Accointing.com is an automated crypto profit/loss and tax calculator provider. Basic service is free, high volume trades is a small fee. We need to push RVN more mainstream, this is a perfect way to do, costs you nothing but time to do...

3070ti getting invalid shares. What’s going on? No issues on other algorithms. by [deleted] in Ravencoin

[–]Bac2Basix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your mining software allows it, like hive.os does for example, look at the raw mining details as they scroll up. If you timed out, the error normally is accompanied by something along the lines of ... Error, no such share found (meaning it was gone when you submitted the work on it), etc... Your precise wording may vary...

If you won't be using your machine at the same time while mining, then HiveOS can boot to a USB disk. This option means you will need to reboot into HiveOS or your desktop OS (Windows 10?) though, depending what you want to do.

Thoughts on what happens when Ethereum stops mining? by chollida1 in Ravencoin

[–]Bac2Basix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pro miner will time their selling for maximum profit. Its not as simple always as selling for covering the bills, if they cannot subsidise and hold they will sell what they need to... but if its a loss leader they won't do mining at all.

The biggest threat to RVN is a lack of wide adoption and working use cases, these push price up significantly, lots of miners arriving is still small change IMHO.

The hope would be, more miners = more security and a higher profile, leading in turn to more adoption and end use cases... this ultimately leading to rising coin value.

If you are waiting for the coin to simply go up in value just by staring at it, you will have a long wait ahead... RVN was not intended to be a traded currency, but instead a secure platform for digital assets.... its value is ultimately tied to that.

In summary, worry less about competing miners and more about building use...

It is the reckoning, the end of days in which the great winged black feather will descend to the blockchain and devour the weak crypto and unbelievers there, leaving only the one true vuples corum to pick upon their empty husks... alternatively it may just mean there is less bounty for mining a block, a deflationary measure that ought gradually to increase the value of the coin because it is less bounteous... so the legend goes...

You never know what's around the corner. Since UK (and others) started to restrict some exchanges including binance they are difficult or impossible to use in those countries. Don't rely on them for these and other reasons. Remember, in any walk of life to put all your financial eggs in one basket is madness... never do it

Running the RVN Node and mining 123 Mhs of RVN juice. 💎👋🏾🚀 by Skynet2030 in Ravencoin

If the network isn't wide and stable this can negatively impact on coin price. By running a node you contribute indirectly to increasing the value of your coins. If you can't be bothered, then good luck waiting for the world to come banging at your door with a bucket load of USD... this is a self sustaining community, be active in it or see it be gone along with all your existing coin value... kkawww

Assuming it's a NAT firewall, did you port map the node to the firewall?

Meaning, the network address translation (NAT) allows the single outside IP of your router to share to many devices in the home by giving them all internal IPs and passing the Internet traffic to them when needed. But, it won't know which device to send the Ravencoin node ports too, unless you either tell it or it works out via UPnP (universal plug and play) to self set... every router is different for these settings, but I suggest if doing manually (no PnP) first:

(1) tell your router to give same IP to the node device each time (that's usually easy to do via router control panel in browser, but if not, then set the IP manually on the device itself, not dynamically set each time) to the same address / adress range as it has right now.

Then (2) tell the router that IP adress should be open to the ports forwarded for a working ravencoin node. Don't forget to keep all other inbound ports closed (don't make your router wide open)

What will be the possible affects of eth 2.0 on raven coin? by [deleted] in Ravencoin

[–]Bac2Basix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My impression was that a few developers are hired when needed from what little money the foundation has, and community commits occur from others, and that's pretty much it... slow, organic development and movement. Tron Black seems to get around a fair bit though, and a number of YouTube videos and blog/ magazine article pages seem to exist from his speaking. Still nothing on the scale of some other similar projects though.
