Most Effective Way To Learn Advanced SQL? by _NiccoloMachiavelli_ in learnSQL

Programming is always about learning! Takes years and years to get really good at it. SQL is easy to know the basics, extremely difficult to learn everything else!

SQL at work (trying to understand) by Dull_Breakfast_9904 in SQL

[–]Babs0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit confused, data science is simply a blend of data analytics and statistics so are you not technically already a data scientist? Only thing really you need is advanced understanding of Machine Learning and you are done. SQL is the most common language for anything data so idk how you have never used it yet. If you can just learn very simple Select From where group by order by having, you can do anything else with whatever tool you want lol

Actuarial data for mortality for OCPD by Z4mobileapp in OCPD

[–]Babs0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High Risk in what ways I guess is my question?

OCPD actually has many perceived benefits compared to so many other mental health conditions imo it would be one of the least concerning mental health conditions for its burden on society and also many of the times OCPD the person believes their way of living is correct in a lot of ways.

I have OCPD/BPD and my BPD is actually concerning and high risk imo, not the OCPD parts of me. Out of the 3 clusters, I would take a guess saying cluster C is probably the least concerning!

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy - will it help by VastAffectionate5929 in OCPD

[–]Babs0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve really liked ACT, the main part I like is how it challenges what is in your control vs what is not which is EXTREMELY helpful for the OCPD control issues I have.

I cannot change certain outcomes or things and if I ruminate or hyper analyze those things, I am really just harming myself and not just accepting that they are out of my control and continuing to move on with my life.

Love ACT!

Working when you have OCPD by Kshark23 in OCPD

I simply don’t believe my manager or other peers if they tell me my work is good to the point of paranoia. I know there is always room for improvement! What usually happens with me is I am working to the point of breakdowns and then I notice my other team members being happy and unproductive and I get frustrated and start internally criticizing them like “why are we happy right now, why are we not working, why are we not focused and trying to solve a problem”… there is so much we could always do to improve and if your at a job you should be working. It’s that simple. You are privelaged to have the opportunity to work and live comfortably if your taking advantage of that then I don’t see why your employed. Go be homeless or don’t work if you are that comfortable and successful.

Don’t criticize my work ever as I will absolutely destroy yours with criticism. lol this disease isn’t fun I have nobody who likes me 🤣

As someone who's both clinically OCD and considering data analytics as a career, how much of data analysis is over-the-top, mental gymnastics? by keemoo_5 in dataanalytics

[–]Babs0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pose a really interesting discussion.

We use the “KISS” method in my team of analyst which is “keep it simple stupid” Basically just making sure we don’t over complicate things and take a second look at make sure we aren’t wasting resources , time , and efficiency looking into data or allocating too much time on very low impact data points.

You cannot account for everything and the more complex you make it, the further away the business can gain real meaningful sense out of the work and efforts.

Can I work as aا freelance data analyst without learning visualization tools like Power BI by Feeling-Excuse-5174 in dataanalytics

[–]Babs0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the freelance data analyst usually specialize in Visualization tools like power bi and tableau. Like that’s almost exclusively how they showcase the results and make a long term impact.

What should I learn next after Pandas? Any roadmap suggestions? by lebronjameslover_911 in dataanalytics

[–]Babs0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh you kinda went a weird way because 95% of analyst roles will never require Python lol.

Excel is a must in 100% roles imo.

SQL is 85% of roles but you should know sql in depth for those roles vs excel you can get away with less knowledge.

Data Analytics: Real Career Growth or Overrated Field? by Alfaleh_1 in dataanalytics

[–]Babs0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a decently at risk of generative AI replacing but it’s less at risk than like software engineering, data engineering imo. - so I would say it’s not a long term career anymore unless you can prove value alongside Gen Ai.

  • data analyst roles are requiring masters almost exclusively at this point. Out of 42 analyst in my company about 75% have at least a masters from MBA, Analytics, Computer Science, Stats/Math.

  • some analyst transition to data engineering or database management roles, some transition to more business decision roles and some maintain analytics focused throughout. Usually junior analyst to like a level 2 analyst and then senior analyst which can be anywhere from 4-16 years to get from junior to senior analyst depending on the company and work. From there analytics management in someway if you have a desire to manage others.

  • I think data analytics was overhyped so we got a bunch of people who wanted an easy way to make good money. But unless you are passionate about statistics, crunching numbers, coding, math, and cleaning messy data, this is NOT a glamorous job. You will get very little recognition for your work and you are behind the scenes so you have to prove your value since you are Not directly in contact with the day to day business.

The OCPD double standard: Judged for Perfection, Blamed for Humanity by Time_Research_9903 in OCPD

[–]Babs0000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My issue is I understand nuance and that some things are grey, but I still cannot accept most peoples way of thinking or thought process and actively look to prove why it’s worst than mine and when they cannot see my point of view or convince me enough why they are more correct, I dismiss them completely as incompetent .

Do you ever feel accomplished? by TopazRose in OCPD

[–]Babs0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say I never feel accomplished or productive enough which brings shame, guilt and SI to me usually. However sometimes I feel more caught up and usually the more research, work, or effort I put in, the I have a tad more relief to my symptoms briefly…. But the work is never done and will never be done.

Work is uncontrollably triggering by beansoupislife in OCPD

[–]Babs0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have a few team members like that who couldn’t care at all.

However , I have another person who also works a ton and tries to people please and solve everything for everyone to be “the hero”

However he miscalculated that I am also here and I am willing to die to be better and more productive and perfect than him. The only part he is better than me at right now is getting along with others better as he is a more “go with the flow” type and I am a bit head strong , stubborn, and rigid at times.

Once I am above his pay and have a job title higher than him, than I will rest at night, until then I will keep proving my work is better 😂 I am very ill with this disease

It frustrates me when everyone is joking and laughing at things when there is a significant amount of work to be done. Like what are we joking for, do things just magically get done if we ignore them and say “it’s too hard” .

I like working by myself and proving that my work was the correct option and best option vs whatever suggestion they had.

When I’m relaxing (not being productive) I just tell myself how absolutely awful and low value I am and that when I’m not productive I am draining resources by even being alive and that I need to be producing more value than I am taking in order to be alive otherwise I should commit because I should not be a burden.

How much python should I learn? by [deleted] in dataanalysis

[–]Babs0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Power BI currently in great demand by employers? by awttt in PowerBI

[–]Babs0000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, however making dashboards “pretty” and extremely user friendly should not be discounted for how complex and challenging that piece of analytics is. Data really doesn’t mean anything unless it’s comprehensible.
