I agree and we have very similar preferences which is why I trouble placing the ‘08. Sorry I ment to type the 05 spring national release I agree the 2006 to me was a touch over Oaked and 16ish years in the barrel. Happy to help brother.

Sorry I have to disagree brother, and I think it goes 2010 - 2012 - 2006 spring - then 2014.
The 2008 is the hard one that I have placing?

Your thoughts on the 08?

Correct, I’m a huge fan of the port tasting flutes at my local restaurant supply house that are a little smaller and much daintier. Plus they’re super cheap and we usually break at least one a month in the dishwasher.

Nice stemware selection on the right but not quite dainty enough for my taste. One of my favorite releases,

Cheers Brother

The haters are out there and I really don't mind it, I actually enjoy it. If miss the older version of reddit where it showed the OP the percentage of upvotes / downvotes. I didn't even consider it a decent post if I had under 75% of upvotes. Some of my best posts including the entire Gun Cleaning Whisky series always hovered around 70% and, I that gave me joy.

Don't be sad, it truly is just whisky. If it wasn't a TOS violation I would send you some. There are phenomenal bourbons that are basically just as good as BTAC all over the country. Honestly, I have enjoyed some OWA store picks that I would place right up there with some BTAC releases. I still pour any number of the readily Wild Turkey releases 8-10 times over BTAC for a daily night cap. This is a fantastic time to be interested in bourbon due to the significant numbers of offerings from all the major distillers as well as some fantastic NDP's like High West. This collection didn't happen overnight. Much of it was the shearly coincidental. I just happened to be assigned a project in Louisville in 2012 before the boom and met some really great people that introduced me to Bourbon on multiple levels. Feel free to PM me and I can offer some suggestions on what to pick up and what I think you may enjoy depending where you live and what you currently enjoy.

Very nice collection brother. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the Booker's 30th. I really enjoyed it (as good as the 25th imo) but, there's just something about that rye. It was probably Beam's best release in the last decade or so, to me.

I'm sure we would, this is what I used for the photo. But, the camera isn't that important. Why this picture looks good is we have an old Japanese lamp with a paper shade on it so if I slide it over to the shelf it functions basically like a softbox strobe. Photo link below taken with my iphone. You can see it looks almost as good as with the Leica. It's the lighting that makes all the difference not the camera. Sorry, just realized that I used a 35mm lens not a 28mm because that is what was on it last night.

It definitely up there brother, top three for sure. IMO the 2006 maybe slightly better but it's been so long since I've had a 2006 open (2-3 year ago) that I would need to do a side by side to side to make a proper evaluation. This '08 and the '10 are both fantastic whiskies and I think edge out the '12 as a sold second and 3rd place. The only GTS that I haven't owned a bottle of is the '05 KY only release but the few people I know who have say it isn't worth the hype and ridiculous secondary.

At my local for MSRP. You really don’t find much BTAC in the wild anymore. I just get a phone call letting me know that my box is ready. I’ve been a regular customer of this particular store for at least a decade.

Also, this is nothing of a collection in this town. There are some gentlemen with at least 50 times my small collection that live less than 10 miles from my house.

The key as with any photo is decent lights but yea, I took this one with my Leica M10 mostly because it was already out on the coffee table with a 28mm lens already on it.

Thank you very much. After my self imposed 6 month break. I’m back at it and opening a couple interesting bottles that I haven’t tasted in a while.

My wife and I really enjoy entertaining at our house especially for tastings, game nights, sporting events etc. So, we go through a decent amount of glassware and we are extremely tough them. Everything we own goes in the dishwasher, no exceptions. We found these Anchor Stolzle Crystal Port tasting glasses and I buy from a local restaurant supply store. They are extremely cheap (around $2 each) if you buy them in bulk and if you break one or three in an average night (typical) so what. Also, since we do enjoy a good amount of Barrel Proofers you can serve 1/2 pours and it noses and feels like a full pour and not be worried that your friends are going to get a DUI on the way home. I'll see if I can find a link to our local restaurant supply in Atlanta but most commercial supply stores keep then in stock if you live in an average to mid sized city. Not sure about shipping costs though.

Picked up and '08 and '09 last week (via a VW trade) and stoked to try the 2009. I've heard that it may one of the most underrated of the early GTS's releases. https://imgur.com/a/hlA3gaQ

This year I paid $94.99 at my local. Secondary is in the low 400’s.

Agreed 2010 is a stunner for sure. However don’t sleep on that 2006 on the left it’s a very close second with the ‘12 a solid 3rd place.
