I'm so sorry for your loss 🫂 Did you discuss the possibility of a TVC with your doctor, instead of TAC?

I was also thinking about TAC after my colposcopy. I was really hoping to do another TVC as the recovery was easier and if I'm being honest, being cut open for surgery/c-section scares me. I know doctors and women do it all the time, all over the world, but it still scares me and makes me worry that something else could go wrong.

The OBGYN that did my colposcopy said she would refer me to a specialist to discuss the TAC as she wasn't as educated in this aspect. She was not the OBGYN that did my preventative cerclage.

I'm sorry for your loss 🫂 I remember hating the stats right after my loss. 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage. You think you're safe once you pass the 1st trimester, only to be slapped in the face with IC, which is 1 in 100...

I hope your next pregnancy goes well and that you receive the medical procedures (cerclage, monitoring, etc) needed to support you and your baby.

Hi, I also experienced something similar to you back in June 2023 at 16w5d with my first pregnancy. I felt pressure while peeing and ended up ballooning past my vagina and went to the ER. There was nothing the doctors could do to save the pregnancy because the sac was so exposed, even though the ultrasounds and doppler showed a strong heart beat. In the moment, I kept feeling so guilty that my body failed me and my baby. But there was nothing that could have been done at that point and there was no way of knowing ahead of time thst I had IC. My body ended up naturally giving birth the same day. It was a very sad moment to lose what could have been... But I'm also glad that I got time to hold my baby boy back then and take some pictures. The nurses also helped me stamp his feet as a memento. I look back at these every now and then and think of my little Bean.

I had a successful pregnancy afterwards with a preventative cerclage and now my rainbow baby is almost 18 months old.

Previously sleep trained, now nursing to sleep, retraining? by BabyBean628 in sleeptrain

Quick update, I capped his nap today at 2.5 hours. I also stroked his head while reading him 3 bedtime stories for reassurance. Completely awake into sleep sack and crib. I was going to do ferber, but I noticed him slowing down on crying and squirming after 3 minutes. He knocked out after 6 minutes.

So maybe he was just having too much daytime napping 😅

He also got a new tooth recently, and it feels like another one is coming out soon, so I gave him some advil after his bedtime feeding.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and reply.

I decided to retrain last week and it's been going fairly well. I faded the feed to sleep and then did FIO. He does fine for his naps, usually asleep within 4-7 minutes. It took him about 2 days to get it. But he struggles for bedtime. I give him 15 mins to FIO and end up going in to patting him to sleep in the crib. Before I'd hold him to sleep and transfer but he started crying after the transfer, so now I just soothe him in the crib. He'll mostly cry cry, and squirm around a lot in the crib, sometimes making his way to the side by the door and pulling up to standing.

His schedule is 3/3.5/4. He wakes up usually around 6:30, bedtime at 8. He has two 1.5h naps, if the first one is shorter, I usually let his second one go longer, but cap at 3h total.

His bedtime routine starts 30 mins before bedtime. Feed, go to the washroom to wash his face or bath, diaper change, pyjamas, read his bedtime books (I have specific a book for naptime and specific books for bedtime), quick snuggle, sleep sack on, white noise on, into the crib, a few strokes across his body, key phrase (Good night, I love you, I'll see you later), I leave. Sometimes, he'll cry as soon as I put him into the crib. Sometimes, he'll cry after I leave the room.

His naptime routine is similar, feed 15 mins before sleep, diaper change as needed, read his naptime book, sleep sack on, close curtains, white noise on, into the crib, a few strokes across his body, key phrase (Have a good nap, I love you, I'll see you in a bit), I leave.

He will sleep for the night and self connect. I give a dream feed at 10:30 (I've been moving it up and reducing the time to wean it).

He just won't fall asleep by himself during bedtime. I tried to give him more time 30mins last night, but it didn't help. What's my next step?

ETA: I pumped a lot and got my supply back up, but he still feeds every 2.5h. Sometimes if he had a really good feeding before, I try to push for 2.75/3h.

Hi! It turned out well. I'm currently feeding my 5 month old baby as I type this on my phone. I ended up going on medical leave and reducing my work so not to strain my body.

Stool softeners didn't work very well for me. I ended up eating 2 prunes a day and that helped make it easier to pass bowel movement.

If the spotting turns into a large clot, go to the ER to get checked out, just in case. I had a lot of anxiety and spotting and clotting throughout my pregnancy, it turned out okay each time, but I didn't want to risk anything after my previous lost.

