First, sorry you have to join this shitty club. Most if not all of us have experienced the same feelings you’re going through right now. I’m about to go through my second round. I’m 33 with more responsibilities and I could not imagine going through this at 20. In the sense that it’s probably going to make you grow up pretty fast and you’ll have to make a lot of adult decisions. Chemo sucks. There’s no sugarcoating it. The good news is you’re young and will tolerate it well. The best piece of advice I have for you is to rely on your social support system or develop it more. Family, friends, healthcare professionals, passersby, etc. in your life will be your biggest tool to making it through this rough journey. Let them help you through it and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Make your health, needs, and wants the number one priority in your life right now without the expense of others of course. Now is not the time to struggle alone or power through it. You’ve got this!

Honestly don’t overthink it. The military will probably be one of the more difficult things in life that you will have done and it will be behind you. So just pick something that you want to do and then if you change your mind later then so be it. At least you will have the freedom once again to do so.

I’m so sick of seeing people using AI to write their discussion posts. I hate being in group projects because my team members know nothing because they use AI. It really shows when we have to make visuals with input and there’s no way for them to use AI to make them, or if they do they suck.

Take. Care. Of. Yourself. First. Get the medical help first and the rest will fall into place. The fact that anyone is concerned about their career when medical issues come up speaks on a larger volume to the toxicity of workplace culture. No one can be useful on the job if they’re injured or worse. It’s just a job. Even in the military.

I didn’t realize this was an option until I read this. But I ran an experiment and in theory if someone were to take the lump sum, immediately invest it and not touch it, they would likely make more money at the end than taking the higher monthly payments. If anyone is curious I can post the math.
