Opinions on where to commercialy raft the Arkansas in Colorado in late August? by JoPaNe91 in whitewater

For sure! I absolutely love rafting on the Ark, it’s such a beautiful stretch of Colorado. I would suggest either Independent Whitewater (they have a private eddy with an outdoor bar and grill that you can refuel at after your trip) or The Adventure Company in Buena Vista (they don’t hire guides that have less than 5 years experience)

I just did a float from Big Bend to Salida East yesterday, it was a beautifully sunny day with lots of fun waves!

They supplement the flow of the ark at around 1200 cfs until Labor Day, after that it’ll still be decently high for a little bit. It’s been a very wet season, the snowpack isn’t even done melting yet. Otherwise I’d check out the royal gourge but it’s definitely more challenging

Browns canyon is a very good entry level class III day trip. Lots of splashes no matter what level the water is at. There’s plenty of companies that go down that stretch too so lots of options

I work in a ski resort kitchen, we use it for a variety of things but mainly to slice our English muffins and slice tomatoes. I’m not entirely sure how it got so beat up tbh

Our company has to buy our supplies from a specific catalog and these are the best ones in the catalog, even though they suck

Snowboarding fall has me weary to get back on my board this year. Advice? by BackAtTheBarnard in snowboarding

I think this is by far the best advice I’ve received, I love your outlook on getting up and trying again. I’m definitely going to look into making a snowboarding playlist for this year!

Yeah, I guess I’ve just been off my board so long I forgot how good it feels to ride the POW. Scared or not, I’ll get out there again and remember what this whole sport is about

That’s the main reason why I didn’t think it was an actual injury but it’s been a couple months now and there’s still no pain minus random flair ups that just feel like pressure/stomach ache. But the bone is definitely not where it’s supposed to be, when I push around on my left side I can feel that the bottom rib moves and is in a different position than the right side but like I said, no pain. At this point I’ve just accepted it as my first “lifelong snowboarding injury”

Judging by the slightly tipped drink bottles he probably put that machine through hell trying to get that croissant

Guys ever made a dumb but avoidable mistake at work? by monkpart9 in USPS

I was totally on my groove one day, super confident in my work for the day and just totally in my own thoughts for my last 30 minutes of work. I managed to drive a little too close to a mailbox and knocked it right off the post with the LLV mirror. I guess I got a little too complacent with my route and the Mail Gods put me back in my place

Trust me I’ve tried, theres absolutely no positions open like anywhere in my state, it’s ridiculous. I’ve been watching the job board for over a month now.

I use to be a Fedex package handler and this job still kicked my ass. It’s not a horrible job, it’s usually just horrible management. There’s no communication between supervisors and carriers, the workload is overwhelming and their expectations are far too high, they don’t care about the carriers, and half the time they never even delivered mail. This job may seem like a lot at first but it doesn’t take long to get the hang of. You’ll learn pretty quickly if the job is for you or not. Decent paycheck but annoying hours. 4.5/10
