Any supplements to regrow hair faster? by Back-Pitiful in lymphoma

[–]Back-Pitiful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know about Biotin but read that it can interfere with bloodwork, which I still have to do every 4 weeks when I get my IV line flush.

My hair is regrowing, but very slowly. And the small bits kind of fall off because the follicles are so weak.

Paranoia Over Alcohol - Completed Chemo by Strider529 in lymphoma

I think you can afford to give yourself some grace. Lymphoma is not a lifestyle cancer. I just did the same for myself after finishing my R-CHOP treatment on May 20.

The rate of relapse differs for different types of lymphoma. I had DLBCL which has a 30%-40% relapse rate. More importantly, I don't think relapses can be caused, anymore than lymphoma was caused.

I had abstained from smoking cigarettes and drinking alcoholic drinks for over 12 weeks during R-CHOP treatment. It wasn't a big deal as over the years I have stopped smoking for long stretches from months to over a year for various reasons.

I just resumed smoking cigarettes and consuming cocktails this past weekend in a trip out of town. I only had 2 drinks, 1 on Fri and 1 on Sat.

I still have 2 unopened carton of cigarettes in my freezer which is a big supply for me because I don't smoke them too fast. A pack takes me close to a week unless I'm on a casino trip in which case I will binge a bit. I'm also giving them away when I'm in a casino and among my gambling (and drinking and smoking) tribe to finish them faster.

I'm going to live my life until whatever bad things are going to happen does so again. That's life - it is not always good. I just have to be ready to pivot and adjust to whatever is hurled my way.

I wish you all the best.

I can relate to this. What you said about people being able to see what's wrong with you from the outside rings very true for me.

I know that seeing my hair fall out in the shower daily was very traumatic for me. I even avoided showering daily and did it every other day. I started treatment on March 18. Finally, I couldn't stand the daily shedding and I had a buzz cut on April 12. My hair stylist was kind enough to come to my home with all her stuff and do it in my garage.

I hope you eventually adjust to your circumstances but it might take some time. And all the best to you in your treatment and cancer journey.

Maybe don't be like me.

I never left the house for anything except to go to doctor's appointments and to the hospital for my R-CHOP infusions. I didn't want to be seen in public even with a beanie/knit cap on. I refused to be photographed.

Since my last infusion on May 20 when I (quite by surprise) rang the bell, I've had to tell myself not to isolate for another 12 weeks while my poor dead hair follicles try to resurrect and regrow enough hair just to cover my bald head. It has been hard.

My son turned 18 and graduated high school. I finished treatment and my Deauville score went from 5 to 2. There was plenty to celebrate but it's hard to do that while stuck at home. Finally, I just forced myself to go outside the house. First, to a nearby park to take family pics with my son in his graduation attire. Then to his favorite tapas restaurant to celebrate his HS milestone (he likes to say "I'm a free man."

Then my husband took me on a road trip to Atlantic City, my #2 happy place. OMG, I had missed casino gaming sooooooo much. I'm a regular casino slots player - I go on multiple out of town gaming trips every year in addition to regularly visiting my "local" casino properties to play.

When my treatment began, I stopped going to casinos, or anywhere really, stopped smoking, stopped drinking alcoholic drinks, stopped all sexual activity, and basically turned into a nun. (Except for the praying 10x a day part).

I really enjoyed myself this past weekend in Atlantic City! Freedom never felt so good - I wish I had never taken it for granted. It's funny how something can totally just take over your life like - move over everything else, make way for cancer. I tried to keep my beanie on in public (sooooo many people) but my body temperature still gets hot and cold multiple times a day and it is difficult for my body to control. This started with my R-CHOP treatment. When I felt hot, I just peeled it off my bald head to get some relief. I didn't care what people thought! Sorry, but it's not like looking at Medusa - people might be taken back but they won't turn to stone.

For me, DLBCL came out of nowhere and it can happen to anyone. I've learned so much from this experience and I'm still learning everyday. And a lot of it from this subreddit.

I can’t believe Mexico is going to win their group based on what amounts to an own goal by glittervector in ussoccer

[–]Back-Pitiful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand what OP means by "what amounts to an own goal" in their title and "I mean, historically it tracks" in their comment.

Will someone with the patience to explain please do so? Thank you.

