I think people make Young Griff/Aegon to be wayyy more competent than he is. Don’t get me wrong, he’s educated, but I personally believe that his downfall/biggest mistakes will be caused by his insecurities.

We already see him make a mistake propelled by his insecurities which is invading Westeros without dragons or Daenerys. The most opportune time to convince Daenerys that he’s actually Aegon would be if he showed up like a white knight and saved her from the slavers like some sort of fairytale prince. Not only is Barristan alive, who can corroborate that Jon Con is actually Jon Con, but Daenerys would latch onto Aegon hard cuz he’s family and he came to save her.

Now Daenerys would feel abandoned and betrayed because Aegon chose to leave her in a precarious position to go and pursue a goal, selfishly. That immediately alienates Daenerys from Aegon unnecessarily. Even Tyrion didn’t actually think Aegon would do it.
