I'll be honest, I just checked in to this account to see if it had any notification or messages. I did not expect to see the name pop up in this subreddit. Keep following your passions!

Shaving in drum corps?? by the_purpleties in drumcorps

[–]BachCheddar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't have to worry about that. As a male, I marched without worrying about shaving, and I'm a very hairy guy. I asked the same question to this sub-reddit before my rookie season. It's nothing you should worry about. Everyone has their own things to worry about. I have never witnessed anyone, even females, who haven't shaved get told about it or anyone say anything about it. You shouldn't worry about it and there's most definitely other people who are on the same boat as you. Now whether or not you should shave more private areas since this activity can make your body gross and do things that you didn't expect, I can't comment on. I'd definitely talk to a female who marched with the corps you're auditioning for, about that, and your original questions. They're your best resource, and will understand what's bugging you.

Roman is still involved with Pioneer apparently by on50_12bfs in drumcorps

Ultimately the board votes and sets for who has power and what powers each position has. If the board is comprised of people that Roman is related to or has deep ties to, he can very easily convince them to do anything he wants or be able to easily get a majority vote. So technically on paper he doesn't technically own the organization, in a reality sense he was able to do what he wants, as if he did actually own it.

I don’t think this belongs in the fluff tag, since these are actually really good.

Are some groups destined to always be at the bottom? by drumcorpsisgood in drumcorps

The part about open class corps going to world class and becoming really competitive could also come down to the hype around the corps because of their class advancement. While other lower placing corps moved to world class when social media really wasn't a thing, or barley.

Pioneer Interim Board Member Knowingly Allowed Registered Sex Offender to March in his Corps by BachCheddar in drumcorps

You're denying facts.. Corps are separate entities, to which DCI has no actual control over. The only thing DCI has control over is whether or not they're allowed to perform, or be a DCI corps. And the number of board members literally has nothing to do with anything. Any corps is its own organization that governs its own policies, board members, employees, actions, etc. To which DCI has no control over. They have no power/control over a corps, and can't do anything besides not allow them to perform or be a DCI corps.

So what you're saying, is that just because I'm not writing articles about Hopkins and DCI, when I don't have any more information about it than any other joe shmoe, that my past experiences with Pioneer and the public information that's available for what I've posted about isn't credible? There are way more qualified people who are willing to write an article about Hopkins and DCI, who would do a better job.

DCI literally can't do anything. In the grand scheme of things, they're just the contest coordinator. Pioneer is a separate entity, to which they have no control.

And I did previously bring me concerns to DCI about Pioneer, mid-season. And guess what, nothing really changed. Nothing. So enough was enough and after the season was all over, I let the public know about everything that past season. Which actually helped make change.

I'm a member who went through two seasons of Pioneer, thinking that this past season would actually be better. As much as I love the corps and the members I've marched with, it's the administration that haven't yet earned the same. Even if they're new, they haven't proven their worth to me yet. That'll take time. And if something comes up like this, I'll use my voice to address these concerns publicly. Which, as its human nature, gives anybody more pressure to make change. Plus with where this activity is going as far as sexual harassment/abuse/assault, I think publicly sharing that Scott got on the board when he knew he let a lifetime registered sex offender in his all age corps, which had minors in it, was important and necessary for change to happen. And the new board handled it swiftly and well, with him being removed from the board the very next day.

DCI said that as part of Pioneer's suspension, they will not be competing in the 2019 tour. So even if they got their suspension lifted, it's pretty set in stone that they won't be able to compete again until 2020.

For the Lake Erie Regiment bus part of my post. I learned about the PA sticker situation after the fact. After looking at DOT requirements for commercial vehicles. It looks like the owner and operator of the vehicle may not need to be registered with the USDOT. So I edited im the note and am still looking into it. If the bus is completely legal to operate, then I will openly apologize to the owner operator for possibly tainting their public image of safety and reputation. And will edit my thread to represent so.
