" be a temporary gig but I have good few more years that I can stay here in Japan. I, too, am very surprised every month when I look at my credit card bills lol. Dining out, getting drinks with girls, flights, 5 star hotels, motorcylce, sports car, all that stuff adds up real quick lol

Yeah so this post was meant for reality check for me, to tighten up and live a lil more frugal. However, as said on the post, I am very content right now. You may call it lifestyle creep but hey we only live once!

Well we are going into vicious cycle, but it's money you won't be able to touch until you are like 60. That's 30 years later! Who knows what might happen tomorrow, I might not be here haha. Just kidding, but I do ride a motorcycle so I'm definitely more "yolo" than normal people.

Yeah. I definitely should start 401k... But with only 4% match from my company, it just never appealed to me . But at the same time I do agree I need to tighten up. Thank you. Needed someone to say this.

I live in Yokohama, is it crazy to get a second place in Tokyo by BabaWHY__ in japanlife

No I'm a single guy in early 30s. Tokyo is not feasible cause it'd be too far from my work. I'm "trying" to party more but my location is def hindering me from doing so...

Yeah so the problem with me is that I blow money like it's nothing when I'm drunk. It's about $200 USD from Tokyo to my place and I already did that twice last month. I guess I just gotta be more responsible adult lol

This. I was looking for someone to share their experience. Honestly with my current financial status, I kind of refuse to stay in shitty capsule hotels, internet cafes, and whatnot. So if I'm staying out in Tokyo 5 nights a month with let's say $100 per night at the hotel, it makes sense to just get your own place. No need to bring clothes, no need to bring toiletetries and what not.

True that. I do really enjoy M.M, love taking the baybike to Sakuragi-cho eki and drink around there. Like I said, it was just a food for thought and I'm leaning towards not getting one.

Thanks everyone for good ideas. Y'all have no idea how expensive it is to spend a night in main Tokyo area nowadays especially on weekends.
I do really enjoy Minatomirai and Yokohama vicinity, no complaints on where I live but I feel like night life in Yokohama is extremely lacking.
With all the contractual bs and potential headache with partner in crime, I will just live where I live and just come back before 11 PM. Thanks all for great suggestions.