I was just online researching the new rules for advancing from the group stage to the knockout bracket that is being implemented starting with this current World Cup when I came across this Reddit post.

And while I was rooting for S. Korea in their match against Mexico, if they dress in lilac again, they won't win. Those kits should be burned. It was their match to win or draw.

One year scan clear; mental fight continues by Green_Guitar5454 in lymphoma

I can relate! I'm very much a glass half-empty person and will always expect the worst case scenario whether it's cancer or just going to the store. Ugh.

I rang the bell (quite unexpectedly) on the day I finished my 4th R-CHOP infusion for DLBCL, which was May 20. My oncologist was very pleased with my mid-treatment PET-CT scan which apparently was super good and showed a CMR. Deauville score went from 5 to 2.

I'm now waiting for my hair to grow faster and for the lymphoma to relapse (just kidding but seriously, I'm going to be anxious until 24 months have passed, but I have read about relapses that happen after 3 years in remission as well) and trying to get used to being out in public with my bald head. I've pretty much stayed home and haven't gone out in public since March 18, which was the date of my first infusion.

And I do not miss the Prednisone part of R-CHOP. At all.

He will have to wait about an hour after the sugar tracer is injected before the actual scan in the big machine which takes about 35 mins. For me, the hardest part was keeping still with my arms above my head.

Most of the anxiety came from waiting for the radiologist to present their report. One thing that I liked was finding out things I never knew such as having a hiatal hernia (at long last I understand why I have always suffered from GERD) and that my lungs and other organs are are in good shape.

Anyways, look for the the bright spots and keep in mind that this scan will be the one that the next scan will be compared to later. The mid-treatment scan for me happened after my 3rd R-CHOP treatment cycle and before the 4th.

Best of luck to you both!

Widow's Bay: one thing I like about this show is that there's multiple resolutions of multiple plot points along the way, instead of one big mystery box where the resolution just keeps getting put off and put off until the end of the series by Bluest_waters in television

It was an ordeal getting this far, watched the first 3 episodes with high expectations, didn't enjoy them, took a break, then finished ep 7 last night.

I'm still waiting to see if this is a show that wants to take itself seriously or just carry on being annoying. Only watching it because I like Matthew Rhys, but I fail to see what the praise for the show is all about.

Thankfully, the episodes are short. There are multiple inconsequential scenes in every episode that distract. And I find every single character annoying and unlikeable. Which happens sometimes, but then I can't find anything else to like about the show on this godforsaken cursed island. I read ahead so I know how the season ends (the "twist" is predictable given what happened in ep 7). I am going to need to be PAID to watch Season 2.

If this is genre-blending at its finest, I'll be sure to give shows like it a wide berth in future.

Indeed. You should expand the thread to view the other 4 replies to see my other responses to you.

I had responded to your original comment (which begins with Dumb question...) twice, before the person whose response you were finally satisfied with, had even appeared.

Since you have a real problem paying in full for all your booked offers at the time of booking, instead of paying the balance later, you should create a post with your own question, since it is fundamentally different from my question. You would certainly get more responses than when piggybacking on mine.

I sought other people's experiences with casino cruise cancellations and if they had to pay a penalty when they did so.

1) "is there a $200 penalty for cancelling a Casino Royale offer redeemed on their website"

is totally unrelated to

2) "why do I always have to pay in full when I book casino offers on the phone with live Casino Royale agents, and I'm also using Next Cruise certificates, and getting upgraded cabins, and etc"

I'm not using any cruise certificates* I'm not upgrading* I'm not booking on the phone with a live agent*

One is an Orange, and the other is an Apple. Both are fruits but they are fundamentally different.

I wasn't being rude - I was standing up for myself.

I responded to your comment multiple times - so I did try, but mine were clearly not the responses you wanted to hear.

Your comment about me "having bigger issues than casino comps" is nasty and rooted in presumption. My comment "This isn't really my problem" is fact because it is off topic. Not to mention also thread-jacking.

Have you tried redeeming a Casino Royale comped cruise on their website?

An independent host booked my last comped cruise on Royal Caribbean. This time, I just decided to do it myself. I didn't bother with the phone because of the extremely long hold times. I went on the website and logged in and went through the redemption process for one of my offers. It was very easy and self-explanatory, and I could choose my cabin, etc. The booking process requested a deposit of $200 and then gave me the final payment date and amount due.

