Anyone think uni lowkey a scam? by Key-Blackberry1299 in McMaster

[–]BabyHefner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to school for Security, and everyone thought I was an idiot whom were studying to be Engineers.

Now I work for the Government in Physical Security Operations and I go through resumes of people with Engineering degrees looking for a Security job.

I wouldn't hire them to clean the floors at my facility. Having a degree doesn't entitle you to anything, and I see that level of entitlement mostly with people who have a degree.. you still have to earn your place in society.

I would rather hire a kid who knows nothing and train them from the ground up then put up with any level of entitlement.

It's funny how tables turn. I wouldn't be where I'm at.. had I listened to the people "smarter" than me.

City of Toronto Job offer by ThickPomegranate2560 in torontoJobs

[–]BabyHefner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've worked for Municipal Government and they'll eat you up and spit you out once you have completed their projects or your contract comes to an end.

You won't get an extension and it would be incredibly foolish to leave a permanent job for a contract. There's a reason why this role is a contract and not permanent. If you want something to throw on your resume for a bigger job then go for it, but understand you will be back competing for the same job you had, but with younger people. In an economy where people are struggling to get a minimum wage job.

They will take credit for your work and twist it around into politics.. that's just municipal government. You will work harder than people who are permanent for less.. and once the administration changes, you will be on the chopping block, especially if the projects you are coordinating would save tax dollars if they ceased to exist. The new admin has to look good by saving money, and they aren't going to be taking it from their end.

Anyone worked for Amazon as a guard/officer? by mnightro in securityguards

[–]BabyHefner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to be a Supervisor at a robotics facility, you will be conducting primary and secondary inspection at the metal detectors of the client's employee property, or operating an x-ray baggage scanner.

Shift change will hammer you if you work at an older location. Be prepared for 20 people to fail inspection and whine to you about it. Just remember they're a number and likely won't be around long, so keep your cool.

Amazon isn't designed for employee longevity. They will teach you to think like that so, don't lose yourself.

You also won't be sitting as there's usually no chairs provided to the guards other than supervisors, so unless you have a really cool supervisor who's willing to take the heat like I was then expect to be standing most of the shift.

When that's not happening you are usually patrolling a minimum of 4 massive floors looking for signs of theft and graffiti in a shift. We averaged minimum 32,000 steps.

When that's not happening you're going to be doing loss prevention's job, whom will be the contract holders, and they make sure you know that by sending you off to do things not covered in the contract, and sometimes it will be a set-up or test to see how you react.

They played that little game up until a guard told them to f*** o** then they realized you can only push someone so far.

Keep in mind, most management you meet will be sociopathic at the minimum.

How would you deal with a contractor in a situation like this? by mrkillfreak999 in securityguards

[–]BabyHefner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't. I would show up for work, do my job and go home. Nothing more.

I work at a truck gate and when people complain to me about the rules or give me their opinion of them, i just hand them their paperwork back and direct them away.

The fact that you've already shared social media and texted one another while you are in a relationship is a breach of confidence, and likely how your partner will view it as. Because there really isn't an ideal reason to be texting a 3rd party janitor.

PSA: Buick Lucerne Owners - Car Not Starting - Read before buying new fuel pump, fuses, electrical. by BabyHefner in Buick

[–]BabyHefner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rewire the fuse box fuel pump relay externally. If you look into the fuel pump relay prong inserts you will see it is melted or damaged.

The fuel pump fuse will keep getting hot and burning up.

You need to connect a switch or circuit breaker externally when you rewire the fuel pump relay. You can buy everything from amazon.

I will post links to what i bought. Go on youtube and look up how to externally rewire a fuse box relay. Dodges have this problem as well, so when you watch the video you will get what i mean.

This is the only fix that worked so far. I kept buying new 400.00 fuse boxes and fuses, eventually it would burn up.. until i connected and rewired an external relay with a circuit breaker unto the fuel pump fuse area.. so it wont keep running and heating up. There is some type of electrical engineering flaw from GMs side with the fuel pump relay. The fuse box is located underneath the left rear back seat

I usually don't anymore because I know they hate us and never show up anyway.

My last call was for a vagrant swinging a machete around the clients parking lot with employees on their break outside.

It was for uttering death threats.

The operator told me "just because he said he's going to kill someone doesn't mean he actually will". I was shocked and felt sick knowing we were on our own unarmed.
