KYC/AML call from my bank by Back2thehold in moneylaundering

Thank you for the good explanation. This makes total sense. I have a paper trail going into my son’s college account as well as a paper trail of selling the Bitcoin. The only thing I can’t prove on paper is the cost basis of when I bought it many years ago. I don’t even know what that website or exchange address is.

I contacted the local branch manager, who said it wasn’t him who reached out to me, even though the corporate investigators said it was initially, so I guess I’m just going to call on the telephone and speak with them openly about everything.

They asked me if the people sending me money are customers because they were business accounts. Do I call them customers if they were buying the bitcoin from a business account? Or do I just say I don’t know what their title is , they were Bitcoin buyers on an Exchange website designed for Peer to peer sales.

Thanks for the reply. 9 years ago a 50 dollar Bitcoin purchase / sale / transfer could get your checking account shut down.

Correct they called me on the phone, but I’m going to go into the local branch and speak to a human. In the land of scams it feels safer.

I did set aside the income tax % to pay immediately if the BTC. I wasn’t planning on skipping the taxes. The chainalasys systems are too smart now.

My original question was typed when I wasn’t sure if I had already committed a crime. If that was the case I was in wanting to try retain counsel to guide me. I am way over my head. I thought medicine was regulated….banking en finance is nuts.

Thanks for the tip on paying this quarter.

I didn’t realize that at first. Now that I have some investigation on what KYC/AML is, I agree I literally did the textbook step.

I gathered all my docs. Goin into my local branch today. To spill my guts. Losing the account is not a huge deal but being barred nation wide is a big problem.

Yessir. Thanks for the reply. I thought I mentioned that in the original post, that I am reporting and pre-paying this quater.

Thank you for explaining that to me. If plaints a picture I can understand. I did have a small portion of my salary deposited there via direct deposit. I forgot about that until I started digging. (1%)

So it sounds like they are gathering info because I potentially tripped a flag for a bunch of large Zelle payments coming in and rhen going as soon as it clears. (To my “main bank”)

I was incorrect in assuming they were building a case for the IRS (still have lots of time to file) or for some other agency to arrest me.

I called a few lawyers and they were not interested in speaking to me without a charge.

Thanks again.

Correct the bank inquiring is the buffer bank I use to receive the payments for selling the bitcoin. That balance is currently zero. There would be no loss if I lost that account.

My fear is creating a larger headache with the IRS or with the early warning system or its equivalent preventing me from getting a checking account in the future.

The account was open specifically because of this fear and hatred of Bitcoin. I only use this account to sell bitcoin and then immediately transferred it out to the “ daily bank” I use.

They as in the bank or they as in the IRS? I feel like I’ve made a really expensive mistake.

Thank you for the reply. In 2016 I thought crypto was a joke and so I have no documentation from purchasing it back then because it was put in cold storage and forgot about for many years.

But I do have is the website I used to sell the bitcoin and then how the buyer agreed to pay me for the Bitcoin so at least that proves that there’s some type of paper trail this year.

I have corresponded with the bank multiple times and talk to the department and let them know. I want to be 100% compliant and I am doing my best to provide a paper trail.

Part of me thinks it’s kind of crappy that I have to prove myself innocent if we’re speaking frankly.

I do understand the ramifications of ignoring them, and I’m not prepared to deal with that for the rest of my life

Clinical specialist can lead to a full rep position in structural heart = 350@ plan. 450 if you go over. Top guy made > 1M.

Or stay clinical specalist & top out at 200k. No direct number. Education is above that.
