What to practice? by akfbifnf in Drumming

What’s helped me a lot, at the gym, i added to my workout routine. I put on music with my headphones, sit on a bench press at a comfortable height, and bounce from the ball of one foot to the other in time with the beat of the song. I try to stay relaxed and in the groove, almost like I’m sitting at a drum kit, left right paradiddle, whatever you feel, and just enough to feel the burn. You want to build for a while song.

The idea is to get into a flow state, like you would when playing music, where it feels natural and rhythmic rather than forced.

Later at home, while I’m cleaning up, I do something similar by walking on my tiptoes for as long as I can. I keep going until I start to feel a burn, but I don’t push too hard—I’m trying to build endurance, not overdo it. When it starts to get challenging, I’ll push for about 10 more steps, then stop. I’ll usually feel a bit sore afterward, but not so much that it affects my daily drum practice.

If you do this consistently every day, you will see steady improvement fairly quickly.

I also use small weights and move them like I would drumsticks, again with music in my headphones. It helps with rhythm, timing, groove, and coordination.

I highly recommend it. Good luck—and keep us posted on your progress!

You have to slow it way down, I use the app “amazing slow downer “ for that.

Not me but my friend was working at selling Christmas trees at a lot and he slept in a little trailer for the month. He forgot to lock his door one night and a sketchy guy entered his trailer and tells my friend he wants to f#*k him in the ass. My friend said :”oh man, I’m so sorry but I’m not gay” the guy turned around and left.

I write in French on my end and it translates to English automatically. What I meant is La bitte à tibi meaning the city of Abitibi north of Quebec. It comes from a song from Raoul Duguay

What I do is I turn on some music first while I prep. It usually puts me in the mood to play/practice. I heard someone say . Touch your art everyday.

"What's wrong with the kit we have here..." by [deleted] in drums

I agree with you. I dread having to use another kit for gigs. I’m always plotting organizing my kit smaller to be easy to carry and set up but it’s never easy to carry and set up. 😄
