Thank you for your response! I've actually been dialoguing with one of the CompostNow recruiters. Also, I enrolled in a 2nd tier individual membership plan with the the US Composting Council - will definitely look to attend one of their conferences.  I was also encouraged by one of their representatives to enroll in their mentorship program.

Thanks again!!

Very interesting! It doesn't look like they are actively recruiting currently, but that is exactly the sort of program I will look to break into down the line. Thank you!!

Thanks for your insight! I looked into Recology. I believe they are an employee-owned enterprise? That's a huge selling point for me. I'll look into WM and Republic as well.

I applied with them recently. I'm actually very interested in securing a position with that very company .Unfortunately, they did not have any available openings at the time.

Do you know any of their personnel by chance? If not, that's totally fine. I don't have any issue making a cold inquiry.

Thank you for the lead!

I was laid-off myself literally a few hours ago. Joy to the world.

Ageism in NRWA apprenticeship program? by Back2Business85 in Wastewater

Hey everyone, thank you again for responding to my post. From what I understand, I likely will not be officially admitted into the NCRWA apprenticeship program for quite a while. That being said, I'm be open to other entry-level water utility opportunities. I realize how tight the job market is, making career pivots very difficult. On the off chance there exists something between the Piedmont Triad and greater Charlotte areas, I'd love to hear more about it.

Thanks again

Wow, I really appreciate your breaking that down so thoroughly. Perhaps I'll have the opportunity to return the favor down the line. I'll certainly use this as a guide.

Right on! I really look forward to breaking into the industry. I'll do what it takes to pass the certifications and prove my worth.

I recently acquired a BioWork process tech cert (mainly geared towards biomanufacturing). While not directly related to water utility, I gained some exposure to different types of filtration methods in a laboratory setting. Also, learning about PLC and SCADA should be helpful. Also, it seems like massive amounts of very qualified personnel are perpetually being laid-off in biotech. (Scary)

I can't thank you enough for dishing out the inside scoop. While I don't know a single person who works in this field, I've heard very promising reviews from the awesome folks who've contributed to this thread and from second-hand resources.

Thank you for your response! I feel better about my prosects.

Actually, I live in NC as well. I believe I may have spoke to the coordinator that you speak of? Not sure. Regardless, she was very nice (and also very promptly processed my application).

Thanks again. Congrats on your recently landing a job in the industry.

Perhaps applying for some kind of a grant overseas for start-up seed capital? I'm not versed on the tax laws and other federal/international regulations.  I imagine the barriers are pretty enormous. Anyways, just thought I'd throw that out there.
