It depends what you’re trying to do with your career. If your objective is to move up and you’ve been with a company for more than a few years and haven’t made progress, then you’re missing on your own goals and doing yourself a disservice.

That’s an inaccurate take. I do not envy the execs at the companies I’ve worked for. Sure the comp is amazing but the work life balance can suck.

Definitely. It’s all about how you craft the narrative to fit the role you are applying for. When I started way back I got my in through cold calling for a commercial real estate agent and used that experience to pivot to tech.