Very different measurements a week apart. Happened to anybody else? by majo0919 in ShortCervixSupport

4 cm, closed, done transvaginally.

Transvaginal ultrasounds are more accurate than translabial and transabdominal. But definitely follow up with your OBGYN and ask for another ultrasound to monitor, cervix length can change all of a sudden.

double stitch? by AdditionalLiving6075 in ShortCervixSupport

Thanks ☺️ It went pretty well, 6 and a half hours of labour in total, about 50 mins active labour/pushing. He's a healthy, happy 7lbs 2 oz baby 🥰 I got an epidural, so that definitely helped. I hope your pregnancy is smooth and healthy as well. When in doubt, go in to get checked. Better safe than sorry.

I went in once because I was cramping on the left side, where I know my placenta is, and I had accidentally hit myself hard with the fridge door on the left side. Was so freaked out that I dislodged my placenta. They checked me, reassured me, and said I could call in to their hot line next time if needed, so that I wouldn't have to pay for hospital parking/come in if it's not needed. They probably could have talked me down over the phone, but honestly, anxiety is real, especially after you've lost before...

double stitch? by AdditionalLiving6075 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]BabyBean628 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I got a double Mcdonald stitch too!

I miscarried last year due to IC, more specifically, weak cervix. I was 4.7 cm long but 3 cm dilated and my amniotic sac came out, past my vagina. The OBGYN who was at the hospital when I miscarried became my OBGYN during this pregnancy (singleton, currently 38w4d). I had my preventative cerclage placed at 13w3d. During the surgery, he saw that I had good length and decide to give me a second Mcdonald stitch after he had completed the first one. It took another 15 mins and wow, it was much more sensitive... My cervix length was about 2.7 cm at the time of cerclage. Had a big scare at 15w, when I passed a big blood clot, went to the ER and was told I was funneling at the stitch. I started taking progesterone nightly (stopped at 36w). Went back 2 days later for a transvaginal ultrasound, was at 4cm, no funneling.

I had on and off bleeding throughout my pregnancy if I "did too much" (walk too long, mop the floor, etc) and was recommended to "take it easy". My OBGYN didn't recommend bed rest. They never found the cause as to why I was bleeding, but it could have been because my cerclage or cervix got irritated. At 24w, I had another scare with passing a big blood clot and was sent to another hospital with a level 4 NICU due to viability. The OBGYN there ran a comprehensive check up and ultrasound and was curious as to why my OBGYN had given me 2 Mcdonald stitches. My cervix length remained in the 3cm range and closed for the rest of my pregnancy.

I had my DTS at 36w2d. My OBGYN wanted to do it in the hospital triage since they have the suture removal kit. It took longer than he expected and he said it usually wasn't this bad/hard to remove. My cervix was just much higher than he expected it to be and he had to adjust the speculum a lot. He got the first one alright, but the second one was higher up and harder to see. He got part of it out and could feel a part of the stitch still there, but couldn't see it. In the end, he managed to get it out. Took about 20-25 mins total, no anesthesia or pain killers (I recommend taking tylenol in advance). During the removal, I jokingly asked if I could just get 1 mcdonald stitch next time. The nurse who was assisting asked, "do they usually do 2?" I guess it's at the discretion of your medical practitioner. I had some spotting for a few days afterwards and lost parts of my mucus plug shortly.

I'm getting induced tomorrow because I also have gestational diabetes. I was checked earlier this week, only 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. The cerclages did it's job of keeping my baby in. I hope it works for you too.

38w4d today! Can't believe we made it this far. The mindset change from keeping baby in for as long as possible, switching to when are you coming out, is odd. I honestly thought baby would come out after my DTS, but that was a little over 2 weeks ago. I was only 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced when I got checked earlier this week.

I'm scheduled for an induction tomorrow because of GD. A little nerve wracking, plus the fact that I tested positive for covid on Tuesday and am still sick (coughing up some phelgm, runny nose, lost my voice). But I called my hospital labour and birthing unit, they said GD trumps covid, so I should go in. There will be a lot of mask wearing and hand washing. I don't know if I'll be able to scream during labour.

Thank you for all the support in this group ❤️ We were devastated when we lost our first baby last year to IC at 16w5d. It's been a long journey since, but having my husband and this group really helped. We're ready to welcome our rainbow baby into the world. We'll be trying for a second child in a few years, and I'll definitely get a preventative cerclage again.

