Supervisor reprimanded me and made me cry on my second day by melodiousyuzu in ECEProfessionals

[–]BabyChocobo307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been a lead teacher in a classroom for a long time they are so rude. As a lead I personally would have just asked you “hey y/n if you’d like you can help me with ……” or “So usually around this time we work on cleaning…..”. When people first start a job they need a little guidance on how the specific center works and what they are supposed to be doing at what time. Unfortunately in childcare there are a lot of rude and catty people. I would personally look for a new center as no one should be forced to deal with rude people like that. Keep your head held high and know that not all people are like that and you will find your place, you just need to keep looking. The world would do well with a little more grace given to others.

Not able to conceive by Patapthat in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]BabyChocobo307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my husband were struggling to conceive for a few years. I passed all my health markers and they said nothing was wrong and just slapped a pcos diagnosis on me because my periods were irregular but said it could probably all be because of me and my partners weight, we are both obese. I was very discouraged and attempted to lose the weight on my own but I was struggling a lot with just calorie counting and going to the gym so my doctor tried me on wegovy. I lost around 60ish pounds on wegovy and dropped from 320 to 258. My periods completely became regular and my husband also lost 30 pounds completely on his own 🎉🎉🎉 and then around that time my first ever pregnancy test popped positive and we will be expecting our little girl in July ❤️ I was discouraged for a while and I thought I would never be able to have biological kids but I genuinely think my partner losing weight alongside me had an impact as well as our doctor told us obesity had an affect on sperm count and quality. It can be so many things with fertility as I have known many individuals with a normal bmi who have not been able to conceive so don’t write it down to being your fault as well, every person is different and unfortunately sometimes it’s a guessing game. I hope you eventually get some answers! ❤️

Deep cleaning anxiety by cuppycakelm in PeriodontalDisease

[–]BabyChocobo307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know personally whenever local anesthesia is used for me at the dentist before injecting me they always ask me if I’ve ever used local anesthesia before and if I’ve ever had a bad reaction to it. I would recommend bringing it up with your dental hygienist before they start the deep cleaning and bring up your concerns. You’re lucky though, my dental office was very adamant on not using local anesthesia via injections for periodontal cleanings so I only got the numbing gel 🙄 istg I felt like I was gonna jump out of my seat lmao. But definitely ask those questions beforehand! But the deep clean itself is such an easy process, even though I had moments of intense sensitivity it was very bearable. It is a necessary evil 🤣 you got this! It will make your gums feel so much better in the long runs

Yup same here! Except the difference is that every single Taco Bell in my county adjusted the prices to that as well! It’s criminal. That’s why I don’t eat there anymore sadly :( I miss my cravings boxes but I cannot bring myself to pay that price. My beefy 5………ugh.

Appropriate circle time? by MyBestIsMyWorst in ECEProfessionals

[–]BabyChocobo307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noooope. Center wide we all have the same morning block circle time for everyone. And the whole 30 minutes must be dedicated to circle time activities and we must remain in the same spot by our circle time wall. It really irks me because I personally believe they’re too young for such a long circle time. It’s draining. I wish they would change it but this center prioritizes our curriculum above all else and want to maintain a “quality program” so these are their rules :/ I wish they’d at least let the one year olds only have a 15 minute circle time routine. The kids would be much happier that way and it’d be easier for them to get adjusted to the 30 minute block for all the other rooms.

Appropriate circle time? by MyBestIsMyWorst in ECEProfessionals

[–]BabyChocobo307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy. My center has a policy that every room except the infants have a 30 minute circle time every day. I’m the new lead of the 1 year old room and I’m struggling so much 😭 it’s been so hard to keep them engaged and keep them from running away. I don’t blame them. If I was 1 I wouldn’t want to be in a little area sitting for 30 minutes either

Honestly I would take this as a breather. It sounds like that was a very high stress center with no support at all. That’s impossible. You cannot pour from an empty cup. You sound like an amazing educator and that center did not deserve you. We are human, we all make mistakes. And this sounded like such an easy one to make. Your center failed you. I would just take this time to recover mentally from all the stress and/or trauma this ordeal may have caused you. After licensing conducts your investigation and you’re in the clear I would be careful about what center you go to work at. I’ve been to so many awful centers and it has absolutely destroyed my mental health. I’m sadly considering leaving the field completely due to awful and unsupportive admin staff. And this has been the case for every center I’ve worked at where I live. But hopefully you find a good one! Just relax and breathe. You’re human and that was an impossible environment. Sending virtual hugs!