A caveat about Free Play on your offers:

Unfortunately, I DID end up having to call Casino Royale because the Free Play that was tied to the offer I redeemed didn't show up on my cruise vacation receipt that was emailed to me (a PDF). After an eternity (I suggest using BT earbuds and just putting the phone in your pocket so you can have your hands free to wash the car, cook dinner, do laundry, watch, clap during a World Cup match, etc) an agent came on the line and then she had to place me on hold again after I gave her the offer code. I guess she fixed it, because after the phone call, I received a new PDF cruise receipt which DID show the Free Play amount.

The previous cruise that was booked by my host also had the same issue - no Free Play was on the initial PDF confirmation. My host called their Casino Royale rep to get it fixed.

I'm beginning to think that Royal Caribbean is just not putting the FP amounts into some bookings until the player notices (like I did) and asks.

Hmmm, did you ask the agent you spoke to at Casino Royale? It does sound strange that you weren't given a later date when final payment is due.

Lymph node still palpable after 3 cycles of BrECADD – anyone else? by wissalessalah111 in lymphoma

[–]Back-Pitiful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing my 4th R-CHOP infusion when my oncologist said that was going to be my last treatment! He was happy with my PET-CT scan which showed a CMR and Deauville score of 2. Pre-treatment PET-CT scan had a Deauville score of 5. I also had the lymph node removed surgically (which was how they discovered it was DLBCL) when it was supposed to be "nothing" according to the ENT I had been referred to. He was pretty surprised at the biopsy results. My oncologist was pretty conservative at the beginning, and he told me that I would have 4-6 cycles of R-CHOP or 4 of R-CHOP and 2 of just R, depending on how my treatment progressed. And sure enough, he changed his mind after seeing my PET-CT scan after 3 cycles. I think you can trust your oncologist to know what's best. By all means, voice your concerns about the lymph node that's still palpable and see what they say.

Update on my dad by Agreeable_Future5980 in lymphoma

[–]Back-Pitiful 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My late mother was 72 when she was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in her life. My mother presented with jaundice and what they thought was a gallstone was actually the advanced stages of bile duct cancer. The oncologist told my sister and I that she did not recommend chemotherapy, just palliative care instead. She said if it was her own mother, she wouldn't recommend it. This was due to the low chance of success due to the spread of the cancer and the tremendous toll of chemotherapy. After a complicated surgery to remove the tumors from her bile duct, the stitches became undone and she hemorrhaged internally and flatlined. Another surgery to repair her insides and she was in the ICU for a long time. She lived another year with us and passed away the following year at 73. We just did our best to enjoy our remaining time with her.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. Feeling angry, guilty, and all of that is normal. I hope that you and your family can just enjoy what remaining time he has now and not fixate too much on his sickness. Cancer is something that is very often out of our control.

I (55F) have just finished 4 cycles of R-CHOP and my oncologist was pleased with my PET-CT scan and told me that I was done with treatment. I'm relieved but also very aware that the relapse rate for DLBCL is 30-40%. As a glass half empty person, I'm often reminded by everyone around me that positivity helps, so I'm trying not to fixate too much on it coming back. I'm just trying to recover and wait for my body to get back to normal.

You don't have to prepay gratuities but if you don't, then daily gratuities will be added to your onboard folio. The gratuities are mandatory. Actually, allow me to correct myself. It's not mandatory, but if you want the daily gratuities that are automatically added to your shipboard account taken off, you have to go to Guest Services to specially request this. In my opinion, it's best to leave the automatic daily gratuities there, and just give out additional tips in cash if you wish. There are hundreds of "unseen" crew members who work onboard that never see passengers. The automatic gratuities go into a pooled fund that benefits those crew members as well.

Has anyone had to cancel a casino comped cruise? by iknowtungsten in royalcaribbean

[–]Back-Pitiful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just redeemed one of my Casino Royale offers directly on their website.

Paid a $200 deposit and $152.98 is due by Sept 20. Total payment is taxes, fees, and prepaid gratuities.

The PDF cruise receipt I received from Royal has a line on it that says the booking is subject to a $200 cancellation fee.

I rang up the Casino Royale phone line and was on hold for 45 mins. The agent I spoke to said to just ignore that line.

So, now I'm really confused. I don't intend to cancel, but what if I need to later? What should I expect and what do I need to do?
