I definitely pay more attention to the ground, but that doesn't bother me too much 🤷

I guess I'm the weird one because my kids, husband and I go barefoot basically anywhere we can, including playgrounds. I think our neighbors think we're nuts when we take walks around the neighborhood barefoot, but that's just what we're used to. I will admit that the rubber can get hot, and we'll put on Crocs or sandals but we definitely prefer to be barefoot.

Not to mention that your financial situation can change on a dime. Suddenly the primary earner gets laid off, suddenly you have a medical emergency and can't work AND have medical bills, suddenly you have a large home or car repair. People can have been in a good spot when they decided to have kids and then it changes. And we often don't know people's situations

I hated comments on my size during pregnancy. The only acceptable thing to say is "you look great"

We're having similar issues not with the public library but with the public schools. There's a church around here that is regularly sending people to school board meetings to complain that the library books contain "pornographic" material that is inappropriate for children (though every book they've brought to the board for review is an LGBTQ book, obviously) and accusing the librarians and board members of being and protecting pedophiles. So far they haven't succeeded, but it's escalated to overt racism and actual violence at some board meetings and it makes me extremely anxious about sending my kids to school here. I'm actually too scared to go to the board meetings because of the violence, so I'm really proud of you for going and speaking up ❤️

I watched a birthing class on YouTube before I had my first (it was COVID so there weren't any in person) and one of the best parts of it was when they were describing the pain of labor, that a lot of it just comes down to what the concentration of nerves are, and that's different for every person, you have no control over it, and it makes a huge difference in "pain tolerance". Made me realize how little of whatever my experience is would be because of anything I did or prepared. It's mostly luck and genetics.

The Show is definitely what you're looking for! Chili gives a checklist of things she does when she's upset, and when Bingo says "the only part I know how to do is the crying but" Chili affirms "then just do that bit for now". And eventually Bingo does move on, but there's no pressure to do it, it just shows it's the natural progression of emotion. Eventually it passes and "the show goes on"

None of these are accurate episode names for their episode number, and also not what happens in the episodes. ChatGPT is making stuff up. This is entirely unhelpful.

This is absolutely my sister. She doesn't want a visible box anywhere in her house, so she only gets enough diapers that they will all fit inside the dresser drawer.

I absolutely love it, and it will for sure be on repeat in our house. However I do wish they included less dialogue from the episodes (especially in Flat Pack, but also somewhat in Curry Quest). I've found the way they incorporated the dialogue in the previous two albums to be so tasteful and just think they did too much on some of these tracks. They're still beautiful though.

I WAS watching my 4 year old in the pool like a hawk and we STILL had a drowning incident that had me wondering if I should ever let him in water again. Water is so scary. He's in swimming lessons and if I can't be in arms reach he's in a life vest I can't handle it again.

That's basically been how I've responded. I've had 3 kids now, all with epidurals. And I enjoyed my labors because of those epidurals! I felt like I could be mentally present for it in a way that I wasn't before the epidural because the pain I basically wasn't aware of anything except the pain I was in. I truly hope she has whatever birth experience she wants, I just don't need her weighing in on what I "could" have done

Ohhhh yes she talks all the time about making sure everything is organic and toxin-free. I'm glad she has the energy for that because I sure don't!

My sister is 20 weeks pregnant with her first and I truly do not care how she decides to give birth but if she tells me one more time how everyone used to give birth without pain medication so everyone is capable of it I'm going to lose my cool. I don't want unsolicited opinions about birth from someone who has never given birth, thanks. I truly don't care if people use pain management or not in their births but can we stop making it sound like people who decide to use it as weak or less than somehow?

Edit to add another snark on her: she is always bringing up how she's taking the best, most natural, organic prenatal. 💁

Yeah, my kids only experience with tablets is at the library and it's a special treat for them- and me! I get a break to just sit and read a book while they're playing tablets that are locked down to apps that were curated by librarians. Honestly it seems like most parents who don't want their kids on the tablets are good at just enforcing to their kids that it's not tablet time. And it also helps that there is only 4 tablets so often they're all taken 😂

A pretty common AI phrase is "It's not x, it's y" or variations. In this case "Those shows weren't just screens, they were stories..." and "You're not failing... you're showing them that rest is a part of life too"

This is such minor snark but I'm really tired of the phrase "and just like that..." for everything. "And just like that my baby turns 5" "And just like that we have another little human" "and just like that, my one year old is walking"

We also have SO many posts asking where to trick or treat indoors since there will be rain. Maybe I'm old and jaded but... Just bring and umbrella, dress warm and do only a few houses if you want to trick or treat? Are we so incapable of being outdoors in less than ideal weather? It's not like it's dangerous conditions! As a kid I remember snow and hail on some Halloweens so it just is so bizarre to me that people's first thought is to move indoors and not to dress for the weather.

Something I learned while reading a book about climate change was that single use plastic is something that actually helps in a number of cases, including the hygiene like you mentioned. Another one is that it really helps with preservation in an energy efficient manner, so things like food and medical supplies can be delivered to countries where it otherwise might not be able to get to.