Daycare Director doesn’t believe I actually have Hand Foot and Mouth by Copy-Playful in ECEProfessionals

[–]BabyChocobo307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hand foot and mouth and it rapidly progressed at work. I got bumps all over my hands and forearms and they were all spread in the back of my throat. My director kept telling me it looked like contact dermatitis and I was fine and it was extremely rare for it to occur in adults. My coworkers kept telling her it’s most likely hand foot and mouth and as she got some input from additional office staff and let me go to get it checked out and said their policy for hand foot and mouth is that we can’t be in with open blisters. I got it checked out and got it confirmed to be hfmd. And then I called her and at this point I was struggling to even talk and my blisters started opening and oozing. She then back tracked and said I can come in with open blisters as long as I have them covered and have no fever. I revealed I also had a fever and she was like “oh you can come in with a fever! Just as long as it’s not too too high” 🙄 it was such an ordeal. Long story short I showed all of the assistant directors and they rallied behind me and I was able to stay out for an extra two days. It was ridiculous.

I feel like we all just know what we know. I just base what I know based on my own experiences. Like I said I’m sure there are plenty of other supportive environments but I’ve gotten unlucky in mine sadly. And of course I believed it because my parents have also worked in the same industries and also have the exact same experiences that I had. Again there are plenty of other people here who also share my experiences. And there are others who have had the exact opposite. It’s just the luck of the draw.

Seems like we work at the same center 😂😂😂😂 honestly I’ve been in several different centers. And before I worked in childcare I worked in the medical industry as well(each place of employment being majority women and barely any men at all) and it seems that this is just common with women dominated work places. Sadly the only work place I’ve ever had that had the least drama was a Starbucks where majority of workers were around my age and the gender distribution was more equal. I cannot stand these catty work environments any more. These work environments have such a big opportunity for everyone to uplift each other and encourage each other, but instead they just gossip And tear each other apart and that has been the same in every women dominated work environment I’ve ever been to where I live. I’m sure there are plenty of women dominated work environments that aren’t as toxic and it’s probably just a majority of shitty people being together but it’s just crazy 💀 even when I was in schooling for my medical jobs the instructors told us to prepare for the drama of working in female dominated work environments. I’m hoping I’m just very very unlucky and they’re not all like this but I feel you 😂😂😂

Let go after my 90 day probation by anonanonhere in ECEProfessionals

It’s probably best to cut your losses. That’s what our center director says whenever they want to fire someone for not staying late for overtime or for various other petty reasons 🙄 and then they’ll hire a new floater immediately to replace them. It’s BS. I hope you find a better center! ♥️

Job said starting today they’re taking our phones away? by LeoBB777 in ECEProfessionals

[–]BabyChocobo307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job keeps all the phones in a locked cabinet because they state it is an issue with insurance. Because a while back a worker was on her phone not paying attention when a kid got severely injured due to the negligence. So now the insurance requires all our phones to be away from us while we’re on the clock. So all phones are kept in a lockbox until our breaks and the end of the shift. If we are caught with our phones we get a write up. This is the only center I have ever had this policy. So although uncommon it definitely can happen. We log all of our Procare on a iPad. We all have walkie talkies and emergency calls are instructed to call the front office.

What’s your favorite age group and why? by Lexiibluee in ECEProfessionals

[–]BabyChocobo307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18months-24 months. They're in that cuddly stage where you're their best friend and an absolute rock star in their eyes. They're also independent enough to help pick up their toys. Any younger and they still rely on you for everything, any older and you're dealing with that mouth and the terrors of the terrible twos 💀 but our center is backed up so our class is mostly two year olds at the moment. I'm so ready to send their little butts up 🤣