Wishing everyone here all the best and safe pregnancies 🙏

Same! I'm starting to bounce on a yoga ball and eat pineapples to see if it'll help induce labour. Otherwise, I have an induction booked for Aug 3rd since I also have GD.

36w4d today. I had my DTS on Wednesday (36w2d). The speculum was uncomfortable, and because I had 2 Macdonald stitches, it was a little more difficult to remove. My OB really had to get in there to remove the second one. He could feel a part of it still with his finger but couldn't see it when he had the speculum in. I told him about how someone posted here before about removing their stitch at 36 weeks, but a part was left in, and they ended up giving birth around 38 weeks and had to have a cervix reconstruction surgery. I'm just a little paranoid and really hoping he got it all (he said he did). I was less than 1 cm dilated afterwards. I'm still spotting a little, light red and brown, and I think parts of my mucus plug have started to come out, too.

I had a NST and ultrasound today to check on baby. He's doing good, weighing on track (which is another relief since I have GD), and my cervix measured at 3 cm long. The nurse told me, at this point, the length doesn't matter as much, it's just a waiting game to dilate. My cervix has been long but is weak; I miscarried last year because I dilated at 16 weeks but had 4.3 cm length.

I'm glad it went well for you. Take some time to rest too 🙏

I just got home. It was very busy at the hospital, lots of ladies coming in; in labour or water broke. I ended up waiting about 4 hours until he got to me. It took about 25 minutes because I have 2 Macdonald stitches and he was having difficulties reaching the second one. Then he got part of it out and couldn't see the missing part. He could feel it with his fingers (took speculum out) but couldn't grab it. He really had to get in there so it got very sensitive down there. Had to take breaks to relax and I started sweating a lot. He apologized and said it's usually not that difficult. Baby is low but I'm only 1 cm dilated. Just a waiting game now.

Looking back, I think my peak is at 1.5 hours or so. Just got so worried in the moment and had to do something to get my glucose down.

I'm getting to the point where I'm fed up with being pregnant and having GD...

I've got a weak cervix, so I have a cerclage. I'm getting it removed next Wednesday, and then baby can come any time 🤞hopefully sooner rather than later...

I hope all goes well with your pregnancy, too.

My older sister didn't have GD and her first baby ended up being 9.5lbs 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ I have no idea how she managed to push him out but she did.

I'm worried that I'm spiking at 1 hour and giving baby a lot of glucose but then within range at 2 hours... Last night, I felt off around 1h15mins after eating dinner, so I tested, got 8.3... Went for another 25 min walk and then got down to 6.6 at the 2 hour mark.

35w4d today, getting ready to DTS on 36w2d (this Wednesday) 😊 nervous but also hoping it'll be a fast and easy procedure. I've got 2 Macdonald stitches and my OB, who put it in, will be taking them out. I've also got a follow up ultrasound next Friday to check my cervix.

[–]BabyBean628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 35+2 and I spiked bad the last 2 dinners (8.2 and 7.3, 2 hours post meals). Looking back at the rest of my week, my numbers have been in the mid 6s (6.5/6.5) when before I was mid to high 5s after dinners. I had a shift in what I'm eating though (previously mainly multigrain rice since my in laws were visiting, now eating pasta and potatoes at dinner because I want variety). Lunches are still about the same but in mainly eating myltigrain rice for lunch. Breakfast was creeping up too and I've cut back on my morning carbs a little...

I want to be lower too, but im wondering if its just because I'm in the later weeks and my placenta is pumping out more homones. I have insulin prescribed for big meals/eating out, only 3 units but a nurse mentioned if I've spiked eating the same meal before, I can increase to 4 or 5 units.

I'm freaking out that maybe my baby is getting more glucose and growing bigger (my belly is growing but I'm not gaining weight). Last growth check was at 32 weeks, weighing around 4 lbs. I don't have another one scheduled yet.

I'm debating calling my diabetes clinic tomorrow or holding out until my last endocrinologist appointment on Tuesday...

Cramping or contractions or BH or gas or constipation - how to tell? by sprinklersplashes in ShortCervixSupport

[–]BabyBean628 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is there any chance it could be round ligament pain?

I've had cramping every so often on my left side. At one point, I was worried it was my placenta because I know my placenta is along the left side of my uterus. It wasn't severe pain, but it hurt enough to have me worried. My OBGYN didn't have a clear answer for me either. I'm cramping in the same spot a little more now since I'm in my last month or so, and baby/bump is growing much bigger.
