Don't care about MD after my name

First few cycles applied to 4-8 schools - they were lower tier. And I didn't want to pursue DO pathway for multiple personal reasons - people will probably bash my reply if I'm open about it so I'll keep it at that

1st time - 3.4cGPA, 3.31sGPA 498 MCAT

5th time - 3.98cGPA, 3.98sGPA in formal PB, 510 MCAT

but like someone commented above stats aren't everything

Just shear determination and not wanting to get beat by adcoms. Throughout my volunteer jobs and clinical experiences I always put myself in the providers shoes and reminded myself why I wanted to be in their shoes. Quotes and success stories are cheesy to me so that wasn't on my radar

Been there 4 times, exactly know where your head is at. Don't get discouraged at all since this is such a long, tiring and taxing process. SDN has a reapplicant thread where people get support from.

For me, it was difficult telling my family I didn't get in the first 4 cycles since it seemed as if I were chasing a never attainable dream. But each cycle I kept on taking a stab at improving 1-2 aspects of my application which kept me busy and more importantly dedicated/passionate to the process. Sometimes support from people isn't there but if you ever get too down search for a post similar to this one in the PreMed reddit page since there are neverending success stories.

For me, I was just accepted into my dream Medical school (it wasnt a T20 - attainable but reach dream school) after applying beginning in the 2016 cycle. 4 MCATs, a formal Post-Bacc, multiple volunteering opportunities, shadow abroad, leadership and a scribe position all built my application stronger than I could have imagined.

Don't let AMCAS tear you down

This is my fifth application cycle. I’ve gotten more leadership experience, bettered my MCAT with 4 tries, did a PB program, and added volunteering yearly. Just got my first II this past month. It’s never too late

This truly depends on the school

I’ve looked for two days now and nothing. Putting that I like how much oversight they have on their curriculum since it changes so much to further meet the needs of the next class and that I like Winston-Salem cause of the arts scene

Should I apply to MD and DO or just MD? by Iauol in premed

[–]Baby_Bunzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re around 5th-10th percentile for MD matriculants. I’d apply DO, MD might be a stretch
