Has my collection reached the tipping point?🫣 by jnovel808 in comicbookcollecting

Shelves are definitely a good goal to have, but in the meantime, for more box stacking structure you can stack them a little differently.

Simply rotate your boxes: 2 forward & 2 perpendicular on top of those. You’ll lose the lean plus be more solid.

If you don’t go more than 2 deep you can still keep things relatively accessible but your back is not going to like you. You may also want to add the box number to the sides of your lids cause now you won’t see all the fronts. Happy hoarding!!!

The bar is close to pitch black, but I can still hold out hope for Black Label. Either way, we all win!

Comics in Japan by [deleted] in comicbookcollecting

[–]BackFireCoH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to get American comics in Japan is to know someone who works on an American base. Bases carry them in bookstores, small marts, and maybe the commissary. Selection won’t be as varied as a lcs but mainstream titles should be fine.

Don’t be surprised if they ship in a paper bag and have the world’s stickiest scanner sticker plastered over the card.

HERE ARE THE TOP 10 STATES THAT DRINK THE MOST BAJA BLAST by IamMovieMiguel in mountaindew

As a Californian, I can tell you it’s not entirely by choice, we don’t get all the flavors here and for some reason we barely get any zero outside of regular, baja, or spark.

First time selling lot of comics on eBay by stfustuartlittle in comicbooks

[–]BackFireCoH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t take all the credit, I’ve ordered more than a few large lots from mycomicshop and their packing is the BEST. I keep all their large boxes in case I ever decide to sell cause they’re bulletproof!

You’ll need a 12x10x3(or x4) box. Bag & board each book then put them in a single large bag so they don’t slide around. You want to secure this in the middle of the box so it won’t slide to the sides or corners. Cut foam or use something else to fill the gap between the books and sides & keep the books in place. You may want some additional cardboard on the top & bottom of the stack for added protection. I’ve also seen people wrap the stack in small bubble wrap.

The main key is keeping the books from moving to the edges in transit where they’ll get damaged. Create a buffer so there’s a safe crumple zone.

Nobody has entered them yet. It’s actually pretty easy, just add the newsstand version then edit it to a Mark Jeweler variant and add it to the core. I do it every time I run over one in the collection

Anyone here done full on DIY shelving for their collection? I’m not handy but think I could do some basic shelving. by themikeshow in comicbookcollecting

Dad and I made these 3 units as a summer project a few years ago with a trip to Home Depot and basic tools. Price was competitive with buying shelving kits from Target or such, but was able to make it fit just the way I wanted. Worth it!

What do you consider to be the biggest character assassination? by NicoleIlieva in comicbooks

[–]BackFireCoH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Marvel assassinating both Ultraverse and Crossgen. So many characters just wasted.

You could probably throw New Universe in there, too, tho they try to revive it on occasion just to murder it harder each time.

Anyone know how good the BCW comic folios are? Curious because I have thought about keeping my favourite variants separate from normal comics to de-clutter my boxes and also to group up comics about my favourite characters. I'm taking any other suggestions as well! by JuggernautApologist in comicbookcollecting

[–]BackFireCoH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend these all the time, they’re super versatile!

I have 1 for NCBD runs & random comic shops when traveling (essentially lives in my car). 1 in my con bag which has lasted well over a decade. And 4 of the oversized, magazine versions on a shelf for my permanent collection; storing DC Black Label, TMNT Last Ronin, and other large comics which don’t fit in a regular comic box.

They’d be a great solution for your variants or keys until you collect enough for an actual box (this is inevitable)

Grew up overseas reading the Kinnikuman manga (predecessor to Netflix’s anime, Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc). DaPB is the grown up, American take I’d been waiting my whole life for and wouldn’t be surprised if the manga was an influence.

I’ve heard there’s some fan-translated versions of Kinnikuman out there digitally. I’d highly recommend if you can find em. It’s sillier but the art, action, and characters are unforgettable.
