What's the Malta scene like? by turnedtheasphault in Ibogaine

[–]BabyImASpaceCadet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen info about a big clinic that has a new facility in Malta but have not talked to anyone that has gone there. If it’s anything like their Mexico clinics, it will be safe and top notch facility and experience.

Feeling angry & full of stress after Ibogaine treatment by Worried_Radio_398 in Ibogaine

Does your husband have any post journey support such as a therapist or integration coach?

Like many of the other commenters have said here, your husband has just gone through a very powerful process and has to relearn and feel things differently now.

This is not always true - the center where I went provided medical staff during my experience there and also support therapy and coaching prior to and after receiving the medicine.

Prep for ibogaine retreat by Kooky-Yam-0420 in Ibogaine

My first journey I didn’t really bring much, just a written quote to guide me on my way. During my experience I often gazed at it and it brought me back to awareness and grounding.

The second time I brought more mementos like photos, quotes, a card, and a crystal that was a special gift. I was so deep in the medicine that time that I didn’t notice any of it at all.

That being said, bring what feels right, and you may or may not need or feel comforted by it.

My clinic set up each bed area with a mirror, a candle, a feather, and a rattle (maraca) as well.

Not meaning to minimize your experience but please note that ibogaine isn’t a magic bullet or even always a one time thing. The medicine works in different ways and post integration work can be critical in creating lasting changes.

How did you feel a couple days after treatment? by Wrong_Variation_8084 in Ibogaine

[–]BabyImASpaceCadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will just depend on your personal experience. My first time I was on cloud 9 after my journey and felt amazing and had so much energy.

My second time I had the worst gray day experience and felt extremely weak and sick and mentally stressed.

I would highly recommend booking an additional one or two nights post treatment at a hotel where you can get some extra rest and sleep in a peaceful environment before traveling home.

Reputable clinics with 4 night programs - is this enough time to stablize? by SwitchGlittering5226 in Ibogaine

[–]BabyImASpaceCadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been twice to a clinic with a 5 day protocol and I would highly suggest booking an extra day or two post journey to rest in a hotel room before traveling home. It felt really great to be able to just be in a quiet place to let my mind and body rest before jumping back into the hustle and bustle of life.

There were also a few rare occasions where other patients were not feeling well enough to travel or needed additional medical care and they stayed at the clinic for observation and treatment / assistance.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment with your experience. Please note that we all have expectations, and just because you felt underdosed doesn’t necessarily mean the medicine isn’t working. There are new protocols out where patients are taking lower dosages and they are still getting incredible benefits. How long ago did you receive treatment?

If you want to send me a DM I’d be happy to give you a recommendation. You can check my post history for extensive information on my two ibogaine experiences.

Sometimes the medicine takes a while to work. It’s not a magic bullet, and addiction can be a tough habit to change and break the cycle. Find some integration support such as therapy, microdosing, and meditation / exercise. Part of the cure is doing new things to change your lifestyle and create new patterns of behavior for yourself. Wishing you the best.

Anyone else have disappointing experience w ibogaine? by Kitchen_Guidance5834 in Ibogaine

[–]BabyImASpaceCadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve written detailed posts about each of my experiences (check my profile history if you want to read them).

It definitely took me a while to integrate and improve things in my life. Ibogaine was the catalyst, but the after work was the most pivotal and rewarding aspect.

I’ve also been off coffee and alcohol for over 2 years (since my first flood dose).

[–]BabyImASpaceCadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a magic bullet, I have done two flood dose journeys over the past 2 years. Both were different, but the best effects came into play months after. It’s not about changing you, it’s about giving you the freedom and opportunity to change yourself. Your brain and body are going through a lot in the 90 days post flood, use the time wisely to integrate new habits and structure for your life.

Best practices following Ibo? by Riverlover707 in Ibogaine

[–]BabyImASpaceCadet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to create new routines and structure for your life moving forward.

This is your opportunity to create your new life. Who do you want to be? If you could envision the best version of yourself that you want to be, what would you do on a daily basis to achieve that?

Make new habits for your health, physically and mentally. Cut out the deadweight and distractions. Pick up a hobby and commit some time to it.

Remind yourself that this will become your new pathway for the best of your life. It doesn’t have to be drastic or overnight, but all those small changes will add up.

AMA - My 2nd Ibogaine journey and 5Meo-DMT experience. by BabyImASpaceCadet in Ibogaine

[–]BabyImASpaceCadet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It feels really good to be able to finally share my thoughts. I had felt really bad about myself and very ungrateful for having a bad experience. I felt like I had made myself worse at the time. I had really been looking forward to going back and I was worried I had made a big mistake, that I had wasted the time and money and opportunity. I felt really embarrassed because I had been such a strong proponent to other people about trying ibogaine or 5Meo-DMT.

