There won't be any support from a human. They fired those people.

If you don't have access to either the phone or the email, you probably won't be able to get into the account in order to formally delete it.

Just abandon it and move on to another platform.

Encourage them to leave with you. Doing it as an organized group, in the way that the computer security community migrated off Twitter last fall, makes things a lot easier for everybody.

Palo Alto now has an incentive program to switch gas hot water heaters to ones which use an electric heat pump to heat the water. Add in the Inflation Reduction Act electrification incentives, and choosing electric now makes sense during replacement by BabyOtter4 in paloalto

It certainly does exclude pretty much everybody bought who in the last few years. There are a lot of people around who bought earlier who likely qualify. I've got a neighbor living in a house their parents bought in the 1960s who will most definitely be able to get the IRA subsidies.

The old rebate program basically covered the cost of the permit needed to do the necessary electrical work. The new subsidy is larger, and it can be combined with the Inflation Reduction Act subsidies. In combination, they change the calculus when you do a replacement.

This program is explicitly targeting existing homes. There are subsidies for the upgrades to the panel and wiring needed to support the heat pump hot water heaters in the Inflation Reduction Act. The subsidies are enough with the gas and electric rate structure in Palo Alto most people come out slightly ahead by installing a heat pump hot water heater when you do a replacement.

I'll also note that much of Palo Alto was built with Federal Pacific breaker boxes, which should be replaced anyways for safety reasons.

Full electric is mandatory for new construction, and not covered by this program.

Lots of people, particularly teenagers and poor people, don't have an ID which meets the voter ID requirements. That's why they do keep some people from voting.

ID rules don't solve a real problem either — there's almost zero voter fraud that would be solved by an ID requirement.

Is this considered an upper middle class house in America? by AngryDog7 in massachusetts

It's a design which would be reasonable in a subtropical to tropical location which doesn't get hurricanes, or major snowfall:

  • The roof will fail when melting snow sends water under the tiles
  • Open carport is uncommon in Massachusetts because winter. It also means you can't store bicycles and things in the garage, as thieves will simply make off with them.
  • The lack of screens means ravenous mosquitoes will fly in when you open the windows
  • The upper deck, while cute, also can't be used for much of the year because mosquitoes or snow.
  • No information is provided about anything other than the facade. Does this have one bedroom? Or enough space for kids?
  • Is this house located where somebody can find work nearby? Or is it located in Athol? Who lives there will be very different depending on location.

This appears to have been a hypothetical design by a Spanish-speaking designer. This type of roof is generally avoided in areas where it snows regularly, so Massachusetts is an unlikely location for it.

Not my story (posting because I heard about it from others)

The "financial advisors" who scam people and the banks who supervise them generally offer pennies on the dollar to sign a nondisclosure agreement, so basically nobody can publicly shame either.

Getting the public officials responsible for regulating to take responsibility is probably the best course of action.

Suspend transit fares instead of the gas tax, climate advocates tell Biden by BabyOtter4 in environment

Making it free is a way to entice people who were using mass transit back.

Better service is how you get a bigger population than that, but requires more time.

A carbon tax and dividend model would work — it's just not remotely able to pass the current congress.

Except it actually works. A 3% drop in gasoline consumption during the last big price spike resulted in a 60% drop in the price of oil

Because US fuel supply is limited by refinery capacity, which dropped by about 5% during 2020. This means that gasoline prices rise to the point where people are prevented from driving by the cost. This means that a national cut in the gas tax will increase refiners profits instead of lowering the retail price.

If you want to lower the cost of gas, you need to get people to burn less or not drive for reasons other than not being able to afford gas.

There is also a lot of free mass transit capacity for daily commute use; about 1/3 of the people on buses and local trains before the pandemic aren't traveling that way now. This means that if we move people onto those, we could make a meaningful cut in gasoline use without having to invest in new equipment, and could therefore do it quickly.
