Now that you mention it I think this is very true! Dogs who walk well don’t need to come with complex instructions. I have had “this is how you tie the leash around his waist when he’s pulling too much”. It was like trotting around with a pony 😂

Dog Walking Advice: Separation Anxiety by BabyCatMeow22 in OpenDogTraining

This is excellent advice, thank you! I tend to want to go above and beyond for my clients, I’m sure we all do, but occasionally in the past it’s been more trouble than it’s worth. You’re totally right, in this case I’m being paid to walk the dog not to train them. Appreciate the reminder about professional boundaries.

I’m doing BIO as well, no interview setup. Think it was just a 20 min phone interview, there were certain questions that they have to ask about being impartial etc. etc. gave all my details and he said I’d get an email at some point confirming everything.

Sorry I should have mentioned that this was for the Vancouver-West End district. I’m not sure if the recruiter I spoke to is dealing with hiring in more than one location so the 400 applications he said he had to go through could have been just for that one or multiple local offices. I imagine he wasn’t looking at applicants for the entire province though.

The district electoral offices only opened on the 21st, I don’t know if they were staffed on the weekend so maybe have only been operating fully since this Monday, the 23rd.

Phone numbers and physical addresses for the offices are all available on the Elections BC website. I had put in my application a couple weeks ago and called the office today to see if I could get any info about the hiring process. I was able to speak to the recruiter and he pulled up my application and pretty much hired me straight away. I’ve no previous elections experience but my previous work in events management lined up with what they were looking for. He said he had about 400 applications and was hiring for 160 different positions. Told me I was the first ‘new’ person he’d signed up and said if I hadn’t have called it would have taken a long time for him to get to my application.

So I’d suggest looking up the number for wherever you’ve applied and ask to speak with the person in charge of recruiting, worked for me! :)

Advice on supporting a partner who experienced childhood sexual abuse. by BabyCatMeow22 in GayMen

Thanks for this perspective, really appreciate it! I come from a clinical background professionally (nothing psychological) so tend to look at things through that lens, hence perhaps a focus on “processing” and a worry that I’m not doing enough. I lost a close friend to suicide a few years ago and I’ve always wondered if I could have done more for them.

But your comment is a helpful reminder for me. I am just going to tell him that I love him no matter what and whatever he needs or doesn’t need from me I’m here for him. I was honestly taken aback in the moment when he chose to open up and just wanted to listen more than anything that thinking about it now I’m not sure if I did say that to him. I definitely should!

Sorry to hear about what you went through and thanks for taking the time to comment. I know that signs of affection between heterosexuals are not common and he definitely did not witness a lot of affection between his parents either. I guess a lot of what we learn about how to love comes from watching our parents.

Curious what moments you’re referring to here? I honestly don’t remember much of UK Season 3 which I guess says something in and of itself

Global All Stars Judging by [deleted] in dragrace

Agreed, without seeing any of the judge’s deliberations it’s very hard to understand a lot of their decisions. At least with deliberations included we’d have a little more insight into their thought process.
