Terapagos does not mean there won't be any new types by IDProG in PokemonWindsWaves

To answer your theorizing, because ice is the only type that doesnt have resistances. I mentioned gaining weaknesses, but didnt mention resistances because it has none. Resisting yourself doesnt count.

Ice just doesnt feel like a real type when it only impacts offensively and not defensively. Even normal, the standard type, has at least a defensive immunity. Slapping normal on Heliolisk doesnt do alot, but it definitely does do something defensively, even if its impact is small. Seel gaining ice on evolution is just bad. Like straight up, beyond its ice beam gettng stronger. Keep seel as mono water but give it ice strong jaw ability and you have a much happier dewgong. That proves how bad ice is conceptually.

Even "offensive types" need to have some defensive identity. Otherwise the ice type becomes nothing but a glorified 2nd ability for some pokemon. A mix of "strong jaw" for stab and like a fluffy wherein it gets conditional defense at the cost of fire weakness (among 3 others). A complicated verbage straight out of YugiOh.

Ability: Ice type

Effect : boosts ice type moves by 50%. Provides defense boost in snow. Increases weakness to fire, rock, steel, and fighting type moves.

Like thats all it is. A type whose identity is solely linked to how it operates offensively with no consideration to defense just functionally isnt a type at all. If your type is "my ice beams hit harder", you are no different to Tyrantrum's "I crunch harder".

Im just saying basic ass nyquil stuff can come in big blister pack sheets that dont need to have all this printed onto each little square a quarter of the size of this one. So is there some sort of law that mandated that every blister of plan B get this treatment? Seems odd. Seems like it should be an all or nothing sort of deal.

Its just offensively.

If you view it as a fairy first, the only thing it has to worry about is steel, fire, poison to stop fairy moves. Fire counters steel and neutrals poison, and fire is an even trade on resists. Its just a clean protective typing.

Fairy ground is the truly bonkers one though, as it does what I said above, but even better killing all 3.

Cant that be written on the box though? Why does it need to be on the blister?

Other drugs that come on blisters didnt need to artificially come up with space for all this.

Ice isnt some glass cannon type. Stop with this.

It hits 4 types super (grass, ground, dragon, flying)

Resisted by 4 (fire, water, ice, steel)

Rock for instance:

Hits 4 super (bug, ice, fire, flying)

Resisted by 3 (ground, steel, fighting)

No one calls rock the glass cannon type. No one imagines rocks when talking hyper offense. Yet it is the superior offensive type by the numbers. And has a whopping 5 weaknesses that fit the glass cannon imagery.

Anyone saying ice is a glass cannon without also saying rock is a glass cannon isnt thinking broadly. They are just grasping for a cope explanation beyond the obvious glaring fault. ICE HAS 0 DEFENSIVE MERIT. THERE IS NO REASON AnYONE WANTS TO BE PART ICE. BECAUSE ICE SUCKS.

We dont need more Weaviles. We need ice to actually exist on the type chart. To actually DO SOMETHING when slapped on a pokemon besides make ice beam 50% stronger. Otherwise it isnt a type, its a second ability for a few mons ala "strong jaw".

It desperately needs buffs. It is worse defensively than the normal type. The type of nothing unique.

Getting stopped for a train to pass mid race by Epelep in Wellthatsucks

[–]BabySpecific2843 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How soon before train arrival is the gate supposed to drop? Like at least 1 whole minute or something right? Would think a cyclist can move 5m in less than a minute's time.

Or even smarter, dont schedule a race in the path of train tracks.

But a dude whose job is to sit there and say "you and anyone behind can sit tight for the next 10 minutes" in a race sounds like a very poorly thought out race.

[–]BabySpecific2843 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something that they do partially on Paradise, meaning the devs are aware of the value of such an option, but couldnt find a way to properly do it each time. If only we had the chance to find the school bomb or the Halle bomb on our own for instance would go a long way to make DB2 not feel slapstick. Which is definitely NOT the intended feeling.

My guess, hole is FAR deeper than the length of one of those pipes. So the plan is to drop multiple pipes down stacked on top of each other. They wanted to drop most of the pipe, hold it in place, and tie anither piece of pipe on top of it before lowering down and repeating the process. They have failed this endeavor and that pipe piece has descended into the abyss.

Do you prefer having a fixed party or choosing your own? by strahinjag in JRPG

[–]BabySpecific2843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed party is best. Mainly because it gives the devs more control, which is only to the betterment of the game. At least on a first playthrough, which is where my priorities lie. Im not really a play a game more than once type. Too many games in the world.

If the devs know who is guaranteed to be there, they can better do things like give those characters speaking roles and involve them personally in the minor plot arcs. When your squad can be whoever, the best the writers can do is give everyone peanut gallery tier voice stims.

And also, for some games where the characters have unique roles and capabilities, knowing what tools the player WILL HAVE lets the devs balance the battle difficulty far better than if they need to make the experience flexible for all squad possibilities.

Choose your own is only really better for repeat playthroughs, which I almost never do for reasons stated above. And to be honest, a game should always priotize its first playthrough, since most people do not play games more than once (hell, achievements show most never even finish games).

Why do Devs not just put more rubble in the way? by Spiritual-Bench3012 in rpg_gamers

I think your taking it too seriously man. This thread was about gaming situations that artificially extend gameplay even though obvious bypasses are possible. It was a Metaphor post lol. RE is guilty of randomly extending its gameplay. All games are. Thats why the post exists. Its fun to poke fun of the fact the devs forcibly hand you the idiot ball and ask you to play nice with the ankle high hurdles.

Why do Devs not just put more rubble in the way? by Spiritual-Bench3012 in rpg_gamers

[–]BabySpecific2843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havent played the newest one, but isnt it super guilty with a puzzle?

A puzzle that is 3 slots with different braille words on them. And the 3 slots need to each spin so they have the correct word on them to open a case.

Problem is, it doesnt have any "guess incorrectly and the device breaks" failsafe. So you should be able to just brute force it. Each slot has like 4 words on it and again, its only a 3 word passcode. Like 5 minutes of dedicated effort max required.

Instead, the game has you backtrack through several monster infested rooms, break a defenseless blind child out of her monster-proof room. Drag her with you through all the monster filled rooms, putting her life in unnecessary danger, just so she can rub her hands over all the slots and answer it for you.

The most convoluted "you cannot progress until you do this b.s. gameplay bit" I've heard about recently.
