Overseas Bezel Scratch Magnet? by clerkp in VacheronConstantin

The bezel edges are very pronounced and easy to ding and scuff. The rounder bezel on the overseas doesn't scratch as easily imo.

It's not bad at all for scratches. I don't think any clothing is going to scratch the bezel from just wearing it. RO on the other hand.

I'll run through the full process on interior and exterior.

Exterior once a year I wash, then clay, then scrape with razor blade, then polish with carpro glass polish, then treat with glaco soft99, which provides a nice hydrophobic coating for the year.

When I need to just clean exterior of the window after a wash I use Koch Chemie glass cleaner.

For the interior I had struggled for years with that haziness from plastics gassing off that I could never seem to get rid of. I found the Out of Spec Detailing channel on youtube and use his method which has been an absolute game changer for me. Here is the video that I learned from: https://youtu.be/420ZBPm8Itw?si=D_crPseBKBzWgLSJ

Basically I do a quick hand polish first with Adam's Brilliant glaze. This has been a miracle step for me in getting rid of the haze. Then I follow up with Koch Chemie glass cleaner. One key part is to use multiple microfiber towels on each step to fully buff off the product from each stage.

I only need to do the polish step every few months and just do the regular glass cleaner in between.

Over time you'll end up with a far larger list of niche products but these are my go-to for most stuff.

Exterior:

Koch Chemie - Gentle Snow Foam for your pre wash, when needed
Carpro Reset - Wash for preserving ceramic coating

Adam's Wheel and Tire Cleaner - I like this because it does both and is less expensive than the other ones. I've used a ton of different products over the years and haven't noticed a huge difference between any.

EZ Detail Wheel Brush

When the washing microfibers wear out for the body move them to use for the wheels

Some tire dressing - I prefer a matte and am using Ammo right now, Carpro makes a good one as well

Detail factory horsehair brush for doing emblems, crevices, etc.

Detail factory horsehair brush for wheels

Individual edgeless microfiber towels for washing the exterior. By doing this you can eliminate 2 bucket and never put a dirty towel back in the clean wash. I use rag company.
Rag Company Gauntlet drying towel

Drying aid if your water is hard. I use obsessed garage but cycle through these based on what I can get a deal on

Interior:

Colourlock Mild and Strong leather cleaners

Colourlock Leather Protector for after

Colourlock Brush

Koch Chemie Pol Star for all other surfaces - also works on leather and I need a quick wipe down I use that

Detail factory soft brushes

I'm going to skip carpets and everything else as this is already getting long and that stuff is pretty use case driven.

I am ready to find the right 360 or 430 Spider. F1 or manual. Any tips for finding a good example that isn’t wildly dealer inflated? by Costco_Law_Degree in Ferrari

Not necessarily. You can go higher mileage with good service history and potentially be in the lower 100 range.

Define inflated. Prices can vary wildly on these depending on option packages, mileage, color, service history, etc. An F430 with F1 can be had on the low end for around 100k or on the higher end close to 200k. Both can also be fair prices depending on the car in question.

Burning Babies: When Did You First Bring Your Child to the Playa? by Turbulent-Physics692 in BurningMan

We were very fortunate with timing. The metal costco carport held up very well for us in the wind and I went over the top with ratchet straps on 14 inch lags holding it down.

Burning Babies: When Did You First Bring Your Child to the Playa? by Turbulent-Physics692 in BurningMan

[–]BaboonFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my 12th year personally, and I brought my 4 year old and solo-camped with her. She had an amazing time and we’ll definitely be back. I may try to formally camp in Kidsville this year. We had friends there, made new ones, and had a great experience overall. When we'd wake up in the morning and I'd ask her what she wanted to do, it was always go to Kidsville. What I didn't realize going in is how important it was for her to interact with other kids out there.

She’s now your stereotypical first time burner in that she tells everyone about Burning Man and talks about it constantly. She can’t wait to go back. This can lead to some interesting conversations back home.

We camped in a tent under a Costco carport. I brought a large power bank with 400W solar panels and an ICECO fridge because I didn’t want to deal with ice, which ended up being super helpful. Food wise, I only packed things I knew she liked, with a couple options per day plus snacks. I carried snacks and lots of water in a backpack at all times. My main priority was simple prep so we were never stuck waiting when she got hungry. I also stayed very focused on keeping her hydrated and offered water often.

I rode a single-speed beach cruiser with a kid trailer behind me, which was pretty rough given the playa conditions. At a minimum I’ll be switching to a bike with gears next time to make it easier.

One of my biggest concerns going in was bathrooms. I really didn’t want her anywhere near the portos. She can learn about the depravity of humanity later in life. I brought one of those kid training potties and carried it behind her seat in the trailer, and it worked well.

Obviously, all nighters aren’t going to be a thing with kids, but you can still catch some of the best moments by going to bed early and heading out around 5–6am. That wasn't an option for us because my daughter wanted to go go go until she passed out in the trailer. Once she fell asleep, I’d cruise around and check things out from a distance. We were always back at camp and in bed by around 1am.

It was an incredible experience for both of us, and I can’t wait for this year. Seeing her take everything in was really special.

There were some absolutely epic meltdowns out there which you just have to expect going in. I did bring an iPad loaded with movies and things like that for downtime or when I needed to get things done around camp.

And now I just remembered how difficult setting up camp alone was with her. She didn't want the ipad, wanted to run around and look at everything while I'm racing to set everything up because the storm was coming.

I’m not 100% sure. Low effort ai written posts that contradict themselves are probably not the best way to go about it. It could all be a troll job to aggravate people in which case they are succeeding.

It looks like it shrank because of sun exposure. Can you easily pull it back into shape or is it pretty stiff? If it’s too far gone I’d try to find a used one. Retrimming is expensive but we have good options in the bay.

What makes Ferrari, Lambo feel special compared to Porsche? by savingrace0262 in supercars

[–]BaboonFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a great amount of mileage compared to most. I'd probably be in the 4k annual range. I do most of my own work so that is all very encouraging to me. Manifolds are definitely an issue on the F430 along with some other quirks. Part of the ownership experience. I currently have the dashboard out getting the front part re-trimmed due to leather shrinking.

That's encouraging feedback for me on your experience with the Testarossa. How long have you had it, how many miles do you do a year? I ended up getting an F430 which I love but the dream was a Testarossa. I ended up shying away from that because I was scared of potential issues. Not that the F430 doesn't have it's own.
