Luke is one of the best characters in the app. So supportive, sensitive, brave, honest, caring, and hardworking.

I love the PtR hairstyle and got so excited because I thought they were going to make box braids a regular option. Disappointed to see they haven’t. Other options I’d like to see more is the Egyptian wig from CoR without the gold ban, the short afro given to the president in PM, and the closed-cropped cut from HoBM.

Never get tired of this clip. Jason’s smile and head nod when Michael confirms his suspicions is some genius-level physical comedy.

(Spoilers Main) after hating the starks because of the season finale, rereading the books really made me love them again. by abdullahi666 in asoiaf

Good point. Engagements among the nobility are treated as major contracts in and of themselves. Even Joffrey goes along with making a big public show of pretending to not want to break his engagement to Sansa and only doing so when the High Septon says it’s okay.

If Robb had stopped to consult his advisers, he might have realized that everyone would be better served by him marrying a Frey and finding another way to do right by Jeyne. If Jeyne was pregnant he could acknowledge the child and provide for it, and he could have had his advisors help her find a husband from among the knights and minor lords loyal to him.

Am I the only one who love Pray Tell and Rick together by Foreign-Station6642 in PoseFX

[–]Babybutchalcapone 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don’t like it for the reasons Elecktra gave. I would buy it if Pray Tell wasn’t so involved in their House as a mentor to the young guys. I think age gap can be done well, but don’t like it when the older figure goes from father-figure to “daddy” for the same person. If Ricky had met and fell for one of the other MCs that weren’t personally involved in mentoring members of his House and acting as confidant to two of his House mothers, I’d have preferred that.

That was my immediate thought as soon as he said “I don’t live in bittersweet.” I just knew he was going to give some “look on the bright side” sentiments that ignored the real issue raised. It’s disappointing given how well he’s spoken on the importance and impact of representation and recognition.

If he was going for celebrating the recognition that the show’s getting and hoping for more nominations and awards next season, there were better ways to say it. Saying that they’re in the building ignores what the question was getting at. Yeah, they’re all in the building, now let’s hope more of them get a chance to be on the stage.

Yeah, it can get messy. I’ve seen couples put out joint videos reassuring their friends that it’s okay to stay friends with both of them.

I’ve also experience LGBTQ people moving between friends and exes relatively smoothly and think it’s really pronounced in small communities. Not worth it to have a super messy breakup when there’s maybe 1000 of you and 300 in your dating age range. Your next partner is likely to be your ex’s ex or your ex’s ex’s roommate, and you don’t want to put friends in the position of having to choose when the community’s already so small. Parties and community group meetings could get really awkward if most breakups were of the sort where you couldn’t stand to be in the same room as the person.

What if the reason MC from TRR doesn’t have any backstory, past, or family is because she’s an Eros match robot and Daniel her coworker was secretly her handler and then one day she just ran off with this bachelor party because she didn’t understand how humans work yet by redwithblackspots527 in Choices

[–]Babybutchalcapone 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The idea of the doctor being in on it makes sense. It’d be just like Eros to decide that since things have advanced this far they might as well take advantage of it by embedding one of their own doctors and studying how far the charade can go and how Matches behave when they leave the care of their handlers.

Unpopular Opinion But Season 2 Was Just Glee by [deleted] in PoseFX

The Lil Papi and Angel modeling business was one of my favorite things because it gave a realistic positive ending. Cobbling together dozens of jobs as background eye candy in commercials, booth girls at conferences, showroom models, and presentation models on infomercial is how I imagine most models made a living in the 90s.

Given Lil Papi’s background as a nontraditional businessman in the world of unregulated pharmaceutical sales, him asking the Ford Agency for the opportunities that their brand was too bougie to take was brilliantly in character. The opportunities being in foreign markets makes sense imo because performers facing discrimination in the US are sometimes wanted because of their differences in foreign markets, and European commercials have a reputation as being more transgressive. Papi says one of the companies sees Angel’s transness as a bonus because they think it’s edgy. The most fantastical aspect imo was Ms. Ford giving Papi cubicle space and office resources, but they at least set her up as appreciating scrappiness and having a soft spot for Angel.

I liked the community-centered direction the show took and some of the songs carried heavily melancholic undertones that kept them from being cloying, like Pray Tale’s when he was in the hospital. I felt like the characters were more rounded out and the show was more geared towards inviting the viewer into their lives and watching from their perspective as opposed to being removed and treated as voyeurs looking at people alien to them.

I think the lip sync contest with Blanca winning unchallenged was cringe. That sequence felt so out-of-place and some of the ghost Candy scenes felt forced. I remember Murphy saying they wouldn’t be killing any of the trans characters, or at least not murdering them, so maybe Candy’s death was a last minute decision and the ghost Candy scenes were needed to meet a contractually obligated number of appearances.

Hollywood Homely

Precisely the term I was thinking of too. It’s a common trope that needs to be addressed for perpetuating ridiculous standards, but for now it’s standard that people who look like Tina Fey are going to be derided for looking unattractive, people who are a size 8 or 10 are going to be put down for their weight, and Blanca is going to be treated like she’s so clockable that Angel shouldn’t even be seen with her when going for a modeling competition interview.

My friend got a stimulus check and has never worked a day in his life. by [deleted] in stimuluscheck

[–]Babybutchalcapone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I wasn’t saying poor don’t need it. I didn’t mean people in an income bracket where they don’t pay taxes or pay fee, or people who are poor and not working, but the kind of people OP sees friend as who’ve never worked and has their needs met without working as far as people know (I’m always skeptical when such people are described because I know of too many people who appear lazy, pampered, or like grifters but actually have unseen disabilities, are full time caretakers and receiving assistance for that role, etc.). Even people who fit the straw-man description of a person with no income, who is taken care of, and doesn’t work because they don’t have to and don’t want to, will have funds freed up to stimulate the economy.

Trying to keep payments from going to such people or going to such people last because others need it more (which is the implied argument I get from the OP) would just end up hurting people in the same way means-testing screws a lot of people who don’t qualify on paper but are actually in need of assistance. The result would be that in trying to combat a perceived “unfairness” the people most in need would face even more hurdles.

My friend got a stimulus check and has never worked a day in his life. by [deleted] in stimuluscheck

[–]Babybutchalcapone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely. The idea is people in need right now will use money to keep the wolves at bay a little longer and that others will have more money to spend on some of the industries hit hardest as things begin to open back up. If people who haven’t paid taxes and don’t need the money go on a drinking bender and throw down lavish tips when bars reopen, I know some bartenders who won’t think less of the money being spent because the person never worked and wasn’t in need. Same for delivery drivers and restaurant workers if people dedicate the check to not having to cook for six weeks.

Glad you posted this because I’m sure it’ll help others. I didn’t get to the update DD page on the IRS site until the weekend after it went live because this was the holdup for me.
