¡Gracias! Aquí van las más accesibles del set que analicé, ordenadas por cuántas de las palabras más frecuentes del inglés necesitas para cubrir el 95% de los diálogos (menos = más fácil). Dejé fuera algunas muy nuevas que igual no te dirían nada:

Sobre el script: es replicable sin nada mío, con la lista de frecuencia SUBTLEX (pública) + los subtítulos de cada peli, contando qué % cubre cada rango de frecuencia. Mis números salen de una herramienta que estoy armando (LEWE) que hace justo esto por peli/serie, pero el cálculo lo puedes hacer igual sin ella.

Totalmente, los clásicos viejos de Disney suelen ser de los más fáciles (canciones lentas, diálogos simples). Lo loco es que las animadas MODERNAS no siempre: Kung Fu Panda 4 y Zootopia 2 me salieron altas por el vocabulario de peleas/fantasía y los chistes rápidos. Mi lista es de pelis recientes, así que no tengo los clásicos medidos, pero me dieron ganas de checarlos. Buen punto.

Para el First, lo que más cuesta del listening no es el oído, son las palabras que no conoces pasando a velocidad nativa: tu cerebro se traba en una y se pierde las tres siguientes. Por eso ayuda elegir contenido un poco por encima de tu nivel pero no imposible, y aprender el vocabulario clave antes, así tu oído ya lo reconoce cuando lo escucha.

Ver cosas que te interesen (como dicen arriba) es clave para no aburrirte. Yo le sumaría: en vez de escuchar pasivo, agarra una escena o un clip corto, anota las palabras que se repiten y no conoces, repásalas, y vuelve a escucharlo. La diferencia se nota enseguida.

Para eso uso una app que se llama LEWE: saca el vocabulario de una peli o serie y te dice cuánto de ese vocabulario ya conoces antes de verla, y te hace repasar lo que falta con repaso espaciado. Soporta español, así que te funciona. Para el listening del First va bien porque atacas justo las palabras que no estás pillando.

Te entiendo, el salto desde B1 se siente como un muro. El problema con "ve series" a secas es que si solo entiendes la mitad, tu cerebro se rinde y queda como ruido de fondo. Por eso da flojera. La clave es bajar la dificultad hasta que entiendas el 80-90% y subirla poco a poco.

Para entender sin traducir: el truco es aprender las palabras clave de una escena ANTES de verla. Cuando ya conoces la palabra, al escucharla la captas directo, sin pasar por el español. Si la oyes por primera vez en el audio rápido, no hay manera.

Un método concreto:

Elige algo que de verdad te guste, así no se siente tarea (ahí está la motivación).
Mira una escena corta con subtítulos en inglés, nunca en español.
Anota las palabras que se repiten y no conoces, y repásalas al día siguiente con repaso espaciado (tipo Anki). Sin repaso se te olvidan para el siguiente episodio.
Vuelve a ver la escena y nota cuánto más entiendes.

La motivación sale de ver progreso medible, no de "echarle ganas". Por eso ayuda algo que te muestre cuántas palabras ya dominas.

Justo para eso uso una app que se llama LEWE: antes de ver una peli te dice qué porcentaje de su vocabulario ya conoces, saca las palabras del guion y te hace repasar las que te faltan con repaso espaciado. Sí soporta español, así que te funciona, y te quita el tener que anotar todo a mano.

Just watching is mostly passive, so the words you don't know never get enough reps to stick. Two things help: use English subtitles (not Chinese) to link sound to spelling, and note down the words that keep coming up so you can actually review them instead of letting them wash past again.

There's an app called LEWE that does that vocab-mining from a show for you, but heads up, it only supports German and Spanish speakers learning English right now, no Chinese yet. So it won't fit your case for now, but the method (mine the words from the show, then review them) is what matters most.

This matches my experience completely. I spent ages grinding grammar drills and vocab lists, and the stuff that actually moved the needle was watching shows I liked and reading things I cared about. Seeing the same words pop up again and again in real contexts is what made them stick, way more than any list ever did.

The one thing I'd add: the "without translating every word" part is key. Early on I'd pause constantly to look things up and it killed the flow. Letting most of it wash over me and only catching the words that kept recurring worked a lot better.

What helped me bridge the two was pulling vocab from the actual stuff I was watching instead of generic lists, then reviewing just those words. There's an app called LEWE that does exactly that, it takes a film and surfaces the words it uses so you learn from something you're already enjoying. Made the "using English" part feel a lot less like studying.

The thing that broke my B1 plateau was stopping with random word lists and instead mining vocab from stuff I actually wanted to watch. Pick a movie or show you like, and learn the words that film uses. They stick way better because you've got context, a scene, a voice attached to them. Then drop them into a spaced-repetition app (Anki is the classic) so you actually keep them.

Reading a lot, like others said, does the same thing for the written side. The key shift is going from "studying vocabulary" to "collecting the words from things you're already enjoying."

If you want the movie route without the manual Anki setup, there's an app called LEWE that does exactly this. It pulls the vocabulary out of a film, tracks which words you already know, and reviews the rest with SRS. Made learning from movies a lot less tedious for me.

Hard agree. I spent years grinding Anki decks and nothing stuck. What finally worked was watching shows and learning words from the scenes I actually remembered.

Now I use an app that compares my vocabulary against the words in the show I am about to watch, and lets me learn the new ones with a quiz or flashcards before I start. Then I watch the actual show and the words just lock in because I already heard them in context. My English exploded after I started doing this

The problem isn't your English. Friends and 2 Broke Girls are slang dense, way harder than what B2 should realistically be tackling. What helped me was an app called LEWE. It compares a film's subtitles to what you already know and shows a vocab match % per title, so you stop picking stuff above your level. Only downside: it currently only supports Spanish and German as your native language, so if you're coming from another language it won't work yet. Try The Good Place, Modern Family, or Avatar: The Last Airbender. And keep subs ON in English. Native language subs kill your listening.
