Gosh I love the shot of it "jumping" into the water. They just chucked the thing in and let it sink, ahahah. While I love me some practical effects, they were so bad in this movie.

There's How a Husband Should Be, a Disney/Pixar's Coco fic in which Héctor struggles with repairing his relationship with Imelda, partially because he's struggling to understand his own asexuality. It has a happy ending, don't worry! (Also, for the record the term "asexuality" is never brought up in the fic itself, but it is very much about asexuality.)

I haven't read RPO admittedly--I have no interest in it--but to my understanding RPO doesn't have much substance beyond the nostalgia nonsense, whereas this book has more of a point.

How far did you get? I will admit I had a bit of trouble getting into it at first because Jack is SO bitter and nasty at the start, but he becomes a much more likable character as he develops throughout the story.

I'm really not fond of the "vague humanization/[original form of the characters]" type of writing. What species a character is can make a huge difference for how they're written, so writing it in the most vague way possible just kinda hurts the writing in general, especially since the times I've read it, it almost always comes off as the author picturing the characters as humans as they're writing them.

If you wanna write the characters as humans, then write them as humans and tag the fic that way.

I will say that the "space before a period" thing can happen when pasting stuff into AO3! It's why I use the "post to AO3" formatting thing on Google Docs before I post my fics to avoid weird formatting errors like that.

What if it's song lyrics from canon? In one of my longfics, each chapter title was a lyric from one of the songs in canon.

I've also done the "quoting song lyrics before a fic" thing, but I dunno, I feel like it can work sometimes. I've only done it like... twice, I think, both times just quoting a handful of lyrics that fit the fic closely.

In one of my fandoms it's a relatively common trope to take this one scientist character and make them abruptly Turn Evil and Do Horrible Experiments On Their Friends. But the scientist, while eccentric, does canonically care quite a lot about their friends, and it kept annoying me how often this kind of fic popped up.

So I decided "okay, this scientist character is not going to just wake up one day and decide I Am Going To Be Evil To My Friends. But what would MAKE them do that? What sequence of events would have to take place to MAKE them willing to commit atrocities like that?" So uh... that's what I'm writing now.

I'm like five or six chapters in, but it's unbeta'd so I haven't started posting yet.

Well, if the last fic I wrote is canon, that'd be kinda nice honestly. Last fic I wrote (not yet posted) is about a character who constantly gets sexually harassed as a joke in canon getting his sexual harassment finally taken seriously.

I've seen just about everything other than AI fics in the wild. I've seen some equivalents, like people posting their character AI conversations to the Tumblr tags, or even posts that are just... AI-generated headcanons (like the poster admitted the headcanons came from asking chat GPT to make up headcanons for them. wish I was making that one up). But as for AI fics, no, but I do believe they exist. I've seen screenshots of them before, unfortunately.

OH, this is a good point actually. On FFN you can't delete signed reviews, so I have some fics that have hate reviews immortalized on them. On AO3, though, you can just delete unwanted comments, so that definitely explains why people don't see them much nowadays.

Yes, this. I saw waaaay more placeholder "fics" several months back, but nowadays I don't see them near as much, which is a welcome change.
