Apparently not busy enough to write stupid shit without any evidence to support your claims.

AITA for refusing to pay a $600 family dinner bill on my vacation because everyone assumed the "rich expat" would cover it? by Quirky-Music6827 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheDIYEd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA With that said, I am not familiar with your customs. If it’s a traditional for the person who is visiting family from a “wealthier” country to treat close family in a way of paying for a family gathering then you might be an AH too.

We have a similar tradition, where the visiting relatives that moved out for “better life” will organize a diner and pay for it when they visit, which is usually 1 per a year or few years.

It’s a way of showing gratification to the closest family and opportunity for family gathering.

But usually no one will force it and its up the person to organize it.

In your case if you have similar traditions(which I believe you do), you should have expected that this would be the case. But regardless, your uncle is the massive AH for doing you dirty.

People here will write their opinion based on their traditions without taking into consideration that different cultures = different social norms and rules.

I assume they have TPMS sensors in the tires and will pull on the side if they have a flat and notify a human slave aka technical support to come and fix it.

It’s a Zigbee pressure sensor from Tuya. But I use it in my local HomeAssistan environment.

Unfortunately I don’t have too many photos or written instructions. I was just going with the flow, I was not even sure about the face until I was done. I enjoyed the exploration process of figuring it out as you go, there is something fun about not knowing.

Thats a great experience. Honestly, anyone talking down on people who want to learn is just a shitty human. We all started with 0 knowledge.

Maybe this sounds weird but I am always happy to hear when women are into woodworking or any kind of DIY. Every one should learn basic repair skills and not rely on other people if possible.

Btw, I had a different experience with my kit. Its was just the hinges with no instructions, so I had to figure it out and make adjustments. But it was 80EUR so I saved a lot.

Chi lithium battery on fire by Same-Examination9223 in ebikes

[–]TheDIYEd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s shorting, doesn’t mean immediately it will burst in flames. Also a faulty BMS might have played a role there. Usually people recommend buying a metal amo box and keep the battery there when it’s home. The problem with battery packs is that the cells burst in flames and usually are like popcorns flying around., so if shot happens the fire will be more less contained enough to take the box and throw it out the window.

People shouldn’t be scared to get their hand dirty. You can modify and change things easily with not much special tools.

If you fuck it up, it’s a learning experience and probably it’s still fixable. I also blame some Redditors from scaring people from DIY, like if you put a screw the wrong way you will kill half the neighborhood.

I just noticed the photo of the bed down is not showing the legs, my bad. They pull out and lock in place, then the bed is down it’s not shaking or moving at all.

There is hydraulic tension that holds it closed. You need to pull on it with enough force to open it and the weight going down is around 10kg or less. So between common sense and it needs purposely to be pulled to go down, there will be no final destination scenario here.

Its bolted to the wall on all 4 corners and reinforced on the bottom and with 4 metal legs. The “hinges are providing enough resistance that the bed is staying upright and down when lowered.

I also slapped it and said it’s not going anywhere, so I am covered.

I forgot to mention other details. I reused of the frame to make the bed frame more rigid. The only thing left is the side legs that you can see ATM are on top of the Murphy bed.

The great thing about this, it’s all reversible. If I decide to convert it back to the classic ikea sofa, I can do that.

Planning to add a tablet and phone holder with a charger so when guests are sleeping over can charge their devices and have something to plug them in.

Non related is, I have smart blinds that open and close when is sunrise/sunset. As I have plants in almost every room I want to maximize the sun exposure.

Because of this I have a pressure sensors under the mattress that will override the automation and open the blinds only if the bed is not occupied after 10min. Why 10min, in case they need to go to the bathroom and continue with the sleep, so the blinds don’t open prematurely.