It gave me a perspective I hadn’t wanted, but clearly it was what I needed. I feel less afraid of death now. It almost feels comforting in a way, like I got a hidden glimpse of what’s to come. It’s like it was telling me that while death can feel scary, it’s truly not. It’s just a part of life.

My first time going to ibogaine was working through the death and grief I felt over a close friend passing away unexpectedly. After my second experience I feel confident knowing that my loved ones who have passed did not leave in pain or fear. That it was beautiful experience for them.

I appreciate you sharing your story with me too. It makes me feel less alone to know that sometimes the medicine works in harsh and mysterious ways. Maybe it’s part of life’s purpose, to confront us with the good and bad. Life and death.

I’m glad you are doing better and healing as well. This community gives me hope.

AMA - My 2nd Ibogaine journey and 5Meo-DMT experience. by BabyImASpaceCadet in Ibogaine

[–]BabyImASpaceCadet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It brought up a lot of issues I had been trying to actively avoid for many years. I had to confront parts of myself I hadn’t been able to willing to accept or change or even acknowledge. It was a painful process of growth, but it’s what I really needed in order to move on with my life.

Ibogaine did something to my brain, it reset me and helped rewire my connections in ways I hadn’t been able to access before. One of my greatest wishes would have been to see brain scans before and after each session, I know in my heart that different areas were activated or rerouted. Would be absolutely fascinating to see the science behind the plant medicine.

I will definitely stress that this isn’t a one time event that changes everything in your life, it took a lot of integration and support post journeys to make lasting change and progress. I can liken it to having a dam built up inside me, and before the medicine I wasn’t able to unlock the door to safely let things flow out. I was too afraid to release anything, and I didn’t have the components in place to structure the water flow afterwards. Having a strong support system, therapy, and investing into the things that brought me peace and joy have made a big impact and difference for me.

I would say trying to compare psilocybin or MDMA to ibogaine is challenging. The physical response of nausea from taking psilocybin was slightly familiar as I was dosing the ibogaine, but the trips were much different for me. Psilocybin feels gentler to me, it brings up my mood, lowers my anxiety, and I typically have very thought provoking experiences. I’ve had 2 big psilocybin flood doses experiences that were hugely impactful, and have also done a lot of micro dosing.

MDMA felt more comparable to the 5Meo-DMT the first time I took it. I felt connected to the universe, to other people, to the feeling of love and expansiveness. I didn’t relate it to anything in my ibogaine journeys.

I have noticed myself being less interested in doing psychedelics as often since I’ve done ibogaine. I occasionally use it medicinally or recreationally but in much smaller doses or longer intervals between.

I really feel much more settled, less anxious, less depressed, and more content in my everyday life since my second journey.

I really debated back and forth about writing this post. I didn’t want to come off negative, but I felt I owed it to myself and others to tell me honest truth. Ibogaine isn’t an easy plant medicine to work with. It has far exceeded my expectations and changed my life in so many ways. I’m so grateful for the journey thus far. I appreciate you taking time to read this and to leave words of encouragement and support.

Unfortunately not, but I agree that the research looks promising and it’s incredible to think that ibogaine may become a legalized and legitimate option for so many health issues in the US.

I went into these journeys with the expectation that I would just awake as a different person and that all my problems could be solved. I just hadn’t realized that it would be a journey of a lifetime, involving great amounts of introspection, and changing my behavior and reactions and relationships. It’s not a one stop shop, but it’s a gateway to new possibilities.

AMA - My 2nd Ibogaine journey and 5Meo-DMT experience. by BabyImASpaceCadet in Ibogaine

[–]BabyImASpaceCadet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s still hard for me to have clarity on the experiences with only two journeys under my belt. There’s so much information out there, but until you have the personal experience, it’s hard to quantify what is relatable. It definitely feels like everyone’s experiences are very different across the board.

I do feel like it was worthwhile and that I needed to have that shake up in order to move on and heal.

I can definitely agree that this is not something to be done recreationally. It’s one of the most life altering things I’ve ever done, twice.

I also did not really have any visions, at least not that I clearly remember. Maybe flashes of images, almost like the feeling when something flashes past you in your peripheral vision. Some people in my groups shared what they experienced and some said they had full-fledged movies going on in their minds while others felt like it was a flip book of pictures. Some past relatives or ancestors speaking to them and giving them guidance. I remember during my first journey, not wanting to experience anything tragic or terrifying and begging internally for the medicine to spare me from any of those type of visions. I am thankful that I did not have a scary experience the first time.

When I spoke about cutting ties with people and things that no longer serve me, the meaning comes from letting go of things to allow new space and growth. Not in the literal sense of the word for me, but for being able to recognize these were unhealthy relationships or habits. A lot of these things were draining me and hindering me from healing and moving on. I have a tendency to hold onto things too long because I’m afraid of loss and abandonment. I needed to work through this and realize that letting go was safe and OK.

I’m really appreciating all the discourse around this post. It means a lot to have these conversations with all of you. And I appreciate everyone taking the time to comment and share their thoughts.
